They're found cheaper in the Embassy. And the "shit lying around" is generally the crap from pillaging. THe catch with a "construction materials" tab is that if I were to start relabelling the tabs KDF-side (I think I can do this), Every Single Tab would be construction materials. Plus, every single tab is partially occupied by something. Therefore, construction overflow always happens into some other tab.

I suppose I could rearrange all the tabs to be less frivolous in nature, unlike the way they presently are.

Also, I can't think of any rep item that takes exactly 4 stacks of the stuff, anyway. That's what mystified me.

But in any case, the following commodities are junk:
Water Purifiers
Industrial Energy Cells
Industrial Replicators
Medical Supplies
Antigens

All these items are produced in ludicrous quantities from pillage byproduct.
Things that AREN'T junk:
Shield Generators
Entertainment Provisions

Actually it's all that the last tier of rep will need in Entertainment Provisions. Anyway, I still think having a specific tab for construction materials is a good idea. Don't we still have the transfer tab nobody ever uses?

Also, some of that junk will eventually go to vendortrash, since antigens are used by almost nothing (I can't think of anything except the KDF bioweapon chains and a handful of poorly paying medical assignments).

There is only one server. Which is down right now, so I forget the exact name. Holler once we get back up, I suppose. Now's a good time to join, we can get you up to snuff in about half an hour.

Been looking over an STO wiki. I'm thinking of making an Andoiran Engineer to Tank with. Perhaps with the Elusive, Warp Theorist, and Accurate traits.

I also see that there is a buffer/debuffer role in STO, but how does a typical group composition look? Is the debuffer primarily a healer who tosses out a debuff or two? I like classes that perform bard-y tasks to help the group but I usually end up tanking in other MMOs. Healing is too... reactionary for my tastes.

Is there a specific role that is the most fun or the most in-demand in the game right now?

In the present state of the game, I would advise against Engineers, personally. They're initially easy to play, but then you discover their potential is a bit limited, in that they don't really have any cool, game-changing moves that the other two classes have.

I also see that there is a buffer/debuffer role in STO, but how does a typical group composition look?
A TYPICAL group composition? You...really don't wanna know. And you definitely don't want to emulate. The typical group composition consists of between 3 and 5 failtards, depending on whether you're one of them. A *GOOD* group composition probably would consist of about 2-3 Tac Guys and 2-3 Sci Guys, with POSSIBLY a token Engineer thrown in...maybe. One can easily afford to dispense with the engineer in favor of one of the other two, and possibly be better off for it.

In PvE, there is the occasional need for a Sci guy to act as crowd control, who typically acts by clumping, immobilizing, or otherwise manhandling the opposing hordes. In PvP, the same Sci Guy is responsible for dispensing the dreaded Subnookie.

Is there a specific role that is the most fun or the most in-demand in the game right now?
For your starting Federation player, I suggest you either aim towards TacEscort or Sci/Sci. I do not comprehend "fun", but I hear a lot of people really enjoy their TacEscort's PEW PEW PEW.

He can't consider a KDF until after he does his first Fedling, yes. But after that, one must definitely make a Klingon, because the Klingon side is MORE AWESOME and has ALL THE BOOTY.

Also, server's up. Holler me in-game, @jkname, if you want in.

ugh they still have that retarded you must play a fed before being a Klingon crap?

Well I guess it makes sense, so you get the basics, and then understand Feds are all retards. :)

If the extent of the damage is JUST a feature series, I will consider it a relief.

forum full of butthurt for overhyping and "broken promises" for huge update.

That's just normal operating procedure for the STO forum. Bunch of whiner crybabies over there. Cryptic was having server problems last night and had to take STO offline for a couple of hours, and there was so much sobbing in the forum you'd have thought they were burning down everyone's houses.

OK, as we are ... "nearing" T4 I think its time to address this.

Now this is just the Fed base.

Right now all projects are equal, Science is the one closer to T4, followed closely by Engineering and last by Military ... considering timers for Tier upgrade that we must run my suggestion is right now we fully concentrate on Science, followed by Military and then Engineering, my reasoning is this.

T4 Starbase comes with Very Rare Duty Officers, closest to that is Science that also gives the best or 2nd best of the T4 tiers and since the moment it hit the 100k we cannot get more XP on that until we Tier upgrade and so its the better option to get us to T4, now the reason I say then Military is because Engineering doesnt really offer anything at T4, the only it does offer is the Elite Engines that arent that good compared with Shipyard T4 (that itself is not that good) and it would allow Engineering to catch up during the Shipyard T4 upgrade.

After that is the long road to T4, Science seems the best option right now, at least as Fed, KDF Elite Disruptors have a different mod so we might want to go that route there if nobody needs Hangars that are also a definite option on KDF side due to carrier options available.

T4 Starbase upgrade is required as it gives access to purple DOFFs, before season 7 this was not critical due to the grinder but after its rather critical for new characters due to grinder costs.

Two days to go until announcement.

It's not up on the English site yet, but it looks like Romulans are coming as a third faction.

Sooo....I see that one of the changes is that the level restriction for the KDF is being lifted. New players will be able to start at level 1 in any faction, Starfleet, KDF or Rommy. That's great news for J1M if he's still considering his options.

Guess I'll be going after that D'Deridex soon.
