I'm hopelessly addicted to this game. It's so fun running from enemies and dropping arcane traps so they blow up as they chase me. I have to say this is one of the better experiences I've had in quite awhile, even more fun than Enderal (which is also great, but still). I'm enamored with this little gem.

I now have 1600 silver, too. Been picking up stuff worth crazy money in the desert. Now I just have to complete this Stone Titan Cave and I'll be progressing nicely.

I find 2h weapons too slow to use, so I stick to my ethereal sword or a palladium sword I just picked up. But I don't like to stand toe to toe with menacing foes and just get them to run over my traps for maximum damage. You have to fight a giant in Stone Titan Cave and I'm hoping I can take him out the same way, though he's tough. Fun game man, fun game.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Letting them running over traps are half the fun for me.

For now, i set around 3 traps, then shoot them with arrows, let them come , got them to the traps, if the traps dont finish them, then i smash their skulls with mace.

Gonna unlock magick soon, how much initial mana I should have?

I went with +6 mana, or 120 points. I'm also going to unlock the skill that gives a bonus 40 points to mana. My stamina sucks but I'm thinking of going back and getting even more mana to go full caster mode. Arcane traps are just too deadly and combined with the skill that makes runic magic much more powerful, it's a great build for me. Just don't get hit. :D

You only get to choose how much Mana you have at the leyline once. No going back and augmenting it further.

EDIT: Sorry, I was mistaken. You just can't get your stamina and HP back once you trade them for Mana.

Are you sure about that? I initially chose 4 mana but then I added 2 more while I was there. If so that is a disappointment, I want more mana! :)

Now I have 160 mana, 8 runic combinations and my runic magic does more damage and has extra effects. Really sweet. I chose the Sage path for now with one of my breakthrough points.

So if I have it correct, you eventually end up with a 3 class build? By spending breakthrough points with trainers?

Yeah I think you can add more, because one of the Watchers there told me I can come back through any path if I choose. I might go back and add more mana actually, it's a thought. I'll go straight Runic Sage on their asses, that'll show em. :)

The desert is a gold mine.

If you explore Stone Titan Cave, you kill lots of desert bandit leaders and get palladium swords and shields, which sell for a few hundred a piece. Get yourself theh big 100 capacity bag and go to town - I made about 3000 silver there.

Oh, and enhanced runes are cool. You can turn the ethereal sword into an ethereal claymore of death if you cast the runic combination twice. :)

And I confirmed that you can't get mana twice. I went back to the mountain and tried, no bueno. So choose your power level wisely when you first get there!

I think someone asked if there's faction armor? There is, I just got mine, as well as an upgraded rank in the faction.

I found so far heavy, slow weapons are lies.

The fang claymore or 1 handed mace so far is still the best weapons. The thing is, they are just too slow to land a proper combo and properly stagger the enemies. They just attack back mid combos.
This. I wonder how 2H weapons became so meme in all the walkthroughs I've seen. Combat is all about dishing max impact until enemy gets to half stamina, then stunlocking them until dead.

2h Axes are different since their strong attack is actually 2 attacks each (both 1h and 2h) so that could be your 'bridge' if you want to use 2handers. I am having a fine time with 2h swords tho.

Maybe you can add more, but not take any away. IE, you can't gain back HP and stamina once you trade it for Mana.

I had added just 1 point of mana channeling (20 mana) when I was there, thinking that I would add more later when I had more spells. After reading this, I started up Outward and ran back to Conflux Mountain, through the path I had taken, to the Conflux, where it allowed me to add more mana. :M Perhaps the option to add more mana here is closed after a certain point? It isn't just a matter of leaving Conflux Mountain.

Interesting. Maybe 6 is the max you can take then? Or going through another path perhaps. I actually got there because I fell off a cliff and a watcher rescued me. :P Maybe it's dependant on going through the path or something.

I've been back twice and can add mana, though I didn't (and am only at +2).

Though remember there are skills that you can get that also increase mana without needing to sacrifice health/stamina.

edit: also, I apparently have a pet pearlbird.

wut.

Yep, the Runic Sage trainer has a +40 mana breakthrough skill. Picked that up already but want even more, mwahaha. :)

The Kaizite assassin guy in the first town also has a (breakthrough costing) skill that gives a bit of each stat.

20 mana is sufficent: because you can have -100% mana cost reduction.

1.1 speed weapons are the good one: because dots/elemental are the real killers.
Like in elex, weapons are terribles until you find an elemental/dot one.

2handed weapons rock in Elex. You just need to have high stats to use the good ones (Tier II+).
Elemental bonus is just that, a (rather small) bonus.

Yeah it's early copy bonus, along with the fireworks emote.

Bleeding. 200s TTK with Regular bleeding @0,5%/s, 100s with Extreme Bleeding @1%/s obviously :negative:

So the mystery of mana has been solved. You can't go below 50 Health or Stamina when getting Mana. I was at Conflux Mountain with 50 stamina trying to get more mana, that's why it wouldn't let me. Now that I got the +40 Monk class stamina boost, I can go back and get more mana. Sweet.

Huh, weird, I didn't get an early copy. Not that I mind either way.
