Alright, teaser stuff is up, slated for May 21st.

http://sto.perfectworld.com/legacyofromulus

Seems Romulans ARE a full faction (= FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU Starbase FUCK), and we get another Rep grinder (hopefully they implement account-wide rep Marks like they spoke about once), more Denise Crosby, and reworking of the Trait system (which I receive gladly). Also a trailer:

If we're going to make Romulan fleet, we probably should look for more people or join up with other fleet since with how many active players we have, we can't do third starbase.

Well, to be honest it's not really THAT bad for the first two tiers. Heck, with our present set-up we can easily hit T3 even without lowered costs.

And on top of that, we should definitely be finished with the Fed and KDF embassies by the time the Romulan faction rolls in, correct? Having those completed will free up manpower and resources.

I already have plans to form a Romulan fleet with some people I have been conspiring with: Highly active players with a mindset not dissimilar from mine. You are welcome to join up with me. I could always use more minions. Otherwise, given your activity levels, the odds of you guys sustaining a THIRD fleet without us...well, close to zero. We could always use more help in gathering Vespene Gas. That shit's gonna be pain in the ass.

Well, the general idea should remain the same, with a pretty open approach to everything to avoid drama and politics.

We should be at Fed/KDF T4 by then if the current pace holds out.

I will wait until there is more about Fleets to try to venture a guess, the current system implemented as it is for the Romulan Faction would utter destroy plenty of Fleets (thats my current guess), I suspect if implemented it might be delayed because the Faction doesnt exactly need one at launch.

Well, if we can find additional bros to supplement Norfleet's shadow army (the current arrangement should work just as well for the Rommie Fleet), it won't be that bad for us. And if we don't, it really just means that Norfleet gets to have more say about the plans for SB future.

Alright, a small change to things to prepare for the next season that will probably only affect our bank tabs and similar boring management stuff: Norfleet now has Leader status just as I do, since he's got a knack for the organizational side of things. We'll still continue the same relaxed but butthurt style as before though, no politics or the like will occur here or in Rommie fleet when it's set up.

I sorta have to question adding a third playable faction for Romulans when the Klingons still seem kinda half baked compared to Starfleet. But eh, what the hell.

Actually, no! No what the hell! They should've used the time, money, and effort to expand Starfleet and Klingons instead of adding playable Romulans! Maybe add some shipboard content, talking to people on the viewscreen of your bridge, some slight personalities you can staple to bridge officers, something!
Since I don't really play anymore it's a moot point I guess, but still.

Sooo....I see that one of the changes is that the level restriction for the KDF is being lifted. New players will be able to start at level 1 in any faction, Starfleet, KDF or Rommy. That's great news for J1M if he's still considering his options.

Guess I'll be going after that D'Deridex soon.
Haha, fuck that. Klingons are retarded orcs. They should retcon StarTrek lore to say that they stole warp technology from another race's first contact mission. :smug:

Romulans on the other hand are like a less morally constrained federation. Which is awesome.

That isn't really a retcon at all. The actual canonical history is that the Klingons were originally slaves of the Hur'q, and yes, that's who they stole their warp technology from.

That's what I am remembering as well. But they got the Cloaking Technology from the Romulans though, even peacefully IIRC. :decline:

Though that was because both hate the Federation.

I would greatly approve of these things, particularly more bridge shenanigans in missions. For boffs, it's really enough that the appropriately titled asshole is at his post and tells shit X is rapidly failing because Y did bullshitz to it.

Although from TNG on, the Klingons are only presented as honor-manic brutes that leave us wondering how such simple-minded people could form a threatening space empire, in TOS they were quite capable of cunning and were generally intelligent adversaries that offered a plausible match to the federation. IIRC, they invented the photon torpedoes and the disruptors that a good share of the Alpha quadrant uses.

Luckily for us, the Romulans started out awesome and, unlike the Klingons, were more or less preserved that way. I for one welcome our new vulcanoid overlords! I held out on rolling a KDF char because I thought I'd advance my Fed guy a bit more, but I might just switch to the Star Empire as soon as it's available. Warbirds... hmm

Speaking of Romulans, I learn of Romulans being added as a playable faction in STO today, and then later this evening what should happen on my latest episode of DS9? The Romulans join the fight against the Dominion.

And yeah I for some fucking reason missed DS9 when it came out. What a fucking idiot I was. This shit is awesome. Anyways, this belongs in a OMG!!! DS9 is AWESOME thread in the Library. I'll shut up now.

EDIT: If someone did a Star Trek LORE thread, I'd never leave my house again. OH GAWD IT IS HEVAN! (I love reading discussing that shit).
