This is great. Darth would you mind telling everybody here what my/the leaker's alleged crime was? Here are the facts:

1) There is no copyright on this download, at least not owned by any of you on or associated with TG.

2) There was no possibility of revenue lost since it is was to be a free download when "completed".

Now here is what the leaker has said regarding the leak:

3) Somewhere down the line there is rumored to be at least one beta tester identified as the source.

If number 3 is true, all bets are off my friend. If somebody from your team gave out the address or whatever credentials might've been required to download it, then somebody from TG essentially provided permission. So unless the leaker has been lying to us, there has been no crime here. Perhaps the beta tester allegedly responsible committed a crime, but given the highly informal nature of your association, I doubt that as well. More than likely nobody ever signed anything regarding their commitment or what they were supposed to do or not do. On top of all this, while you continue to point the finger at me do try to recall that while I am obviously in the United States, the server in question is in Canada. So on top of an already impossible argument, you now have to contend with the fact that it is an international issue.

Free free to take another hit and elaborate though. Be sure to tell us about all the rabbits too. Or you could just let it go. There is nothing to be gained from getting your panties in a wad about something you've apparently dreamed up.

Well, the smart thing to do is to treat is like a public beta and get something positive out of this whole mess.

And I still don't know if the leaked content is any good. Anyone?

most of the cut content was by the end of the game, so nobody will tell you this soon.
or codexers are just too lawful good. which is a lie of course.

me? I downloaded the mod just in case, knowing how moddies may just go waa waa. but I won't install it just yet. I don't want to play the game just to encounter something broken or an important content that still isn't there.

as TG won't be able to stop the distribution of the beta - the wise choice will be to pronounce it a public one and actually start working on finishing it or something.
the people who will play it now and will encounter broken things will regret this later anyway.
and this is indeed better than stasis.

As for the team - did anyone force them to restore this content? Did anyone force people to follow the project? Did anyone force you to pay attention? No. Don't try blaming your own inadequacies on TG.
They took it upon themselves to finish the project since they practically kept any other team from having a go of it. If they didn't take the project in the first place someone else would have, maybe, and finished it faster.
If some asshole published, say, Planescape: Purgatorio's beta, that would be totally wrong. That's an original work, it's Rogue Dao's decision when, or if, they release it. If they don't, it's fine, they didn't hurt the community in any way. All other modders made the mods they wanted to make. They didn't block off a niche, which Team Gizka did.

Personally I don't see what the fuzz is about. It's an unfinished build but so what? TG can just say so on the website that it was unintentionally released by a third party and use the feedback to improve their project.

But they're artist and people are disrespecting their art.

Nah, they probably just lost perspective on things. Something like tunnel vision can happen when you work for too long on a project. It's called development hell and usually isn't a good sign regarding quality.

I am happy to inform you that Peragus doesn't have anything restored. Yes, have fun killing droids and lockpicking stuff for an hour or so.

I got off Peragus and the first cut material worked great. The assassin Batu Rem talks about the Gemosomething organization. Later you can have a pretty lengthy conversation with Atton about it. I could ask why they were hunting me and who their leader was, so maybe this will get a few more kills or even a quest.

If you honestly think the team regards this as their "art", you are sadly mistaken. The problems here were never about the project itself. The problems were always about that someone disrespected their wishes and conspired to undercut them and gain access.

I've already given my story on the previous page. I'm not going to try and make an effort to convince since there really isn't point anymore.

And yes, Jason Little is guilty of a crime. It's not my place to say for what but it's really more of what he did then it is about the actual project. No copyright violations though. We'll see if any action will be taken and where that goes.

"dem stole my game mod officer1!"

It would be funny to see Lucasarts step up now and tell these people to shut the fuck up about their property. What will Darth Windu claim now? Piracy?

Get serious you lot. Man up and put it working for you instead of bithcing and moaning. Humans are supposed to be rather adaptable. This is a golden opportunity to get valuable user feedback and drum up interest for the mod.

This is a pretty major accusation. Either come clean and tell us what crime I purportedly committed or stuff it already. In the TBP comments, Darth Windu claims I have committed some sort of identity theft. That is a truly serious accusation. Since Darth Windu comes off like a prepubescent 13 year old kid who just had his first wet dream about Princess Leia, I thought we should review what identity theft actually is:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/consumers/about-identity-theft.html

Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personally identifying information, like your name, Social Security number, or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.
So this is a pretty serious accusation. And it's the only actual accusation I've heard thus far beyond simply downloading a beta of the mod. It should be obvious to anybody with half a brain that if a beta tester is responsible for providing the information that allowed somebody to download the beta (which is what has been claimed by the torrent author and has not been refuted), that nobody's credit card number, social security number or name was used to do it. Of course let's also be clear: Downloading files which somebody willfully gave you access to isn't a crime either.

On top of all this, what TG seems to be reluctant to engage is the fact that no matter how much spin and finger pointing they engage in, at least one of their own people betrayed them. Unless of course they are accusing me, the supposed leaker, of cracking their systems as well. Yet another serious allegation, but in the end all they are trying to is draw attention away from their own problems. Frankly given that there aren't very many people on the team or with beta access - it would seem pretty likely to me that at least one of the four members that have already posted here in response to the leak know a lot more than they are letting on. If I was a betting man, I would bet on Darth Windu. His righteous indignation is either a sign that his voice his high and squeaky as puberty has not graced him with it's presence, or it's because he is trying to cover for himself by over compensating.

Now on the flipside, you have OstermanA who probably knows more than any of the three others since he is a moderator over at TG. He himself has said there is nothing they will do with my information, and I suspect that is the actual truth. Regardless of who did what, there is simply no crime here. Frankly if I were Wildstorm, Darth Windu or another member of the team - I would be digging deep to find out who the inside man is. That is of course, unless one of them already knows and is just in no hurry to begin making that particular journey. I mean they all know there was one. They aren't denying it. But they aren't coming clean about it either.

If TG was smart, they'd make jaylittle head of the project, ban Darth Windu, and watch this poor sinking ship suddenly steam forward.

Could somebody post a link to the leaked beta here?

Ideally i'd like to care and wait for Team Gizka to release their final polished edition, but i gave up on caring around about the last time that the bug counter hit zero and they decided to go for another round of fixing up the typos. I don't give a shit anymore and just want to see what they've got done.

People generally don't respond well to that tone. Anyway, it's a non copyright file of a mod that was supposed to be released for free. I don't think that it qualifies as piracy. So, sorry if it upsets you but it stays.
