What? Are you just stupid or don't know what are you talking about?

I guess I was just too busy running away like a little girl to look at shiny buttons. And found good spots to hide. And then did the same thing in later plays. When you find one thing that works, you use that.
I do remember I tried fighting it at first but could not do it.

Nah, just about everyone in Bloodlines is a scumbag. When it comes to developer-side misogyny, I'm thinking of the money code "joke" and those collectible sex posters (do we get to collect posters of LaCroix, Nines, Ash, and Mercurio in provocative poses? No).
Really Roguey, you didn't play this game:
Mercurio was a nobody that no one would waste time making a poster about him.
LaCroix was the prince but he was some little bureaucrat not some male model, the Nosferatu hated him and only worked with him out of necessity, maybe Gary would have some poster humiliating him but I don' think this is what you have in mind.
Ash was the only one maybe a poster would make sense as he is defined as "a pretty boy" but the posters are a part of the characterization of Gary, the nosferatu primogen, besides, Ash had a suspiciously homosexual relationship with Isaac his sire, Gary could just not know him.
Nines just a "normal" guy, white trash turned on a vampire, why someone would make a poster about him?
Gary hated beauty, he was characterized as a handsome actor that was turned on a vampire and was very bitter and sarcastic about it. He turned an woman model, Imalia, on a Nosferatu just because she was pretty. He enjoyed destroying her beauty and thought this was a lesson for her, actually, this is pretty common among nosferatu. They feel nostalgia about beauty but hate it and want to destroy it at same time. They love humiliating pretty people. The posters were a joke from Gary and said more about his complicated relationship with beauty.

Most of the credit goes to whomever drawn the original gif with Cloaked Faggot.
Edit: author of the original one was muds_animal_friend . I salute you, bro! :greatjob:

Actually ... that's a good call. Not gonna argue about the poster thing, that really can't be justified as anything other than the developer rewarding the player with pix of chix. I will go on record saying that, instead of removing such a system, I would prefer for a hypothetical Bloodlines successor to add tasteless beefcake posters as well.

Girls don't do that, and they don't watch porn, because everything happens in their head.
:hahyou:

In all seriousness - not only women actually do watch porn, and ogle male bodies (just look at the success of True Blood), there's also porn tailored to women (google James Deen porn, or porn for women). If we're talking about teen girls - well, yeah, they are more likely to shlick to drawn porn, and also yaoi&slash fanfics. But when they get older and more experienced, most overgrow this phase.

Why? Just to even it out so that effeminate cunts like Roguey shut up? The fact is that women aren't as visually susceptible to stimulation as men, and that's fine. They masturbate to slashfics, we masturbate to images.
Men also masturbate to text. The more desensitized the better it works when things are left to imagination.

Yeah, just wanted to post exactly that. Who in their right mind will want to shlick or fap to that entitled vamplet LaCroix? :? Or some ghoul. Ash is a fucking drama queen Toreador, so yeah, his poster could work for some gays, I guess. Nines is a bro though.
If we must have poster of male characters, make it a Smiling Jack poster! :bounce: Oh, and Andrei, for more adventurous gays and ladies.

I hate the usage of the word "misogyny". Hatred of women? If they hated women, the best characters from Bloodlines wouldn't exist! One of the best Malkavians exists in this game. The person who you think has the most power in the game is actually a woman, Ming. You have a tough bitch that doesn't take shit. You also have one of the sexiest Toreadors. And even a mysterious one! Fuck this. It's the fucking opposite. They loved women. They created sex posters, because they not only admired their character and mind, but also their bodies. It's like saying to a painter that loves to paint mountains, that he can't paint it bare (without grass, snow and trees), because it degrades it's value. Fuck no and get the fuck out.

Nothing wrong with evening out cosmetic quest rewards for multiple tastes. I'm against rewriting the characters or anything like that, but if a quest reward is going to be a sexy poster, why not let the player choose a package instead of a rack? Justification about asshole characters aside, the posters did cross the line into meta territory, being a reward for the player instead of the character. Dickish to only reward a certain type of player.

You say this as if they made a conscious decision. "We won't add this, because we are dicks?" The huge majority that played cRPGs at that time were males. That's it. Even if it's WoD, that has a lot of female playe... LARPers. It's called resource management.

Players, mate, players. There were, of course LARPers too. Mind's Eye Theatre was fun in itself, but its audience was awful in every conceivable way, even more than your average oWoD goth-wannabe. At least in tabletop RPG we got various players, mall goths weren't a majority. But both MET and oWoD TRPG always got tons of chicks playing. Here in early 00s in Russia women and gays liked Changeling: the Dreaming even more than VtM though (I still hate the former with a burning like a thousand suns bile, CtD had just the worst fanbase).

You guys can ride the misoginy debate train till the end of time, but the fact is, the moment a sequel starts catering to modern social sensibilities, its not Bloodlines anymore.

Its like with these people who want to ban To Kill a Mockingbird because it has racist content. Well no shit Sherlock. Its a period piece, of course it fucking has racist content, because racism was rampart at the time.

You want LGBT, SJW_friendly vampire game? Great, fucking make your own. Bloodlines needs slutty women pushing their vaginas in your face the moment you enter a room, it needs powerful man who are in charge, and it needs cater to male audience. Otherwise its not Bloodlines anymore, its something else.

There's absolutely nothing wrong about catering to one audience and there's nothing unfair about it. I don't go around complaining that lipstick ads are unfair because they aren't male friendly.

Not everything needs to be made in one size fits all.

I always hear that the LARPers were awful. Even Spoony mentions it:

Almost nobody ITT expressed a desire to see a new Bloodlines made by either Obsidian or Mitsodas though. Also slutty women and powerful men? Heh, I think you've mixed up VtM with Gor novels.

As for me, I'd vote to give it to CDPR. They can handle mature themes (with varying degree of success, but still). If you want sexy content - they had it covered (and polished, and plowed).

They can design open world games, they can write good characters (for example, Iorveth and Vernon Broche weren't in the books, but they both were very well written and seamlessly integrated into Sapkowski's world). Vampire: the Masquerade was always a gothic-punk setting. While I'm not sure if they can pull a gothic vibe, nobody likes pre-apocalypse and punk atmosphere more than people from Slavic ex-Bloc countries, they can certainly pull it off. CDPR definitely has talented artists and 3D modellers. Also we then could have Tzimisces talking in polish, what can be creepier. Bloodlines 2 taking place in ex-Eastern Bloc would be a cool thing too.

Well ... Bloodlines was only 10 years ago, but actually I agree with you. The game was made from a point of view* and it's silly to slam the game because of it.

*Which I still don't think was especially misogynist. Again, the male characters were painted to be just as stupid as the females. BUT the poster thing does say, "this is for male hetero players". A hypothetical sequel wouldn't need to do that.

That's true, but if so it should be done with intention, and as Havoc noted I don't think it was actually a conscious decision for Bloodlines to alienate some of their audience. I don't expect any hetero girls to be excited about playing Sexy Beach Premium Resort, because it's not made for them, and that's fine. But I strongly disagree that WOD stuff in general or Bloodlines in particular "needs" to be biased towards a male audience. It can still have sluts and meatheads without assuming the player is a hetero male. (And, you know, the original Bloodlines isn't actually about powerful men in charge - I think that's your bias showing, dude.) Why shouldn't women laugh at the sluts and meatheads of a Bloodlines 2 and get hunky posters of Ash and Nines?

I don't specifically want a lot sexy content. What I do want is a game made with a mindset that sexy content is not automatically a bad thing that needs to be avoided. There's a time and a place and settings were its even necessary.

Its like we've gone full circle nowadays. 15 years ago virtually everything was made to appeal to young heterosexual males. And that was bad, I don't think anyone would dispute that. But, fast forward into 2015, and we're basically being socially programmed to not-want a content for such audience. People have been bullshitted that its wrong or even shameful to want content that's made for them. What the fuck kind of world is that?

I don't think it *needs* to be biased. I think it needs not being afraid of bias. The moment writers start second-guessing themselves and adjusting things to fit modern social sensibilities, then whatever was unique about the setting is gone, and we end up with Twilight The Game instead of Coppola's Dracula The Game.

My only problem with potential CDPotato Bloodlines is how they will popmole the mechanics.
