I think Frayed Knights was also better than MMX, if only because the setting was more interesting. And LoX, if you count that as a blobber. StarCrawlers is also pretty fun, but it's still Early Access.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
It's a great game. At least a 7/10. I'm amazed they managed to implement most of the elements that make an RPG fun and the m&m series so great despite Ubi's stinginess with the budget.
The most basic things an RPG needs. Wow!

I specifically said elements that make an RPG FUN. Misinterpret me again and I'll turn you inside out then work you like a cock glove.

Lords of Xulima has a similar style to MMX and is much better than I expected. Elminage Gothic is good for people who liked the early Wizardries - it doesn't have NPC's or much of a story. There were other TB blobbers recently like 7 Mages or Paper Sorcerer, but I haven't tried those yet.

The fact that LoX has 3rd person exploration just makes it feel completely different from all the first person exploration ones.

LoX feels more like I'm playing an RPGMaker game or Dragon Quest.

MMX is a good game, although I haven't gone back to replay it yet. I still think it's hilarious that my quote for the Codex was in the official launch trailer. :smug: :mrpresident:

Meh roxorz is mainly butthurt because he couldn't get through the tutorial area or some such. Too hard he said IIRC.

Is fine. Not everyone is gifted enough to eat an oyster and taste more than saltwater and brine. :obviously:

Are we talking about M&M X or LoX now? I think it's the latter which he rage-quit early on.

Well, both LoX and MMX are games I should love in theory and both turned out pretty disappointing despite me giving them a few honest chances. Fucking crpgs mang, how do they work.

Its fun and mediocre and you can do a lot better, but you can also do a lot worse.

That about sums it up.

A solid lightweight middle-grounder. Fun in smaller doses without too much analyzing, and shortcomings lighting brightly in longer runs.

He rage-quit Xulima too?

Man Codexers are getting cranky and impatient as they're getting older.

Both LoX and MMX have two things in common that made me "ragequit" them. Both are terribly designed and about as fascinating as watching paint dry.

But you can go ahead and enjoy your oldskuul gaemung exXxperience (tm), I won't be stopping you.

I liked MMX, however I think the most fundamental flaw with the game compared with the other, better games in the series is that it's too slow. Blobbers need to be fast paced - even when turn-based (or perhaps especially when turn-based). Combat was too slow compared with Xeen, for example - even if it had more elements.

I didn't mind the over-reliance on ambush encounters and I quite liked the puzzle dungeons, however I didn't like the gated areas (big placeholder overlevelled monster stacks preventing you from straying too far).

Overall a pretty enjoyable game that I finished within a week, which is something I am not able to do with many games anymore, I lose interest pretty quickly. People saying it's terrible are definitely being edgelords. It's just not amazing - but then again, what is?
