Man RL work has been killing me lately. I haven't been able to take command of my starship and fire mah lazers hardly any for the past few days.

:x

So I've been kicking warp nacelles in the showroom and I've been eyeing the Vesta. Worth the zen? Vaarna, I know you initially loved it but ended up back in your Oddy, right? The other ship I've been considering is the fleet recon, which looks like a nasty little beast. I can effectively get that one for free since I can simply buy the fleet modules off the exchange.

Actually my Engineer alt is flying the Vesta. It's easily the best science ship in the game.

I assume the right way to go is to simply buy the 3-pack as opposed to a specific model? And I would be flying this ship with a sci alt, not an eng if that matters any.

Yea, the console set on the Vesta is damn good. And yes, it's perfectly doable with a Sci (I switched to Oddy purely because I missed it). Also, the Vesta works best with an LtCmdr Eng and beam broadside with one torp.

If you're rigging your Vesta like that, you've turned it into a somewhat more breakable Nebula. This strikes me as a little purpose-defeating for a 5000Z ship. A Lt Tac, Ltc Eng, Lt Eng, Cdr Sci Beamboat Sci ship exists already...it's called the Nebula. Doesn't Subject already one of those?

The Nebula is slower and lacks a Hangar. This is the key part. Due to its consoles, the Vesta is also considerably tankier than the Nebula ever could be.

Norfleet makes a good point though. I do have a Nebula and I do have that ship built as a tanky broadsiding beamboat (using disruptors and a wide-angle torp), so I think I may try something a bit different with the Vesta just for a change of pace. Right now I've got it loaded with 2x aux cannons + hyper plasma fore and 3 x phaser turrets aft. I also put another sci officer in the lt cmdr slot so the ship is loaded with powers to make the most use out of having aux maxed. A tac went into the uni ens slot so I can cycle tac team (still need to get a Hamlet). One of the rear turrets will get replaced with a cutting beam and elite Scorpions are going into the hanger as soon as I have the dill.

Also, the funniest thing to do with the Vesta is activate the kinetic reflector or Godmode Shield, then intentionally faceram a Borg heavy plaz. You will need to be extra close if you use the Super Shield.

Actually you don't want to have two Aux cannons, since they start draining power if you fire more than one of them.

In other words, exactly like regular weapons do. That's not a new mechanic. If you don't want your aux to be depressed...then just don't fire your guns while casting a spell. Most spells have lengthy CDs, during which your Aux isn't actually doing anything anyway.

Sad news guys, the gravytrain will end tomorrow. Cryptic's going to remove Officer Reports entirely, and Foundry will no longer provide Fleet Marks in any fashion.

As such, the plans will be changed now. Our top priority will be finishing the Federation Embassy, and getting KDF to Tier 3 and their Embassy to the finish line as well. For the time being, it's recommended you start working on getting yourself a steady source of CXP.

With the FM gravy train ending, I'm definitely tightening the rationing on FM. KDF side, the Embassy is my first priority now, followed by the Military and Science projects on the starbase side. Upgrading the base itself to T3 is pretty much indefinitely on hold: A T3 base itself grants nothing of intrinsic value or use on its own, and we can no longer afford it: It is better to focus on the projects that will actually grant something useful.

I am out of this, not into sweetshop mechanics and I am really sick and tired of "development by retards" that apparently utter forgot what happened with Season 7 when they pulled, oh THIS EXACT SAME STUNT!

Cryptic is not a learning animal and I am feed up with their rampart incompetence, unless I see some changes (meaning people getting the boot) I am now utter apathetic to this. I dont even care about Omege shit or anything ... when I run out I run out, end of the story.

Ughhhhh what a shitty change. And the embassy was flying along so nicely too... I even had hope that we'd reach Tier 4 on the starbase in the not-too-distant future. My doff cadre needs an overhaul now so I can start pulling in CXP more quickly.

If they're going to yank this from us, they need to up the mark rewards for actual fleet events, since that's evidently what they want us to play. It would be nice to see FMs added to the STF loot bags too.

Well it's important to remember tht we only had the gravy train for a few weeks and there was no doubt it wasn't going to last.

T3 does provide us with the tailor tho, so we'll have to get it eventually. And I say we get all the categories to T3, since that means efforts can be focused further and eventually get the SB to T4 faster.

But yes, on Fed side, NO ONE will use FM for anything except the Embassy projects from now on. Not enough to go around.

I would also like to suggest setting up all your alts with the capability to start grinding Military Offensives, if you run 3 or more of those per day you have a good chance of getting 60 Marks per day as well. The requirements are three green or better Assault Officers per assignment along with Blue or Purple doffs of any other kind with at least on Crit trait, all of which can be purchased from the cat or Exchange; and Provisions + Medical Supplies.

Hmm I'll look into this for my mark farmer immediately since he's now out of a job.

Well, given that our bottleneck is now FM, of which we have close to zero income, perhaps. I am going to take accounts and see how many FMs we have and how to budget them after things come up.

But yes, on Fed side, NO ONE will use FM for anything except the Embassy projects from now on. Not enough to go around.
Honestly, on Fedside, we're probably in better shape FM-wise than Kli-side. First, Kli-side suffers from the rampant neglect of everyone else, meaning the two of us are the only ones doing anything.

Naturally, as the ones who have to actually PAY for anything, I'm going to insist on calling the shots there.

60 marks a day isn't going to do squat, alas. For just the embassy alone, we're wolfing down a couple thousand. That's about 2 orders of magnitude short. We'd need a hundred toons doing that to cover us.

No, this is going to call for something far more drastic. Stay tuned. And get your Sci ships ready.

I'll start improving my alt brigade for the purpose of farming some more Marks per day than just Valkar's inflow.

So did everyone quit? I was hoping to get some Broforce STF action in today but so far the only fleetmate I see online besides myself is our resident zombie. Even Norfleet's slaves are nowhere to be found.

I dont think we all quit, I am simply watching the fallout right now and waiting until PW come in and kicks then in the balls, considering there was +60 page tread about this that was closed so Stahl could try to "appease" us but it just lead to another long tread of people being angry at them since everyone at this point is well aware of Stahl little dance numbers and are not falling for it.
