I'm not against DLC per se (even though I never purchased one seperately), since I'm convinced it can be done right. It's just a matter of how much content gets added and how it fits into the game (although it definitely should not seem like a missing part of the main game). Also, I'm more disappointed in the GOG userbase than in GOG itself (I think GOG is handling the matter decently).

And I really hate that new trend of being able to buy into a beta or even an alpha. People who are useful in testing shouldn't need to pay for it, and those who aren't shouldn't be able to play unfinished versions.

Also, this isn't the first poll of its kind for GOG. Looks like they kept putting it up to a vote until they finally got the result they wanted. They must have learned from the EU.

I voted for DLC, but against season passes. It's just what's practical.

let's face it, the whole classic games, DRM free, anti-DLC schtick are mostly marketing gimmicks.

Well shiver me timbers I'm shocked.
I got one shocker for you

I never said I was shocked I said the hypocrisy is laughable. Oh, forgot another one 'we don't believe in devaluing games,' [turns around and sells Witcher 1 for $2.50].

Hilarious thing is: They voted 50-50% on Season passes, but woted heavily against single DLCs. Defukk? So it is OK to pay for nonexistent DLCs in advance, but it is bad to pay for a single DLC, which is already made?

when a shop assistant smiles at you and is very very nice to you, it don't mean she actually likes you. In fact, she doesn't give a fuck about you, it's just a marketing trick to make you come back.
Why did you have to take this from me.

I think they see season passes as equivalent to getting the game's "Ultimate Edition" with all DLC.

Did they?

Of course, there was a shitstorm when the Omerta DLC was released, but that seems to have been the vocal minority (or the fact that the DLC is a ripoff).

Anyways, today's promo is the Gothic Series Stacking Promo. I sure hope they will add the original german version eventually, like stated in this thread.

I already own the definitive Gothic series. That is Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 Gold. The others can go down the toilet!

To this day, I'm anguished by the thought of how good later games in the Gothic series could have been.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

I really liked Risen, it actually enticed me back to Gothic 1/2, both which I abandoned in my foolish youth after 30 minutes of playing.

Anyway what's the bloody deal with Gothic 3? Considering to grab it but the reviews and reactions are all over the place, can't wrap my head around it.

Codex verdict - yay or nay dammit?

I played Gothic 3 for the first time not too long ago. The game world is very well realised in terms of level design and aesthetics; it can be fun to wander around. The combat is really bad, it's just heavy, unintuitive, and monotonous. Skill system is pretty useless as you can get pretty much everything you wanted. The quest design is quite horrible with boring MMO-style quests.

I would say that if you're looking for a game to spend some time exploring the world, Gothic 3 is not too bad, though I couldn't bring myself to finish the game. If you have earlier Gothics, then maybe not much point in playing Gothic 3.

G3 is one of the few truly open world games. In fact it is perfectly possible to kill every single NPC in the game and still be able to beat it.

But yeah, it's not as good as the early ones overall.

G3 is okay. It's decline from g1/2 on mechanics but still retains enough to clearly be a gothic game, and world exploration and some of the questing is good fun. It's far too long but you can just play the first landmass which is the size of a game itself. There's grindy combat but that's also true of g1/2.

It's good. Great world design, gorgeous soundtrack, no hand holding, lots of quests, addictive gameplay (I often just try to do absolutely everything, kill every orc, collect every animal skin so I am a megarich demigod at the end of the game), several different endings.

Hm, just read an ancient Codex review, VD seemed to love it and that was way before all the fixes and patches.

All right, sold.
