Why are people saying in the BG3-thread that Sawyer is preparing to jump ship from Obsidian? Where would he go?
EDIT: There was this tweet:
And then this message:
Sawyer is on the move with Pillars3.
Or did I misunderstand it?
go bern
This combined with his tweet throwing shade at them for calling it Baldur's Gate 3 shows that he's anti larian. we should start respecting him again.
I wish Josh did what Avellone has been doing and become a mercenary in the gaming industry. Instead of writing though, Josh roams around company to company to give their games balance. When Josh appears, balance is here.
imagine sawyer trying to make every dota hero equally viable in every role.
If he was truly humble, he wouldn't be spending his time writing for a new RPG he's directing after a universally negative reaction to his last writing (in addition to at least two coworker recommendations that he no longer write for projects he directs which he ignored, leading to the universally negative reaction). The saddest thing about Josh is that he seems to be truly broken by POE2's financial failure. From what he occasionally writes in his twitter and tumbler it is quite clear that Josh has lost faith in himself as a crpg developer. So I wouldn't expect a realistic historical cRPG from him in the nearest future, and Microsoft's refusal to finance the thing is the smallest part of the problem. Now Sawyer is a humble GROUNDED person.
Yeah, just nostalgic. He is tweeting useless things.
What is wrong with Josh Sawyer?
I think talking about The Black Hound after the BG3 reveal just made him nostalgic in general.
Insofar as every single game Sawyer has ever been involved in is better than Larian's best, he needn't weep, unless it all boils down the benjamins.
I would rather play DD a thousand times over before ever touching Seven Sorrows.
...?I would rather play DD a thousand times over before ever touching Seven Sorrows.
All his work was thrown out, they just included him in the credits because he worked on a version.
La Serenissima is Dying
Michele Ratti to the Franciscan Piero, lately of Ferrara.
La Serenissima is dying, Piero. They are holding the boats at San Marco, the travelers at the monastery. It will be their tomb. From the city, many have left for the countryside. Even the Longhi, who should be supporting the republic in its time of need, have gone. Venice is flooded with the dead, and I fear that God will sink those who remain into the lagoons.
O, my brother, I will not go. In truth, were I capable of fleeing, I might attempt it. It is certain there is no room on the few ships that are able to leave. Many cities are already prohibiting Venetians from coming within their walls. What has become of the power of the lion, Piero? Perhaps this is a tithe for the great wages of sin our generations have left unpaid. If it is so, Venice will be the first of many to suffer. I see the maiden in black that walks after Matins as death. She is come for the iniquitous, and I am among them.
You should not consider me insolent, but I thought at first of appealing to God because I am Milanese. I then realized that, in His Judgment, this alone would not be enough to secure my mortal salvation. If you forgive this first hesitation to write to you, please indulge a second. I would have appealed to Lucchino Visconti to pray on the behalf of all Milan outside her walls, but I doubt God would listen to one as vain as he, nor the great Visconti to a scoundrel such as I. Therefore, I confess, I am left with only you, Pierino. As an orphan, I had only you, and in my final hours, it is to you I return. I thought I would never forgive you for abandoning me for God. He has the entire living world to serve him and all the dead at Judgment. We had no one.
Where have these years taken us, Pierino? I married better than I should have, as all of Venice knows and has noted over the years. I had two children, but God claimed them. Perhaps this was in His design and wisdom; how could it be otherwise? Leonora died last winter. In truth, she was never fond of me.
The other day, I remembered when you and I traveled to Genoa. It was many years ago. In the brothel, there was a Circassian woman named Seteney. I was afraid, but you told me to be brave. I loved her, Piero. I did not understand it then. We were very young. I wanted to take her with us. I dreamt of leaving with you and Seteney, out into the sea. It was foolishness, of course. How could a republic endure if all its citizens, transient or resident, fled into the sea? When I am gone, do not let them say that Michele Ratti did not do his civic duty, as much as a responsible private citizen is capable of. This comedy conceals the tragedy of it: that it did not have to be so. For all that I have left undone, I carry sorrow to my grave.
I am now at the home of Lorenzo Foscari. The hawk-faced doctors said they will leave me here when I pass. They dare not touch us. The dead of this home are to be quarantined, like those in the monastery. After this has ended, I beg of you, bear me to Milan. I have already taken my portion of forgiveness from the church. I could not leave this world without asking for yours. Remember me fondly. If this is not possible, remember me as I was.

The moral failings of the socialist apparatchiks do not invalidate the merits of Marxism-Leninism any more than the corruption found within the political elites of modern capitalist societies invalidates free market democracies.A commie supporter like him should check out "Das Leben der Anderen"
I prefer the developed theory of Mazovian socio-economics.The moral failings of the socialist apparatchiks do not invalidate the merits of Marxism-Leninism any more than the corruption found within the political elites of modern capitalist societies invalidates free market democracies.
That being said, one of the better German movies. Up there with Der Baader Meinhof Komplex, Good Bye, Lenin! and Das Boot.
Mixed with some good ol' Revacholian nationalism and you get pure disco.I prefer the developed theory of Mazovian socio-economics.The moral failings of the socialist apparatchiks do not invalidate the merits of Marxism-Leninism any more than the corruption found within the political elites of modern capitalist societies invalidates free market democracies.

Mazovia (Polish: Mazowsze) is a historical region in mid-north-eastern Poland. It spans the North European Plain, roughly between Lodz and Bialystok, with Warsaw being the unofficial capital and largest city. Throughout the centuries, Mazovia developed a separate sub-culture featuring diverse folk songs, architecture, dress and traditions different from those of other Poles.
