They're modders. Of course they'll stop working on it now.

Good thing the mod now belongs to the people so the community will finish it! [Hint: communism doesn't work because when something belongs to everyone, nobody feels responsible]

I hope they don't finish it because it will reveal them for the frauds they always were. This was never about fixing a broken game or letting the fans play it as it was always intended to be played. It was about some pimply lonesome manchildren hungry for attention, unable to swing a mopstick for it, and thus constructing a project that did a better job of proving Zeno's Paradox of Motion than proving they could fix the game.

What possible justification could the leak provide for not finishing the game? Why leave the game unfinished and the public denied the full experience they promised simply because of one bad actor? IT makes no sense. It's just an excuse.

In fact, a lot of people think that it's possible TG leaked this themselves, knowing they were too lazy to ever finish the project, ashamed of how mediocre it was as it stood, and eager to find a way to show off their meager achievements yet escape from the task of finishing the job. In that sense, stopping the project is like lifting sanctions on North Korea; it's the best a loser can do to salvage the shambles of his work.

The leaked beta is nearly finished. That's been the biggest criticism from posters here since the leak. How is TSLRP about attention-whoring, again?

Ever worked on something, only to have it released before you finish it? Probably not, I can't see an idiot like you actually working on anything.

You're not 'a lot of people', you know. Just a lone idiot, pissing into the wind.

If you go to the forums, not the TSLRP ones, but the other ones, you'll tend to see a lot of people who are suspicious of the timing of this leak.

Hm. It's pretty meh. Some cool things but nothing that can greatly improve the game.

well the main fixes in the mod were restored endings and fixed/restored in-party relations/quests (if you remember HK47's/Goto's quests were broken) and a droid factory which isn't a small deal. it isn't meh - just helps KotOR2 to be consistent, without plot holes.
isn't that what was the main reason people had problems enjoying it?

*cough*freespace 2 scp*cough*
actually that is a damn fine example of how you can make 50+ unrelated people to the project make bugfixes/add new features the way you want them and make them feel responsible for it

I see there's a lot of posts supporting Mr Little and his actions. Let me be clear about this - if this file is real, Mr Little has obtained it via illegal activites, and appropriate authorities will be notifed as such.

For those supporting him - well thats just charming. The team works for YEARS to give you all a FREE mod that they CHOSE to do in their spare time, and all you can do is champion a an impatient thief? That's nice, really nice.

Welcome to da intarwebz. Enjoy your stay.

Anyway, I hope Gizkas won't get butthurt and will finish the mod. We had enough :drama: this year when DBT refused to continue his work on Arcanum because of some racist moron.

(Probably going to regret getting involved here but somethings need to be set straight)

There seems to be a misunderstanding about the nature of the mod and it being "given back to the community". Er...last time I checked, the mod was never actually for the community. TG formed to create the project under their own guidelines for themselves. The fact that the cut content was so popular was what made the TG public ally and start a website and shabang. To be perfectly frank, it's true. The team never really gave a damn about the fans or the community. But don't take that as them stringing them along. Believe me, if I wasn't a beta tester, I'd probably be in your position, all pissed off that the project isn't complete. But rather, if there was no community or fan base, the team would be in the exact same position. Now maybe under different circumstances and we wouldn't be having this discussion since none of you would even know about it. When the team formed it wasn't:

"Lets create this mod for everyone to enjoy!"

But rather:

"Alright. Lets do it. And since those guys want it, I guess we can make it a public thing when it's done." (or something along those lines.)

To tell you the truth, most of the so-called "worshippers" were annoying as hell. If I was a member of the team, I'd be glad to give up celebrity status when it was all over. In a heart beat.

And I should note that even though this is now "released" (albeit it's not supposed to be and it is illegally obtained) no modding site would allow any versions to go up without TGs permission since they are the ones who put it together. So, really, it's not open to the community. Just a small band of users who circulate the mod amongst themselves.

Remember. I'm just a beta tester and I don't speak for the team. Neither does Darth Windu. Just saying it how I see it and how it's been presented towards me these past years. I really wish it hadn't come to this kind of nonsense and behavior. I mean, here you have a mod that clearly shows that there has been quite a deal of work and all you can do is trash the people who made it.

So what law exactly did he violate? It's unlikely that you'll be able to establish who had the copyright for any of the content involved in the patch. But I'll give you a hint -- it's almost certainly not you, unless there was some significant behind-the-scenes contractual relationship between you, Obsidian, and the individual participating modders. Your best bet is probably to claim that the leaker violated some license between him and TG, but that won't get jaylittle on the hook.

Fixed:
The team works for about 500 man hours spread over 20 people to get lots of attention and give nothing back, and all you can do is champion the person who returned that attention by delivering what was promised? That's nice, really nice.

I love how people crave attention and then claim that the attention they're getting is meaningless and they've done everything for nothing, nothing. If TG hadn't been running a site, if you hadn't been peddling news of your product to any website with two bits to brush together, stirring your sycophants into a mix of ecstasy and worship, then maybe you could claim this was a labor of generosity. But it's not. The fans bought your labor by their adulation; the only people who were ripped off in that relationship was them, and now everyone is even-steven.

I never claimed, at any time, that he had violated copyright laws. This is much more serious.

As for the team - did anyone force them to restore this content? Did anyone force people to follow the project? Did anyone force you to pay attention? No. Don't try blaming your own
inadequacies on TG.

Wow, that WanderingThrough2 guy is a long overdue for a dumbfuck title.
I may not be a Gizka-worshipper, and think that the leak may actually be good compared to release that only my grandchildren will play, but subj.

Personally, I would wait more for a polished release. Minus the 'grandchildren' part, of course.
All in all, remember Pratchett:
'What people want, and what people need are different things'.

I do wish that TG will just consider it an 'open beta' and continue the project.
If you simply abandon now due to abovementioned 'butthurt' - you will simply prove the leaker is right.
It's not 'daring' - it's truth, pure and simple.

Oh, much, much more serious. This was a crime against humanity!

Last I checked, most transactions aren't the result of one party compelling the other to do something. There wasn't force involved. TG said, "If you grovel at our feet, we will give you a mod." People groveled. The mod was not given. That's commonly called fraud. And it is a crime.

Please provide for us the quote, from a TG member, demanding that people grovel and that they would be rewarded with a mod.

This is simply an announcement of a work in progress in order to inform others who may be interested in the project.
Wow, gosh that MUST mean they want everyone to grovel for them

Ever heard the saying about people in glass houses?

Wesp5 vs. Tessera
Drog vs. Ruskie Bruthas
TG beta testers vs. swimmers of teh seven seas

Tessara found us with Google I believe. We just need to make the Codex less sexy so fewer sites link to it.

Anyway, I'm going to wait another month, if the mod isn't public by then I'll try it out. I'll gladly email bugs to TG, but I doubt they'll appreciate it :).

I ain't saying this leak is good, but maybe this kick in the nuts will stimulate TG to work on the mod... or dump it forever. Either way, there would be some sort of ending to this whole TSL Restoration thing. It sure as hell beats stasis.
