A for ContrArian.

This Kantor sounds desperate. Desperate enough to maybe take on the aid of an enemy's enemy temporarily, with the intent of betraying da boyz later on...

While being generally un-Orky and very cunning has worked surprisingly well for Nappy so far, I think that now is the time for more direct action so that the boys don't get too restless.

Besides, the Crimsom Fists hate Orks with a passion and might not be that desperate yet.

He didn't.

That is none of your concern. The order comes from the Primarch itself.

Dragon-Guilliman apparently escaped the battlefield and is now commanding the fleet.

This may be connected with Doombreed's apparent withdrawal. While Doombreed's original mission--evacuating the Scars--seems more or less complete, I don't think the Prince of the Blood would have given his forces orders to avoid engaging the Orks in the prior battle, if he intended to just leave. Nor would it have made sense to negotiate with Bonnahpartah, if he was just planning to pull out. Something's caused the Khagan to alter his plans.

Also, the guy Kantor was arguing with was Gustav Starr, Supreme Commander of the Ordo Malleus. If he's in orbit above Rynn's, the situation's worse than we thought. It'd be reasonable to assume that he's got a sizable contingent of the Even Greyer Knights (i.e., the Necromarines) with him. Maybe that's why Doombreed withdrew? Or maybe he's plotting some further unpleasantness; I have no idea.

In any case, I don't see any harm in negotiating with Kantor. Worst case seems to be that we'd proceed to B as our fallback option. If Kantor was your standard Space Marine Chapter Master, he might respond by deciding it's better to die for the Emperor than to live for himself and sabotage the controls, but he just went renegade. I don't think he'll consign himself, his chapter, and his homeworld to oblivion just to spite us. So, A, not that it's gonna happen.

It could be just that he orks as a distraction, to keep the Crimsom Fists occupied and focused on the orks as he pulls back his troops and legs it. Using the orks had no drawbacks (as long as they accepted the deal): If they lose, their assault will provide the Crimsom Fists on the ground and the Imperial Navy fleet in orbit with a distraction, allowing him to airlift his troops out of the battle zone with minimal losses. If they win, on top of the distraction, they'll either manage to take down the Imperial Navy fleet in orbit and prevent the Exterminatus, thus helping Chaos by defeating the New Imperium's fleet, or they fail to stop the Exterminatus and they get themselves killed along with a whole Space Marines chapter, thus helping Chaos by depriving the Resistance of a whole Astartes chapter.

Starr sounds like a real psycho, so I don't question his determination proceed with the Exterminatus. And if it's true that Dragon-Guilliman managed to exfiltrate himself to the fleet and he's running the show directly, then the cyclonic torpedoes could start flying as soon as the conversation between Kantor and Starr ends... maybe even before that. For all we know, they might already be on their way.

If we don't try to negotiate with Kantor, and do it fast, chances are that we might not have enough time to forcibly take over the controls of the Planetary Defense Grid. So, A

While we all waiting for the continuation of this awesome LP, I present to you another take on the Imperium of Man in 41k.

It is highly heretical, absolutely silly and surprisingly decently written.

Gentlemen and trannies of the Codex, allow me to present The Emprahsque.

Fourth faction played, fourth faction butchered to the last man. Some might call that failure; I call it building a brand. (Suggested name for our brand: "Failure.")

Root, a long time ago, you mentioned a glorious plot twist in the works for da Orks. Can you say anything about what it would have been?

I'm guessing part of the twist is that going against what's generally is Orky was the recipe for success... Madhatta probably had some interesting twists as well, being an "unusual" Wyrdboy and all.

I liked the Hax segment best of all, that was a glorious fuck up, this not so much.

I dunno, the fact that doing the clearly stupid thing somehow failed to end well doesn't seem like much of a mind-bender. I do suspect you're right about Madhatta, though, and that Gork isn't done with him yet.

Something seemed familiar to me but I could not put my finger on it. I assumed the structure or something else was copied from somewhere good because it was actually good. :o Whats the quote?

I loved the Ork updates. :bro: for writing them root, it must have been real hard work.

We did fuck it up as always, so it's business as usual. Seems codexers can't into Waaaaaaaaaaagh! Or politics.

Root, I really enjoyed Bonnapartah. He was still orky and yet not as mindless as they are usually portrayed. I interpret Madhatta vanishing as a tiny door into possible future appearances.

I would like some more fluff updates now, before going into next chapter - to boldly fuck up everything where no one has fucked up before.

Also, I am happy we did the Ork thing, nevermind how it ended.

"Yo marines, can we chill with you under your planetary defence grid for a bit? Promise we wont start hacking you up once we're inside" would of been pretty stupid. This was a good way to die. Weak humies couldn't beat us in a fair fight so had to use virus bombs.

well, tzeentch was born when mankind first fostered hope. that's a long time ago. the others came after. but those will be mostly vignettes, action should mostly take place between 18th-20th century.
and for those of an esoteric bent, our main protagonist will be none other than the Count of Saint-Germain.

Good shit, sounds very :obviously:. Looking forward to the next installment.
