is he here to tell us that his broken home computer, the reason he stopped playing cRPGs outside of work, was just unplugged this entire time?

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
He said one of his favorite armor systems was the DT/DR system in Fallout 1 and 2, then goes on to say why Fallout 3 had a bad system with using only DR, how NV tried to improve that by using DT (which was not very good when facing material guns or nukes), then how he tried to fix that in JSawyer.

Then he admits the failure of DR system in PoE (which is actually DT, but somehow he called it DR which confused people even more), and the main problem was that some damage values were simply too high, like the Adra Dragon.

In order to fix this problem, he was inspired by Darklands which had a more consistent armor system, and he used it in PoE2 with varying degrees of success, since many players hated it, but he thinks it's much better.

If PoE3 ever comes out, it will probably have something like this:

Pretty good conclusions, I'd say.
Would be nice to have another cRPG with DT/DR values as in classic Fallouts (and Underrail, kinda - but the balancing was a bit different there).

I wonder whatever happened to Tim Cain, the childish, gay type.

I fear he's in that retirement mode. Just getting a paycheck til his 401 clears without any penalties, no real passion for the thing anymore.

I mean, I get it. His great attempt was Troika, and financially they failed. Meanwhile Fergus is still around and kicking, and succeeded, if you can call it that.

Still, I think he should take away the following:

Big difference between this :cainapproves: and fucking this :slamdunk:.

Even if his company failed, the dude's team still managed to deliver three gems in what, a four-year timeframe?

And that's two more than Obshitian did in 15 or so years with Mr. Slam Dunk above and this guy,

his right fucking hand :littlemissfun:

KOTOR2 Switch port from Aspyr:

https://www.starwars.com/news/swca-...c-ii-the-sith-lords-coming-to-nintendo-switch

The Sith are looking to crush the Old Republic and finally eliminate the Jedi — on Nintendo Switch.

Announced today at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, the classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is coming to Nintendo’s popular console. Arriving June 8 from developer Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games, the standalone sequel to the beloved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic finds the Sith ascending, and only the galaxy’s few remaining Jedi can stop them.

“We’re really grateful that we get to work on such amazing and beloved titles for fans of the original game and new ones exploring these experiences for the first time,” says Michael Blair, senior director of Business Development at Aspyr. “With the resolution updates, performance optimizations, and The Sith Lords Restored Content DLC coming post-launch, we hope gamers will see this becoming one of the ideal platforms to dive into the galaxy showcased in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.”

In KOTOR II, you’ll choose your own destiny, with each decision impacting the story. The game features three different classes of Jedi — each with access to specific Force powers and customization options — from which to select, while you command a party of diverse crew mates. But will you choose the light side and save the galaxy, or follow the dark side and destroy it?

Aspyr comes to KOTOR II fresh off its successful rereleases of KOTOR, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, and most recently, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Nintendo Switch. The studio is developing the highly-anticipated KOTOR remake.

Selling TSLRCM as DLC?

Grab the Codex by the pussy Strap Yourselves In Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
All rerelease companies are parasites.

Edit: wait, the modders probably had to consent to them doing this. Which probably means they want a piece of the pie too. I wonder how they decided who contributed enough to get paid.

Edit 2: or maybe they just didn't clarify and it's actually free DLC.

The claim that a DLC is just a chunk of a game sold separately is legitimate.
I think the DLC is going to be free, it would be a scummy move to make you pay for content that should be in the base game.

It should be DLC so that people have the option to not install it. You really don't want the half-finished robot planet in your game.

So, you did bear the rest of the content? I thought you could not stand this game.

I played it start to finish a couple years ago. The Codex talks about it like it's a good game, so I wanted to give it a fair shake. It really is terrible.

might be avowed related (Lis Moberly (Rachel Elise Moberly) is currently an associate narrative designer at avowed).

Taking smug self satisfaction to untold heights. I am sure all the "early modernist scholars" of the world are really chomping at the bit to answer some asinine questions.

All rerelease companies are parasites.
It wasn't a rerelease, it was a port to Mac & Linux that they spent time on polishing.
I doubt this is much different from that version beyond control changes for mobile reasons.

Also, strangely enough, it left KOTOR 2 in a much more playable state than KOTOR. KOTOR 2 even has integrated steam workshop support.

& unlike Beamdog, they didn't remove the original developers

No idea how the remake will shape up as the company seems to have changed a lot, but Aspyr used to be a decent porting company.
