The Dark Souls of ARPGs! :fap:

Honestly, POE1 already felt like DS at times with its grimdark atmosphere and insane, forlorn characters, now it will also play like it too.

I probably won't make it far in the atlas if they stick with the 1 try per boss philosophy.

Fextralife is not traditional games media. If you're gonna give Fextralife early access, build guides and walkthroughs should have been NDA'd 72 hours past launch. "You can review the game or you can make day one at release, your choice".
Might as well give PoEDB and Maxroll access while they're at it. This is retarded.

Fextralife is doubling down

got my key from a good friend. Already can see 300 in-game. Do I need to access the key or will I be able to play from steam? ( I have no idea what my user and pass are) :)

key on their site, you get a separate key for steam that unlocks the game to be installed on steam (from their wording, the steam key doesn't give you access, just lets you download client in steam)

I thought about from now on not looking at POE2 stuff until release, just calm down tbh. Nothing super important has been even announced since official video update anyway.

Also CC on boss looks really strong.

It should be since it should not be possible to delete bosses in few seconds now

Gone are the times when you outrun delirium boss at league start in early red map with subpar gear to allow magic find. I'll fondly remember when I didn't and got paid 7div.

"Don't you have some arena fighting to do exile?!?!?"

Yeah, you can have WASD movement, but you can also choose mouse movement. You can see that in the very beginning of the video. Now there will be a "best" movement style instead of designing the game around one of them (WASD would've been more interesting).
WASD is what they've designed the game around after adding momentum to all the combat skills. Mouse click is still an option but everyone who has played it says it's suboptimal.
It will alienate the olden guard too because some people have sunk quite a lot of cash into PoE1 which won't be reflected in 2
Isn't that the point of shared MTX between the two? Very few MTX won't transfer (skill MTX because the functionality of the skill has changed dramatically)
Not every slow paced game is a soulslike or needs to be one.
The game director compares Path of Exile 2's combat and boss design to Elden Ring every chance he gets.

I was looking forward to a new PoE after enjoying beating the first one, but this post makes me feel bad in my tummy when I read it.

"True Melee™" isn't a build, it's a mental illness. If after multiple hours with PoE and after seeing all the Skill & Support Gems on offer, you reject all of it and stick with auto-attacking each and every monster individually, you have a brain tumor. Something lodged in your cranium, preventing you from connecting the dots.

Dude. That is harsh. Fuck you, too.

I don't want to be a spell caster whose spells trigger on melee attacks.

I want to just make my numbers go higher and click on monsters. The only spells I want are summons, so I can have some friends. Maybe a passive aura or two I don't have to actively manage. I don't want to manage a bar of special abilities, or mana, or any other resource besides health.

I just want to click monsters, get loot, and make my numbers go up.

POE was okay, but them making everyone a spellcaster was dumb.

But is "true" melee even enjoyable in Diablo-style action RPGs? If I want some melee action I would instead play a souls-like or something like Monster Hunter. In these game melee is at the center, whereas ranged combat or magic is less interesting. A top-down ARPG where melee is really interesting is Exanima. All these have in common a much slower pace than Diablo-likes. I think a Diablo-like would have to deviate a lot from the genre to have good melee, but then it would maybe not appeal to clickfest enjoyers anymore.

I play souls-likes sometimes and enjoy them, but I don't want my loot games to be souls-likes. I don't want to be actively dodging all the time.

I just want to click on monsters, get loot, and make my numbers go up. Maybe with some summoned friends. Probably while exploring new areas and story. The fun is in optimizing my equipment and character build to get better at that, not managing a bar of special abilities and 3 or 4 different combat resources.

if anyone is curious about his video there's a backup
the whole drama - lamao what a way to start (and end) the weekend...
is that drama about the number of pixels?

Drama because someone favorite nigger streamer didn't receive early early access to play game but instead some random dude did.

Yes this is exactly as retarded as you think.
everyone involved is a nigger, the game shouldnt be gatekept by retarded niggerstreamers. we can decide for ourselves if we like what we play

I don't see what's retarded about being mad that Fextra was given the game early. Quality aside, he's not even remotely within scope of traditional games media so giving him early access at all is baffling. Like I said, might as well just give it to Maxroll and PoEDB while you're at it. He's going to publish boss guides for the entire campaign and builds the second the game goes live and datamine the fuck out of it. Why give him of all people the data files on a silver platter? IGN and GameSpot don't datamine the games they review. He does. The game was going to get enough positive reviews without handing it to a dataminer/wiki author.

There's a big difference between that kind information becoming available over time post-launch and something people will be reading/watching while they're in login queue. Whatever NDA stipulations they gave him, it can be assumed by anyone that hasn't been lobotomized that he's going to disregard them in order to be first at everything and spoil everything no holds barred. He has a profit incentive to do so. A portion of the walkthroughs were even published after GGG issued their statement and now you'll have people rushing through the campaign knowing exactly what to do and build for while everyone else has a slower leaguestart and has a in-game economic disadvantage.

What if that's the point? I've been saying for ages that GGG's financial model seems to depend heavily on making players envious of eachother. Having a bunch of streamers and traders wearing all the best gear and exploding everything by looking at makes the plebes feel inferior so they're more likely to play longer and invest in cosmetics so they can look cool without the chase uniques. Having everyone on equal footing trading with other plebes that have no cosmetics is not in their best interest.

When you put it like that... it sounds even more retarded.

That sounds like someone has some issues and needs to check up with their psychiatrist.

It's single player game. You or anyone don't need to read it.
Only one who care about it are either retarded streamers who want to get that #1 kill or their even more retarded viewers.
Moreover it is an early access, not full release. Which makes it triple retarded.

It's like competition for the retard of the year award.

"A million players is what we are prepared for in instance capacity"

Jonathan said on stream with Ziz.

Yeah. They are nuts if they think this is enough. Their leagues could reach 500k total at start. Full POE2 EE will be like 2-3mil at the same time across all platforms easily if not more.

It will be a million on steam alone if not more.

Since it is 30E/$ to get it I doubt it. Also they can see sales on Steam and sales of packs on their site and probably sales on Xbox/PS5 and calculate how many players are coming to join.

I think you underestimate the amount of people that will play the game.

- In general ARPGs have huge audience to start with.
- Second this is a sequel to arguably best ARPG ever
- There are ton of POE people that played few leagues and stopped playing but they will play POE2.
- Some of POE leagues are now reaching 500k concurent across all platforms and that's with "old" game and mostly no new people.
- This is effectively AAA game now.
- Ton of new people are willing to play it.
- Almost every big streamer i see will be playing it on launch of EE
- Moreover i see ton of casual people out of nowhere talking about it.
- 30$ is a low price.

Just a reminder. When Diablo 3 launched at $65 it crossed 3.5 milion sales in first 24 hours, 6.5mil in first week and over 10mil in first month. And that was in 2012 back when gaming space had a lot less people in it.

My estimate of 2-3 milion actually is conservative across all platforms. My true estimate is closer to 4mil and absolute max around 6.

My Steam CC prediction will be around 900k-1.1mil as long as their servers won't burn to the ground (they will), otherwise ton of people will just quit EE and leave it for week or two or won't go back it until 1.0
