wait, no denuvo? So that means it will probably be on GOG and I should buy it there. I'm angry now, I already invested in CS2 skins that will likely rise in price to sell for KCD2 :argh:

In the Q&A they mentioned GOG but it doesn't sound like it'll be day one.
Yeah, KCD1 didn't come to GOG until the Royal Edition released, I believe.

But hey, no Denuvo is always nice.

A bear would easily crush a man in plate armor. Plate armor was fairly thin, designed to stop sharp objects (swords, speartips, arrowtips), cannot stand up to massive bear strength.

However, there is a bright side. There is no way in hell a bear would be able to fuck a man in plate armor in the ass.
No, mail was designed to stop sharp objects like swords and spears, plate was designed to deflect a charging fucking lance. A bear has absolutely jack shit that can slash or pierce through it, so unless he gets the bright idea to park his hairy ass on top of you and do some major teabagging, you'll make it. Dents and bruises, maybe broken bones, but Smokey will get bored of you soon enough.

Ironically, plate wouldn't prevent a Belgian bear from charging his lance up your ass because the area under the fauld is only protected by a mail skirt. Unless it's a German harness, because Germans experimented with mail boxers. Incidentally, Germany's not that far from Belgium, so they may have had good reason.

Kingdom Come 2 at Launch Without Denuvo. Game Runs Smoothly on RTX 3050

Rumors about the implementation of Denuvo in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 turned out to be untrue. The developers denied them during a stream.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was rumored to use Denuvo anti-piracy protection on personal computers at the beginning of October. This news met with a cold reception, as the controversial DRM isn't popular among the community, which according to its creator, results from its high effectiveness.

Fortunately, the developers from Warhorse Studios themselves came with good news. During yesterday's stream, they announced that the second installment of Kingdom Come won't use Denuvo. Below you can watch a specific clip from Sir Toby's statement. [...]

The devs also announced that the system requirements for the "sequel" will be known by the end of the year. However, they pointed out that the game is already running well and that they have learned a lot from the release of the first installment, so players should be positively surprised in this area. Sir Tobi mentioned that he uses an RTX 3050 at home and the game runs very smoothly.

I think people will be really surprised at the type of PC that will be able to run the game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released on February 11 on PC, PS5, and XSX/X consoles. Below you will find a recording of the stream dedicated to the game, featuring many minutes of new gameplay:

Who says they can't renege on this, or simply changed their minds? Once the game is being released we'll know.

No Denuvo DRM, boys.

Edit: I have no idea why the embed isn't working properly.

Look at 43:20
Edit 2: Decent gameplay footage.

Stitching arbitrarily German and English words together to create faux authenticity is so cringe. And the accents are all Hochdeutsch, which makes it even more cringe and totally out of place.

They didn't comment on the rumours for over a month, my guess is there were negotiations behind closed doors and they announced "no Denuvo" only after they convinced Plaion. So there will be no reneging now.

Does anyone know if the devs said anything about the game running on the steam deck? From the footage, it feels like the game is more optmized than the first game but im unsure how well it will run on the deck.
Played the first game entirely on the deck with FPS capped at 40 (for frame consistency and little bit more battery life) and it played decently well minus busy towns/rainfall tanking fps and few minor graphical glitches (probably a proton/linux thing).

To be fair, people who don't speak some foreign language fluently don't typically substitute words they don't know with those from their native language. Instead they just talk around the unknown words, building much simpler, clumsy sentences.

So it IS kindda cringe, I agree with the local village idiot. A much better solution would be to let Menhardt speak some kind of monkey English, without any German words, and now and then speak fluent German with his compatriots, that would communicate the point much more naturally.

It sort of reminded me of Henry trying to read with a low Reading skill in the first game, maybe once they ditch all the actual voice actors in favor of AI generated lines we can have actual language skills in RPGs again.

The original barely runs on my desktop.
Must be positively ancient the first game ran on my long in the tooth 750-ti.

Edit: In fact I wasn't even going to buy KCD until I got a system upgrade but they had a free weekend on steam and I was surprised I could get a stable 60 fps on medium settings.

Well, i guess i was exaggerating a bit.

Still. Ryzen 5600x, 5700xt at 1440p everything high but shadows and shaders at medium, i got over 60 FPS (often up to 90) in most places but in heavy areas like Rattay it could drop to 30-40 FPS.

That's your issue right there, on a 3080 I just maxed out everything at 4k and still got just over 60 fps in Rattay market square. Cryengine always favored Nvidia somewhat and KCD even more so.

Bruh, the 3080 is:

a) a generation younger
b) much more powerful
c) TWICE as expensive

as 5700xt.

What are you even talking about.

cvv Didn't mean it as a direct comparison obviously, but it's the only numbers I can give. And 4k is much more demanding so he should be getting more performance out of that config if the engine bias didn't exist - AMD gpu issues with KCD are well known at this point. But hopefully since Vavra himself now has AMD the sequel will be more performant:

Wait is this performance on KCD2?

Cos if it is... FSR but not DLSS... don't do this Warhorse, don't be Starfield all over again

It is yeah, but iirc that tweet was like a month ago and they're spending all their remaining time until february on bug fixes and performance, so those values aren't even close to final. Hopefully. :greatjob:

Plus drops in Rattay have nothing to do with GPU. If performance was GPU limited we'd probably be getting more drops in forests, due to all the shadows from vegetation and the like. But it's the NPCs that cause drops instead.

This is bottlenecked firstly by CPU and secondly by the engine itself, which is simply not designed for handling this many NPCs at once and becomes very inefficient. GPU does not help much. My desktop is several generations older than yours, I play with almost all settings maxed in 1080p with the hires textures DLC and I also get about 30 fps in Rattay/Sasau and about 60 outside. I think there's a good chance that KCD2 is going to be mildly better at this task despite being more demanding overall because they are well aware that this was an issue for almost everyone.

^ I got so tired of stutters every time I came close to higher number of NPCs that I just limited framerate to 30 and got used to that. Increased resolution to 1440p with downsampling and made the game prettier via config files too. Like setting shadow resolution to 2560, which is 2.5x value of maximum in game setting. Made big difference in forests and with night shadows in town. Also way quieter PC while playing. Until I get a cpu that can handle stable 60 near NPCs this is much prefferable to me. I probably will be playing KCD2 this way too.

They've confirmed FSR and DLSS will both be available.
