And you should read the private message he sent me earlier, threatening me with truly nefandous cruelties should I continue posting in this very thread. Such details of what he'd do to me. Such graphic details...
/e: 'citation needed' Nekomimi? The only threat of his I dare repeat is this: "You belgian piece of shit, if you continue posting here I'll slit your dick in two and pour mayonnaise in it like in a hotdog, then serve it with fries! You'd like that?"

Finally got around to playing this, pretty fun so far and found the setting really easy to get into without it dumping entire novels worth of exposition on you.
Couple of quick questions:
-Wtf does the REACTION stat do? Kinda assumed at first it made you act more frequently but that clearly wasn't the case. Then I assumed it was related to counter attacks thus making it only good for melee characters but then I noticed a bunch of gear for ranged specialists gave REACT bonus so dunno. Most of the stats make intuitive sense except that one.
-Does the passage of time mean anything other then waiting for club upgrades to be done? Am I on a clock and will be locked out of all the good endings because I'm taking my sweet time doing 3 of the major faction questlines as far as I can before starting Act 2?
-Is it normal I have so many class points to spend? Am only lvl11 but the only reason I haven't maxed out 2 if not 3 of the 4 skill trees for each character is due to the level requirements so everyone has like a dozen spare skill points and I'm wondering if there isn't something I'm missing especially as can't seem to level any skill more then once.
-Should I care about esteem? Seems only way to earn that is with faction missions on the overworld map but those feel very optional.

Reaction is critical hits chance%, counter atks chance%, to hit chance%. Ranged also gives hit% but not as much
Passage of time is only for upgrade construction, salary, and bed rest option (which limits you, but you can just pay to rest in overworld locations)
You can only do faction questlines up to a point as the final missions need Act 3 to start
Yes, I was way, way over generous with class points. Design philosophy of combat and balance for this game is mostly just me messing around with various ideas. Not building for challenge, which will be the sequel game.
Esteem is mostly a bonus resource. It gives you more options with overworld stuff, faction stuff, and reveals an interesting overworld location once you have enough of it
Well that explains why my characters seem to be missing a lot more now, figured it was just due to enemies having higher evade stats and me being unlucky with rng.
Cheers for the answers, seems I can very much take my time then. Best to save my impressions when I finish the game but they are very positive so far, only the excessive skill points stands out for me as a negative since it kills character building and progression, I don't see how other then stats my characters will ever get more powerful as they peaked too early and got every useful skill they will ever need. By comparison the stat ups are more fun.
Finished it, and this is why one needs to hold off commenting until they finished the game, I had assumed due to being in act 1 I was 1/4th or 1/3rd through the game at best, turns out I was actually pretty much done with the main story.
Expected to finish lvl 30/40 but in the end was lvl17, and it was mostly because I wasn't sure how much esteem I needed (think i found the secret location but had no clue what to do there as door was perma locked) or how prepared I needed to be so I spent hours grinding out assault contracts and getting 3 of the factions to +50 rep and was hilariously over prepared for the actual final fights of each quest line, my main 5 armed to the teeth with top tier weaponry and every skill in their tree unlocked.
The final fights didn't even last a full round and my gals were barely scratched, oh you are the *censored* leader with 400hp? Yeah take an assassins bullet with 480 damage to the face whilst the rest of my team 1 shots your minions, bam.
Oh cute, a squad of the *censored* elite troops? Lol wiped them before they could even move. Ok fun warmup, where's the real boss? Oh that was it? LOL.
I guess this is a consequence of the game not hand holding you, I did the mandate questline in almost its entirety as the first thing in this game which in retrospect was the hardest and thus I always expected a spike in difficulty that never came. The game's high tier gear really isn't needed (unless i've missed some super secret hidden bosses?) except if you've been doing just 1 or 0 (i'm assuming that is possible) of the game's main quest lines and are so behind in levels that you need super gear to compensate.
Overall you can definitely feel this is a 1 man operation due to there being a lot of rough corners and game balance is all over the place but the game's setting and story is charming enough to win you over and keep you interested. And without spoilers I can say I was wondering how the finale was going to tie up the various loose ends and was pleasantly surprised. It was kinda an "oh -shi OF COURSE now it makes sense" moment that made everything click because there were hints and a build up if you had been paying attention to the little details. Am more murky about the *censored* one you
accidentally release, wasn't 100% if she ties in to the reveals at the end game with control
but I guess that will be for a future game.
Definitely curious to see where a sequel would go. In the end despite the name being "Battle Brothel", the whole sex and smut is very much window dressing and a misdirection for the game's actual themes. And my pc only slept with 1 gal and IC wise think it was the best decision.
stormguard leader ftw, she is an actual homie who doesn't backstab you unlike some, looking at you prog faction leader for whom i grinded so many contracts yet ended up working with the trad leader to try to kill me only then to act like she was my best friend again once i was on the overworld map, make up your mind you schizo bitch! Otherwise stormguard leader also brings a combination of political clout and pure military muscle whilst having a clear incentive to not only defend your guild but to also make you more powerful, easily the best ally to make by far.
Final conclusion: had fun with the game and that's what really matters. Would recommend.
Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, Memoirs was very much a learning game for me, and the main focus of the game was mostly characters and narrative. I didn't spend enough time on combat (despite the large array of options, perhaps too many options) so balance suffered. But it was intended to be on the easier side.
Unlike my next game, which will probably be some flavor of masochism-level hard.
Oh level 20 is the intended end-game level. Pleasantly surprised how many players ended up around there.
I was under the impression the events of Wish (Vixone breaking the shackles) happens before the events of Tactics (Vixone on the loose). It seems I got it wrong?
