PoE2 has a different team tho, it doesn't impact PoE1 development.
If you think they didn't put all hands on deck after the early access launch date reveal, you're high on copium.

When asked how big the poe1 team is exactly, they always counter with "well the people work interchangeably on poe1 one day and PoE2 another day". They never confirm a hard number. It could mean that there is a bunch of people working 100% on PoE2 and then there are some guys who work on PoE2 80% and poe1 20%.

This is how it's going to go:

PoE2 launches early access. The hype is huge inside GGG and from all the newcomers. It drowns out the hardcore poe1 frogs. GGG goes into overdrive working on PoE2, making big updates every week. Newcomers get hyped even more seeing such strong support for a live service game. This continues on for 6+ weeks.

At some point one guy at GGG will go "wasn't there supposed to be a league for poe1 in late january?" and everybody will sigh and begrudgingly start working on 3.26 part time, while being mega excited to work on the new thing everybody likes. 3.26, a league for an old product many at GGG don't like that much anymore. A product who's fans have being nothing but niggers to GGG on social media over the years, driving them away from communicating with the community. A product in decline and without any actual future plans, because those plans are now all about PoE2.

We'll be getting 3 small leagues per year, if we're lucky. Probably 2. An actual end-game expansion like Maven/Exarch&Eater maybe every 5 years.

That is best case scenario for PoE2 though. Another one is after the initial hype the complaints are triple the amount and everybody starts questioning the PoE2 design decisions, most prominent streamers go back to PoE1 and start to mock the way 2 is and hordes of people mimic them. So now both games have similar number of players and every time GGG release something that people don't like for any of the two it will be "The future of PoE" level of panic.
We will see, I'm looking forward to trying PoE2 to see how it feels to play at later levels, if the pace of the game is actually any different when you are using meta build with good gear.

I for one am looking for arpg that is as fun to play before endgame as Diablo 2 or Grim Dawn was. There is a good reason why I am playing PD2 now instead of PoE1 shit.
I tried D4 new league and it is just pointless and boring with same maps and same enemies with no feeling of progress except leveling up here and there. Same problem with Last Epoch

This is way too detailed to be an accurate prediction, but no plan to phase poe1 out together with the obvious unfeasibility of GGG continuing to work on both post poe2 release is definitely concerning

That's a nonstatment as both games don't have "end game" and play close to the same way at low levels as at high levels. Once you hit around level 30-40 in both games your gameplay never changes.
It changes plenty as higher levels give you way more challenge and you need to play differently to survive. Especially Hell, it feels like Diablo 1 early game once you hit early Hell with bad gear.
And in Grim Dawn the game certainly changes a lot with acts and there way more to do than just kill everything that moves.

When PoE2 comes out and nobody actually likes it GGG is going to have one hell of a meeting.

They've have yet to show the end game which is the most important part of the game(i'm guessing there is none), if they expect people to enjoy rolling around bosses a la dark souls for 10s of hours over and over again they'll have a very nice surprise.

It's made entirely for consolefags so they'll slurp it up no doubt. PoE1 players will have a field day shitting all over it once the initial honeymoon phase is over.

But isn't rolling around bosses for 10s of hours exactly what people that love PoE endgame do? They even tell the rest of us that do not feel like grinding for 30h to get to that part to get lost and not say anything.. PoE2 will just allow you do start doing that from the start, without a need for pointless grind through badly unbalanced endgame..

Those are some weird standards, who are you even talking about? Anyone who does bosses is killing them in whatever minimum amount of time phases allow for or aiming for that goal. And I doubt ubers are even a goal for most people the end game starts at around t14 and you can grind for whatever you want there.

Pointless grind is the game, it's in the name, you call it pointless because you don't like the game, simple, poe2 will be the same except now with extra rolling, every video has it, even against white mobs, not a problem in a single player game where you can take your time and go trough characters and do whatever you fancy at your own pace but I don't see it working in their current model of 4 seasons per year.

No, there are plenty of Ubers and boss battles that take longer. Sure there are also people that arrive there with 50 mil dps characters but those are not all or majority.

As for rolling around white monsters, I am sure that will not be happening as soon as people hit mid levels and get some gear, that will only be experience for Act 1 and maybe Act 2.
Also I do not see a problem, it was like that in Diablo 1 where you didn't have rolling ability but you moved back to doorways and such to limit the number of enemies that could get to you at same time. It was much more exciting gameplay where you needed to take care not to die easily than what PoE1 has where you clear whole screen or even outside of the screen with one press of a button as a way to prevent you from dying easily.

We obviously don't know what the progression will be like but every single piece of video has the player dodging and backing, skills and their descriptions also seem to conform to this type of gameplay plus some frenetic flask pressing for good measure there's been 0 representation of any increase in power in any of those shots and that's concerning.

GGG is the new firaxis. With nu-xcom a success and streamers playing "long war" having a good time then dev knows better (how to drink da Kool-Aid) and nu-xcom2 became some glorified football manager. Aaaaand it's over:

You can always play Ruthless or do Ziz gauntlet, it typically goes like this, especially with bad mods like multiproj and extra phys damage as X. You can even spice it up by refusing to use logout macro to make the game truly riveting and exciting. Also, there is always Sactum, it is exactly like this if you don't have high DPS or don't play Sanctum optimized build like PB or various totems.

Does not work, loot and balance is still completely different. Monsters are still from base game.
I tried Sanctum, that shit was boring and not healing after you get hit.

Those fast cuts can't hide the fact that it's slow as molasses console popamole trash.
