They've been writing a game for 5 years and came with NWN?? God, thats sad.
:)
indeed

Who cares about 90% of (shitty) games being unfinished?
1 good but unfinished kotor2 is a larger disaster than 999 unfisished nwn1, kotor1, jade empire, oblivion, halo etc.

Agree with that, good sir. I'm playing KotOR 2 right now and its miles ahead of JE or KotOR 1.

" I seriously doubt there are so many games with almost 1/3 storyline cut out
he is right in the other thing - yes."

It's ncie to take random numbers out of your ass and try to pass them as factual, right? I know. I did it with the 90%. You did it with the 1/3. We're even.

" I'm playing KotOR 2 right now and its miles ahead of JE or KotOR 1."

About even with KOTOR1; nowhere near JE. JE is much, much better.

yes because Bioware is also exceptionally good at making some shitty pseudo-philosophical chinese dialogues.
I can't understand what the fuck they are talking about wow this game is so deep

Time for a revolt

It looks like we have a nice revolt brewing on the TG forums now:

http://forums.team-gizka.org/viewtopic. ... &sk=t&sd=a

I know the thread will probably be locked. I posted my own feelings as darkgamorck on the second page and will probably be banned for it (apparently my first ban was temporary).

I'm moving on. Screw TSLRP. I want to play TSL again and I've waiting over two years to do so. I'm tired of waiting for these slow pokes. Time to move on.

If you don't want to try this out, then you are free to do that. I already played the game and I have all the patience in the world to wait for this until I play it again. Because it will be different. These guys making it doesn't owe me anything, I just appreciate that they do this thing.

Is it so hard to wait for a mod for a game? Sure, I'd like to see this finished right *NOW* as well, but that won't happen. Are you actively sitting at your computer, KOTOR2 discs in hand, starting at their bug counter or something?

Go play something else, or play through KOTOR2 again without the mod. Check back every now and then and see if progress has been made. It's not worth getting so pissy over. It's not some earth-shattering event that will suddenly turn KOTOR2 into a glorious jewel, easily putting every game in the universe to shame because of the outstanding restored content.

Actually, reading that thread, it's apparent to me that the project is dead. From one of the developers:

For me at least, it's simply a case of having no time. I've just finished first semester at Uni though so I have heaps of time now. I should also point out though I've quite busy creating and testing my own mod, now up to v4 of 'Return of the Clones' for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption.
The developers are not busy working on the project, they're busy with their lives and the project is stalled. And even when they DO have free time, they're working on OTHER mods. They've lost interest, but they haven't realized it yet. Better to just write it off as vaporware and be done with it.

well sure they've burned out. it was almost 3 years.
btw the last bugfix for TSLRP was made on May 18...

and yes I think it is almost vapourware. but with random signs of life, which are very rare. I'm not speaking about bugfixes - look - even bug reports stopped flowing.

Just everyone shut up and fucking wait. Jee! You don't have a damn right to this mod. It won't even cost money. And if it takes another three years!

That said, how can you believe in the sheer word "vapourware"?

Picture someone escaping from a prison that is surrounded by hundred walls. Would he, after scaling wall number 95, five walls away from freedom, stop climbing because he "got tired"? I can't believe you could even think such a thing!

They've been steadily making new b-builds. I have no idea where you get your delusions of stagnations from. May 18? That wasn't even two months ago. A little patience, if you please!

Yah, they must be getting tired of the project in general. And they've probably realized that even should they manage a last burst of effort to finish it, it's really not going to make any difference for them personally; they've already played the game to death and the patch' isn't suddenly going to make the game fun again.

Yeah, it's not going to make any difference for many people anymore. Someone @ their forums did a count of posts & membership registrations, and they've apparently dropped off hugely. People lost interest en masse.

The phenomenon is interesting to me. I never knew what word to put for this -- anticipation drain? But I was listening to an interview between Paizo & Green Ronin, and they had a term for it which is apparently common in the industry. It was "PR exhaustion" or something like that. Here's a link:

http://greenronin.com/2008/05/green_ron ... cast_4.php

The idea is that each product has a window of time that it can do well, and as you stall, your base of support erodes and (this is the surprising part) doesn't come back even when the product finally does arrive. Since they're making a living off this stuff, they seem to dread this situation and are hyper-vigilant against the attrition. The whole podcast isn't about just that, and it goes on for over an hour, so you should probably be interested in Paizo or D&D before bothering to listen.

Anyway, if the KotOR 2 restoration team manages to get lots done and deliver a product in the next few weeks, I'll happily reconsider my decision to write them off. But eventually I'm putting KotOR 2 up on eBay, as I no longer truly believe I'll get a second use out of it.

They're almost done. I don't think they'd get there and then stop. And if, the beta will most likely be released and fixed by others.

In all cases, we win. If you're like me, you won't mind winning for free, whenever it happens.

last time when someone wrote in this thread "they are now climbed 700 walls - will they stop climbing because another 30?" the jailers have built another 200

I'm not saying anything like "give me the project NAO!!". but the project really shows all signs of the lost interest.

No, they will keep the project locked inside a chest in a basement and from time to time they'll go there to fondle it and call it "my precioussss".

I think the problem is that they're acting like big time developer douchebags by not giving an estimate. They have to have some idea if it will be finished to summer or next year.

Without deadlines, most projects are doomed to fall into "development hell." In this case, they want to fix all the known bugs before release, and there will always be another bug discovered before they finish.

While I have my doubts about this project (no sign of activity for a month or so) I still think they'll finish it. Like Xor said, without deadlines you're fucked. But I hope the team will be in full force this summer, squishing bugs. I really do. It would be a damned shame to choke when you're so close.

This thing has slipped into development hell a very long time ago. I still have some hope that we'll eventually see this thing shipped, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Though I somehow think that what we'll see won't be that interesting anyway. Just like games that went trough development hell mostly suck, I found that mods tend to do the same.
