Decided to finally play Valiant, but this time play every episode with different guns.
1st episode go with guns from Diaz Last Hours of Purity, cool pistols and assault rifles but shotgun looks like ass (some stubby variant of whatever) and energy guns works weird.
Also got hands on weapons from Counter Strike, Trailblazer, Guncaster and MSX project.

Anyone know if there is a way to get my hands on guns from DoomRPG? There is hundred of them, yet so little weapons packs in general.

EDIT
after some search I stumbled into few types of weaponspacks
-hitscans (firearms mostly)
-weird projectile things
-messly working guns
-packs from different mods, mostly mixing bad parts into one big shit
-something useful, in most cases at least

This is from last category

edit: Yep this is one solid mod. I'm using it to replay Episode One at the moment. There are some misaligned buttons but other than that textures are fine. The random music is good too. It's a nice way to rejuvenate old favourites but the mod will also come in handy when some wad turns out to be too easy in co-op. It doesn't appear to work well with my tweaked random deaths and decoration mod.

Anyone who has played Blood may be familiar with the names James Wilson and Terry Hamel, both being mappers for Blood. If you haven't known this already, they happened to have some Doom maps of their own, presumably made before joining Q Studios and Monolith Productions. James Wilson has made a few maps, while Terry Hamel only has one known map to his name.

James Wilson
- Theatre of Doom: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/s-u/theatre2
- Theatre of Doom (Doom 1 version): https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/d-f/dmthea
- Fearless: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/d-f/fearless
- Purgatory: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/d-f/dmpurge
- Return to Purgatory: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/d-f/dm2purge
- Deathmatch 1*: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/deathmatch/d-f/death1
- Full-on Deathmatch Chubbie*: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/deathmatch/d-f/dmfull
- The Keep*: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/deathmatch/d-f/doomkp

*Deathmatch only maps

Terry Hamel
- Underground Military Bunker: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/a-c/bunker

All of them are worth checking out if you're a fan of Blood. James Wilson's output turned out to be the most challenging (particularly his Return to Purgatory episode), close to the knockabout gameplay style of Plutonia and Hell Revealed, despite the fact that they came before those two megawads. All of the maps are fun, pretty much so as they must have got them the job at Monolith. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

The first Purgatory is two levels, with the first taking maybe 2 or 3 minutes to beat. Second is the main dish and it took me nearly half an hour to beat on 100 % with all secrets found. While the textures aren't impressive, and are really basic Wilson really knows how to build a good Doom level in terms of encounters. He sets the traps in intelligent way and challenges the player to overcome them. But it's not a slaughterfest, despite big numbers of monsters considering that we are talking about single map.

Return to Purgatory takes some parts of the original Purgatory and then goes into a more polished direction. Everything is smooth, when it comes to environment and pacing of the sectors. And again, despite big numbers of enemies, he still knows how to put everything and not make it a borefest like so many mappers tend to do when they start putting all the foes on the maps. Excellent traps, big interconnected parts that are easy to distinguish. The gameplay naturally "flows" and you just can't stop playing it! The difficulty is set on a good level, I died a couple of times on UV but that's Doom. Really good work, and after finishing it I can see why Monolith hired Wilson. Because despite his reputation at the Blizzard, the guy simply knows how to make a good maps in FPS games.

Having some troubles with compiling Crispy Doom on Linux (last time it went ok but know - dunno the reason), I'm seeking for retro, leighweight port, does Chocolate Doom much differ from Crispy?

Recently there was released interesting wad named Foursite. It basically is merged 4 maps into one big. Finished it on UV, more than 1000 monsters to kill but the difficulty is really well balanced and despite how big the whole thing feels, it really shouldn't be a problem for Doom veterans to beat it. Lots of interesting ways with traps and building diffrent mazes for the player.

I just finished Doom Darkstar. It's a Russian wad by Vitalik K., and a somewhat obscure one, because when I tried to search for it I could find it only on a Russian site (I don't know how it ended on my HD, maybe someone already mentioned it in this thread). link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/pdm73fa99mbcc29/doom_darkstar_low.zip

It's a pretty awesome wad which consists of one huge area (a big spaceship) and a demonic plane. The textures are great (some probably from quake but most of them idk) and the gameplay interesting and challenging. It even has a nice zero-g portion.

Detailing and scripting were p impressive, especially since author never made anything before or since AFAIK. I have no idea why he didn't try to promote it on Doomworld considering the amount of effort that obviously went into it.

Tried the first few levels of Brutal Doom 64. It's cool, but having just finished the excellent Doom 64 EX I don't see a whole lot there that would make me replay with the Brutal version (at least not for another year or so). That said, if StgMark makes a Brutal Doom 64 campaign with anywhere near the effort of the Hell on Earth Starter Pack I would be eternally grateful.

Well, he intends to redesign the original maps and also add a number of new ones. I might eventually try it out for that, minus the BD's gameplay changes which don't interest me. Though, I saw the new opening map on YT, and it doesn't look too promising, it feels pointless and out of place.
