I don't trust the deceiver one bit, but I do admire his sense of style.

Also, daemon prince? Nah. That's not Hax at all.

Tzeentch is awesome IMO. And his greater deamons may look however he pleases, he is the god of change after all.

I would love for root, or someone of similar storytelling skill, running a game with chaos as protagonist. Perfect setting would be just before or during HH.

For this LP however, I want to stay as far away from chaos as possible and recommend doing that to all.

I've read Horus Rising. Unfortunately my 40k lore checks would all fail. :)

Yeah, yeah, but honestly can't get enough into 40k lore. I'm already elbow-deep as it is and am not sure I want to wade in further.

The thought is tempting though. EXTREME GRIMDARK BECKONS and everything. Plus I'd load the choices up with more party-wipe eventualities than not.

I'm reading Dark Heresy source books now and it looks great. Would love to play it IRL but there's not enough geeks in here. So Codex seems my only hope.

Also, I think that WH40k might be played in a lots of styles, not only extreme grimdark. A campaign on some feral world with some steam tech or gue'la (or however you spell it) community inside a tau sept, tales of a traveling harlequin troupe could all lead to very different experiences and view of the world. Sure it won't be pretty pink ponies prancing around but no need to get too dark either.

:salute: root.

That was one amazing piece I truly enjoyed.

And know this: Fateweaver is very pleased with Hax's actions so far, however harmful to his cause they may appear at first (if at all) and the immininent flip-flop is no set-back to His designs, just a part of His nature. It was more than anticipated course of events...

A! is the only true answer.

i don't think lightbane was implying that it was a biowareian choice. i think he meant that if this was a bioware game, Hax would have to fight someone to prove his innocence regardless of the arguments during the trial.

still, if you want to hax to fight a human-reaper hybrid, i can arrange that

You got it, I was trying to say that should a triple AAA game about wh40k be done, the writing wouldn't be as good as yours, that trial would have been dumbed down into a short cutscene where the result would be the same regardless of the dialogue options you choose (said options would be: A: "I'm innocent, bitch!" ; B: "No, you are the xenos Inquisitor Lord while I'm innocent!" ; C: "*press a button, something awesome happens*"). And no, I don't need any shoehorned combat scene, I like how this is going already

The dark heresy source books are teh awesome. I'm reading them as well now... Very atmospheric indeed. And I have the same problem with people here as you fo :(

I think we had a chance to play little less EXTREME grimdark if we had selected Eldars as our cannon-fodder. I like it as it is, though preferred it when Hax had not succumbed to the device.

Ok, is it just me or is the quality of all Warhammer novels really supbar. I have to admit I read some of them in Polish, and after that I have no intention of shipping original versions. Are there any good books set in Warhammer vanilla and 40k universes (apart for PnP manuals)?

Btw, if we are at translations why not take a peek at Kodex Kommunikation Konverter and read different style grimdarlk Musicians by A. Sapkowski

Sorry root for tainting this fine lp with Tzeentch's mark shameless advertising but for the sake of the sector Codex stability it had to be done.

From what I've heard, that seems to be the case. I picked up the Eisenhorn trilogy at an airport before a long flight a few years ago. It was ok(ish). Not painful to read, mildly entertaining. But not something that left a lasting impression.

Pretty much all shared world fiction is like that. For WH40K though, I'll make an exception for the Ravenor trilogy. Same author as Eisenhorn, but much, much better. Really--I've read both, and Eisenhorn is mostly mediocre (I only read it because Eisenhorn's an insufferable fuck and I wanted to see him succumb to heresy and get fucked royally, which he did, ahaha). Everything else I've tried so far is very ehhhhh.

Supposedly the Gaunt's Ghosts stuff is decent, though.

Just don't post spoilers, I mean to read at least HH and Eisenhorn.

If you like comics though Inquisitor Ascendant, Titan and Damnation Crusade are pretty good.

It seems like there might be some possibility of us continuing to play Hax in Act 3? Daemon Prince Hax or Mini-Hivemind Hax? Wacky.

Narrative stuff: Why do people like Caidin so much? I'm not disagreeing, I just feel like I missed something. His character here seems understated, other than some amusing eye-rolling whenever the Masques come up.

The Deceiver, hm, I wouldn't say he's sympathetic, per se--he's the only real source of information we have about him, and he's unreliable. We're left guessing about his motives, his goals, or even his fears, other than the rise of God-Emperor Magnus and becoming a snack for his C'tan bro. That's not very relatable, but then, should he be? He's a completely untrustworthy, ancient, alien terror of the cosmos; that's inherently unrelatable. Characters don't have to be relatable to be interesting or likable, though, and he's been both of those things.

Also, superfluous vote for A, flip Fateweaver the bird. I mean, think about what happened the last time we turned down an offer to join Silas Marr.

Put Blood and Thunder (For lots of good Orkyness) on there if you like comics as well. Also why not, I'll change my vote over to DECEIVER since it's looking pretty far in the lead anyway.

I don't know about 40K, but the Fantasy novels by Jack Vance (only read Beasts in Velvet) but some other Codexer agreed the rest were great too are pretty damn good. More logical and interesting take on the Empire then usual (seems a bit more technologically advanced, Karl Franz is no longer super-awesome at everything, the biggest danger to the Empire is no longer orcs and Chaos-worshipping barbarians with rusty axes but the seething revolutionary masses and internal cultists).

Well boys, looks like this'll be our last waltz with Marius Hax.
Lets give these fuckers all we've got, and if we're lucky we won't die like dogs this time.
If we're going down, we're going down with our fucking boots on.
:salute:
