Quick question:

At the moment I only have my office PC (i5-8400 | 16GB RAM) with just an onboard graphic chip (Intel UHD Graphics 630). Do you guys think, this game will run properly with this configuration?

Hard to say, some games just hate integrated graphics and Kenshi is not exactly well optimized. The game lags pretty heavily on my outdated but full graphic card even with minimal setup.

It should run on integrated GPU's but needs SSD for sure.

Kenshi works fine on my laptop. Has the usual freeze when you quickly switch zones. Installing mods like compressed graphics and less clutter works wonders too.

I'm on an actual spaceship. No joke.
Hey bros what are the cool or essential mods?

Been running with a crew of two (and a pack animal) for a while now. Never seem to find any recruitables in settlements apart from one in that Hub place. Only reason I have a bro is because I saved his life. Got a fair bit of cash but nothing to spend it on. Is my game bugged or do people hardly ever offer their services?

Edit: Non-steam mods, that is

You should need only a few mods for Kenshi: a better map (there are several possibilities), Let's Talk (more comments from squad members), and more world-state changes (Reactive World or the newer Living World).

For recruits, I suggest checking the wiki page on unique recruits, since they're more interesting than the randomized recruits you should be able to find in nearly every bar in the game (these recruits are usually associated with the Drifters faction).

Anything that increases faction size to 256.

And the nude mod.

Don't waste your time at bar dumbfucks with all stats at 1. The best way to conscript lots of people with good stats is to catch a lot of under-25 prisoners (reaver slaves work best), drop them at a slaver's house (do not sell them), wait for them to be enslaved, then buy their freedom. About one out of 4 will join your party either at once or after you escort him way outside.

OFC you need lots of money and a decent starting party to procure prisoners. Alternately, you may try just releasing them, but that's less efficient. Until then, camp at Eyesocket slaver base and wait for their stables to fill with captive grass pirates and outlaw farmers, who attack constantly as long as you are there.

Honestly, looks like Borderlands. I personally don't mind, though.

There's also less cartoony version https://www.nexusmods.com/kenshi/mods/569/

Really like the looks of this one over the more Borderlands looking one. Do you need to install the original mod, and then this one for it to work? I'm trying to get it to work without much luck.

EDIT: Nevermind, got it to work. You don't need the original mod or anything. My error was using the Vortex mod manager to install it rather than just doing it manually. It looks really great. Gives the game this ethereal sketched-over kind of look to it.

EDIT 2: After having played with it for a couple hours, I unfortunately have come to the conclusion I can't play wit it. Major reasons being a significant hit to my FPS on my mid-higher range system, it totally fucks with the appearance of text in the game, and makes the inventory UI a muddy mess. Real shame, cause it really gave the world a unique look.

On the up side, I played the game for the first time in about a year for like 6 hours straight. I forgot how much like crack this game is once you get the ball rolling. I think my end goal for this playthrough is going to be building an island fort and wiping out the major faction that happens to incur my wrath the most. Going to be a long time until that's remotely possible.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
When is a good time to settle?
I have a crew of 7 with attack and defense around 15-20, but they cannot handle much (1 on 1 vs bandits or starved bandits is the most they can do), so it doesn't seem like a very reasonable move to leave now, but I'd like starting on my own walled city ASAP.

Depends on the zone, if you have dragon ninjas attacking raiding you, youll need a bigger and stronger crew, even if its just dust bandits youll prob need a stronger crew. If it is in the holy nation you should accept their religion.

There is a nice little bowl in the cannibal plains that makes for a good base and they are pretty easy to deal with.

A bunch of turrets aimed at the gates in U-shaped killzone handles pretty much any raids, unless they number hundreds. So, anything but Fog Islands and Skinner Roam works.

I had good experience with 6-man crew and an unwalled base at a high traffic location (Grey Desert). Sure there was raiders, but there were so many that they were fighting each other. Plus some other random visitors. And the raiders are nice enough to stop coming, if you leave your base empty and go wandering elsewhere for a while. My stats were higher that 15-20 though. Somewhere in 30-40 range.

Buy maybe one or two pack bulls for hauling your building materials around and whatnot; you can settle very quickly that way if you know a few basic buildings. They also come in handy when you are overwhelmed by large crowds of enemies, like fugmen. Watch those limbs fly all over the place.

Long shit.
Also, I would recommend running around in the UC desert for a few more days if you think your lads are a bit squishy. It's a pretty good place for early and mid-game, especially the W-NW edge where the desert meets cannibal country. There are some ruined settlements there and the Samurai and the Holy Nation constantly clashed when I settled there in my first game. Cannibals also turned up occasionally. It's easy to get strong there when the UC constantly save you from being carried away for dinner.

One spot worth considering for bases, albeit tricky to get to early on. There's a very fertile and resource-rich little valley in the south-eastern Fog Islands. I think you can actually see the greener spot clearly on the game's map, high up in the hills and above the fog. I made a small base there with 10 men and one pack bull. Built a wall to block some entrances, made two gates, and several farms in the middle of the valley, and then kept rescuing new recruits from the fogmen poles. There's iron, copper and plenty of wind around the edges. One major downside was that getting to Mongrel for emergencies can be a running battle.

Here's a late-game picture of parts of the base. It's a tight fit alright, but there was enough space for an arena back there.
