Most of us have waited patiently, it's all we can do considering they're not getting paid and it's a labor of love. They don't owe the Kotor2 community anything.

STILL, they should just release it as is, let someone else pick up the ball or commit to finishing it within a reasonable time. Or have never announced it to begin with. By announcing it and setting up a website and forum they gave us reason to have certain expectations.

It seems like there ARE people willing to help them finish it, people who really care about the game and the community. Why won't they let them? Ego maybe?

It's hard to say what is going on over there. The evidence points to the project dying while the Team is telling us something different. I figure one way or another though, this thing is going to see a release, official or not. I would guess that if another beta build isn't released within the next couple months, some of the people with access to it, could be persuaded to let it slip out.

But seeing that there are already at least two fixes committed for 1.0b9, it would be easy to stave that off by simply releasing what they have as another beta build to keep the nervousness from spreading to the testers.

So I figure by the end of the year, this thing will be publicly available as a download. One way or another. Though only thing that worries me at this point, is that if it leaks, TG might just walk away from the whole thing. And that would be a damn shame seeing how much time and effort has already been put into it.

Actually, reading that thread, it's apparent to me that the project is dead. From one of the developers:

For me at least, it's simply a case of having no time. I've just finished first semester at Uni though so I have heaps of time now. I should also point out though I've quite busy creating and testing my own mod, now up to v4 of 'Return of the Clones' for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption.
The developers are not busy working on the project, they're busy with their lives and the project is stalled. And even when they DO have free time, they're working on OTHER mods. They've lost interest, but they haven't realized it yet. Better to just write it off as vaporware and be done with it.
Actually to clarify - I am not, nor have at any time been, a developer for TSLRP. I am a simple beta tester, nothing more. I cannot and do not speak for Team Gizka, so my comments should not be taken in any way to represent the views of TG.

Darth, as a beta tester could you tell us wheter or not the game is playable with the mod right now? Is it really necessary to drag the whole thing and torture all those people who want the mod no matter if its ridden with bugs?

also another question - how destructive is the recent slowdown to the project's development and when to expect some speed up?
and why is this slowdown there at all so even text-errors aren't being fixed?

Well that depends on what you mean by 'playable'. For the most part, yes it is. However some parts of it, especially the HK factory, are quite buggy. The main issue in this (I don't know if it's fixed, I haven't checked mantis) is that last time I played through it, it couldn't end the way it's supposed to, and was doing some wierd things to me. Actually at one point HK died, but instead of me being kicked back to the Exile and Atton on Citadel Station, they both appeared inside the factory...

The factory also has no journal entires. You can pretty much figure out what you're supposed to do, but it takes the fun out of. Plus I'm still of the opinion that the HK-50's in the factory are WAY too tough.

So technically, yes it's playable. I personally as a modder wouldn't release it in it's current form. It does still need extra work to be done on it to make it integrate properly into TSL.

As to the second question (didn't see it before I posted), it's not 'destructive' at all. Like we've all tried explaining, we all have private lives and other responsiblities. Recently the main problem has been that almost all of the team and betas are at university, and of course near the end of the semester we all get swamped by assignments and exams. As I mentioned on the TG forums I'm also in the process of developing v4 of my own mod for 'Empire at War', so I have to balance that with testing TSLRP, as well as work, family, and friends. I would assume it's the same for the other team members.

Interesting feedback. Well I've personally decided to stop trying to obtain this mod. Clearly the team has been well conditioned to resist attempts at social engineering. Nonetheless, I'm beginning to doubt we will see this thing anytime soon unless it happens in the form of a leak.

Oh well. All's well that ends well I suppose. Unless you are a disgruntled KOTOR2 fan that is.

Hope it doesn't happen. The team has spend a huge amount of time and effort on this project. It's close to completion, but it's not there yet. The last thing I would want is people getting their hands on the beta, thinking its the real deal, and then being disappointed because of the state it's in.

This is amusing to me, in that the same bitching and moaning about this project was the same shit that was going on during the Ultima V: Lazarus development. Though, Ultima projects DO have a bad reputation of never getting finished.

I'm sure this project will get finished, it will just be a while.

Just everyone shut up and fucking wait. Jee! You don't have a damn right to this mod. It won't even cost money. And if it takes another three years!

That said, how can you believe in the sheer word "vapourware"?

Picture someone escaping from a prison that is surrounded by hundred walls. Would he, after scaling wall number 95, five walls away from freedom, stop climbing because he "got tired"? I can't believe you could even think such a thing!

They've been steadily making new b-builds. I have no idea where you get your delusions of stagnations from. May 18? That wasn't even two months ago. A little patience, if you please!

Scaling walls isn't exactly the best analogy. If the technical glitches being encountered by the team can't be surmounted then the project isn't going to get finished, no matter how hard they want to (or try). Those last five walls are electrified, so to speak, and the only outcome is impact with the pavement.

There is something weird about your quote there Darth. You are using words like "hope" instead of telling us it won't. Did somebody actually manage to get a copy this time around? I know that my two PMs on the forums didn't work out all that well for me and even resulted in a temporary IP ban, but I gather from the forums that there has recently been another attempt, though the implication was that it failed miserably.

I only say 'hope it doesnt happen' simply because frankly, IF people got their hands on the TSLRP beta, I think they'd be quite disappointed. Basically it would be like buying TSL all over again - great content, yet incomplete and lacking because of it.

It's the real deal too. The custom intro movie referenced by the team in the forums is in there. Time to get cracking! TPB is the place to be fellas.

Woops, seems like it's a Public Beta.

Odd, there's nothing on the Team Gizka site mentioning it; or I'm blind.
