I happen to like Skyrim quite a bit "for what it is" but then again with mods why should I keep the things I don't enjoy if the can be modded away? In this case I want to try a scaler remover where you can run into a high level vampire or low level bandit in the same dungeon to try to relieve that old skol unpredicatbility. I have read of Skyre and Requiem but thoses seem to change to many things I want to keep the vanilla perks and loot system but just to target enemies...is there such a thing?

Mostly because I like to use my own mods for example I have a magic mod which changes magic perks (Empowered Magic) and a mod which already affects item spawns (Morroloot) and I rather mix and match what content I like rather than a huge overhaul

I don't like heavy over haul mods because I use mods I already like for changing magic and magic perks (Empowered Magic) and items and equipment (Morroloot) but I am always open to suggestions

Hahaha yeah it does sound awesome!
My sister has been trying the Skyrim Unleashed mod and the only thing I need to say its that "it made her feel like she was playing Dark Souls..."

Why?
Why the fuck would you want to keep a system where you can easily pick any lock without skill or perk investments, or where you can get *heavy* armor perk that allows you to reduce falling damage?
:retarded:
Actually, the game does explain why a novice can pick master locks: Luck from Nocturnal. There was even a specific line of dialogue from Karliah saying that. But the problem is that in actual gameplay you don't pick a master lock as a novice because of luck but because you have a bunch of lockpicks and trial & error.

Another somewhat related gaping hole is that the lack of luck affects everyone in the Theives' Guild but the pc. (It's sillier with Requiem where you can get 100% pickpocket success chance.) It'd have been nice if all the thief skills had a permanent penalty until you completed the Thieves' Guild questline.

A pal just gifted me the legendary edition of Skyrim. What sort of mods would be considered "must" to make this game playable these days? As far as I know Requiem/SkyUI/TrueCompass/BetterQuestText gets you already far but is there more essentials?

Amongst the mods I am using, I would say:

Unofficial Patch.

Gameplay
Requiem or SkyRe for combat and character development overhaul; below assumes you chose Requiem
Apocalypse magic package for some more spells and stuff.
Skyrim Immersive Creatures - pick lore friendly to add a few monsters, there are more invasive & extensive ones out there though.

Looks
ENB - some kind of ENB mod, e.g. Project ENB, if you like what it does with post-production.
Skyrim HD Textures - seriously, everything in that game looks like vomit otherwise.
Climates of Tamriel - has addons for rain, storms, snow, etc.
Realistic Lighting - just fiddle with settnigs so interiors aren't pitch dark.
Audio Overhaul - ambient sounds, etc.
Improved NPC Clothing - mostly they wear vomit.

Usability
SkyUI - needed for mods these days and a must anyway to slightly deconsolise the UI.
Even Better Quest Objectives - Requiem removes quest compass etc., but then you will need this so your journal actually tells you what to do and you aren't completely stuck.

Can't recommend this one enough once it's out. The previous version from which this mod is based on was great:

    - Can save up to 384 uniqu NPCs
    - Labor pains added
    - I added some kinds of damage (giving birth, Labor pains, Mittelschmerz, menstraul gramps)
    - Labor pains and replanish phase are added.
    - Animations are added (when taking damage or giving birth)
    - Menstrual blood added
    - Pregnant water breaking added
    - Pregnacy Abortus added
    - Loosing the unborn child when drinking to much alcohol or you took to much damage.
    - Information Menu
    - Male compatiblity (when the Player is a male he got a menu where he can see the womans he impregnate)
    - 2 Perks that reduce damage
    - Pregnant with up to 6 Babys
    - Stop the timer - this makes the state freezing so the Player can stay pregnant.
    - Show Stats Info Spell - This spell Shows the state of a woman
    - Anti Sperm Essence (cooking recipe to make vinega for washing out sperm - like in old days)

So I finished the main questline. Requiem's Alduin turned out to be easier than I had feared, especially considering stealth doesn't work against him. I did go prepared with some heavy artillery, though, including fire/frost/shock enchanted dragonbone bows and dragonbone arrows (shock seemed to do most damage), plus potent healing potions and magic resist potions. (I actually forgot to take a few vitality potions to counter his Drain Vitality shout, but I only got hit by that shout twice, the second time being right before I landed the final blow, and the healing potions I had were quite sufficient.) As for the undead he summons, I got a bit lucky there. The first time he summoned them I ran back to the bridge and took out them using fire bow and arrows as they came in a file. The second time he summoned them on the other side of the hill; I stayed on the opposite side of the hill so that they never noticed me or came after me, therefore Alduin never summoned them again. At that point it was a cakewalk: bring him down, dodge his shout and shoot a few arrows, repeat until he stops flying and then finish him off.

Overall I'd say it was easier than when I fought him the first time. Previously there wasn't much room to manoeuvre on the mountain whereas the second time plenty of room to stay away from him and dodge his shouts.

I'd say edgy, but that would be giving a joke that was old half a decade ago too much recognition.
