I think that for the goals of voting that you're outlining, approval voting (where we'd each say "here are the factions that are acceptable to us" and each of those factions would be credited one vote) would have probably been the best fit. Strategic voting (a.k.a. metagaming) is still possible, but then, it generally is.

That being said, holding a third vote so that we can use the most theoretically optimal system would be silly. Under preferential voting (i.e., the ballots people have been submitting), maybe the best tallying algorithm would be instant runoff? But that's a pain in the ass to compute by hand, so whatever. We've got five good choices; overthinking this probably isn't worth it unless you're interested in social choice as an abstract problem.

This goes a long way to explain why non-tyranid voters flip-flopped when tyranids looked like they were about to win, but tyranid voters remained as they were. I think it's partially due to the dynamic Ulminati noted regarding the polarized preferences regarding the two first choice forerunners (Iblis and Resistance). That means that as candidates are eliminated in a single transferable vote/instant runoff election, disproportionately more votes for the other three factions will emerge. (Since most voters put Orks somewhere between the forerunners.) The other part is how, of the three less favored first choice factions, most people who first-picked Resitance/Iblis preferred Orks to Chaos or Eldar.

Anyway, green is, if not best, then at least p. good. Will there be a sidequest where we procure a nice hat?

Well, if we don't tell the White Scars, they might attack us too, and fighting the White Scars is silly, with Doombreed coming.

On the other hand, telling the white scars we are going to attack the Ultramarines might prepare the White Scars to shoot us in the face after the battle with the Ultramarines, since I doubt the White Scars/Doombreed would trust us not to fight them too (and they shouldn't anyway).

The safest option seems to be the siege. If Doombreed defeats the marines and decides to take over the planet, we would be better positioned inside the (futurely acquired) shields, however, that's also kinda boring, and quite un-orky, since there plenty of 'em humies to stomp outside, and who ever heard of orks hiding behind shields?

So, to me, the most orky would be B, however a compromise has to be reached, we have come this far because of our cunning, not despite of it. So I vote to suggest cooperation with the spiky boyz.
