People, don't download this. it isn't finished. according to Darth Windu's post here: http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic ... &start=255 1.0b8 still has broken Droid Factory and several other bugs that will break a gaming experience for you.
also from some earlier threads on TG forums it appears that older saves won't work with the newer TSLRP versions.
also about the possible leak of the beta (posted a week ago or so):"Hope it doesn't happen. The team has spend a huge amount of time and effort on this project. It's close to completion, but it's not there yet. The last thing I would want is people getting their hands on the beta, thinking its the real deal, and then being disappointed because of the state it's in." - DarthWindu
DarthWindu said:Personally I doubt this is even the real dea. IF it is, and I stress IF, then both gamorck/jaylittle and anyone downloading this is partially responsible for the destruction of the modding community for KotOR. Show some respect people - IF this is the beta, choose not to download it. Not only because it most likely would have been obtained via identity theft, not only because of the years of hard work put into it, but also because you WILL be disappointed in the beta, IF it is real.
Either way, the TSLRP is NOT for distribution to the general public. As the team has mentioned many times in the past, it is still in the beta stage to fix bugs and make the whole experience playable.
For the record: We've had this thing for weeks. We've played through a good chunk of it though not all of it. In it's current state, the game is much more complete than it ever was in it's original form. The experience thus far has been infinitely more enjoyable than past play throughs.
Lets be honest though - the TSLRP project is dying a slow death. Darth Windu can argue this point all he wants, but the beta testers aren't testing and the developers are for the most part not putting a whole lot of time into development. Not to mention the Beta Testers have very little motiviation to push for a release since they've already gotten what they wanted: A complete version of TSL. Prior to the Closed Beta releases, there were months of inactivity on the part of Team Gizka. We firmly believe they used the Closed Beta release as a way to motivate themselves into finishing the project. Based on the level of activity recently, it clearly hasn't worked. The responsibility for this clearly falls in part to the closed beta testers as they clearly haven't spent a whole lot of time on the project.
With this release, we have ensured that this project will one day be completed. Whether or not TG fizzles out is no longer a concern. Using the resources installed with this mod in addition to the source code provided as a free download on Team Gizka's site for 1.0b8 allows anybody to begin writing code and extending the mod. It should also be possible to download the updated nss files from TGs site when future releases like 1.0b9 come out and integrate those changes directly into this installation regardless of whether or not an updated installer is leaked.
In summary, this mod now truly belongs to the community. Not just a bunch of guys who would occasionally put in a few minutes of testing or development here or there and then go off and spend their time doing something else. It is now up to the community to pick where TG has left off. Of course the hope here is that now there has been a release, TG will see the sense in open sourcing further development and involve the community as a whole. More than likely however TG will either close up shop or tighten up their group.
Also just in case any of you were wondering, I personally received this installer from a nameless source. Apparently that person also received it from another nameless individual. Somewhere down the line there is rumored to be at least one beta tester identified as the source. This thing has been floating around in private since it's closed beta release in mid May. I was tasked with making a proper release of it this week in order to fulfill my commitment to the team. I have now done so.
As for this not being finished, its about 98% done. Don't take too many of Darth's comments seriously as he himself has admitted that he has not played through the mod in the last several builds. We noticed a few annoyances, nothing major yet. However we have not made it to the droid factory as of yet, but since that is what we consider optional content, it can be overlooked for the time being.

I have to agree with these words however - but in the meaning that this actually was the reason. a 1.5 months hole in which beta-testers waited for 1.0b9 which still didn't arrive - the lack of a motivation as a result. and here we have what we have.Lets be honest though - the TSLRP project is dying a slow death. I guess we will all know soon enough. Either way I think the leaker is right, there is no need to worry about it anymore. One way or another TSLRP will be completed whether TG gets off their rears and does it or the modding community for KOTOR takes it up now that they have everything they need to do so.Starwars said:It's amusing how he says the mod is about 98% done, and yet mentions that they haven't even made it to the droid factory yet. But hey, even if the droid factory will be buggy, it doesn't matter for now cause it's optional content. Wow.
Impressive!
