so for my new 2.06 playthrough im gonna use

- turn base mod
- arcana mod
- call of the wild
- closer to tabletop

hard,6 man party probably with 1 merc for tanking (i just cant bother with valerie anymore and i dont want to respec her for rp reasons).

Even with -9 point buy? There are some encounters that are far easier if you don't bother tanking at all. For the rest there are 3 or 4 companions who can handle it, or your main of course if Val isn't doing it for you.

Yeah, Slayer is such balanced class.
I finished my last game before its release, and currently testing grounds for a new game with mercs in old saves.
While "regular" attacks with minimal buffs looks like this...
nWnGMFC.png
... str build runs up to 140+ dmg per strike with good rolls, and i don't even want to talk about crits.

They do what they do very well, but they’re one-dimensional (in combat, my Amiri Slayer is also my Perception expert). Best O, not much D, no team support (aside from Vanguard, who also gets Uncanny Dodge, BTW, so is probably best Slayer for Dual-Wielding).

Sniper is likely best build with Studied Target facilitating all the - AB abilities to add damage. Both ranged and Slayer want full attacks and ranged gets the most since they need to move less.
Talking about Slayer being overpowered when Wizard is a thing that exists, is a joke

Glad you mentioned that.

So I built the sniper. Slayer 14/Rogue 4. Greater Two-Weapon for nine attacks with Rapid Fire. But figured out that I sold the unique offhand somewhere so set off to the last few floors of the Depths with Mirror Bow to see if I could find a decent offhand ranged weapon (throwing axe). Stop laughing. Did they run out of gear before they made the bottom of the Depths? Don't think I've ever experienced anything like it. Anyway, this happened:

Sniper on Monarch.jpg

Then this:

SlayerAB.jpg

Notice the poor target selection. Captor Iced the rest of my team, after which the sniper proceeded to take down Captive, Captor, and Captive again without breaking a sweat.

Other than this:

Ring of Luck true to it's name:

RingofLuck.jpg

Broken enough.

So Xelliren keeps saying he's come back with new gear but never comes back with new gear. Is this a known bug? Something I've missed?

I want my tanks to able to dish out some dmg, even when buffed valerie doesnt do a lot.
Min maxing a merc for specific roles can work,a dwarf tower shield specialist doesnt need charisma nor much intelligence, and with the advanced martial arts mod he will be able to tank much better.

24 CHR can do it’s own sort of damage.

Him and honest guy are bugged

It’s this sort of thing that indicates that no one on the bug fixing team actually plays the game. Would it be so hard to enlist a fanboi team to enlist what needs fixing?

As for the Depths, haven’t played anything that mailed-in/shoestring feeling since Dead Marshes expansion on LotRO.

I tried to Ironman this game. First five attempts ended with stupid deaths. On my sixth attempt I finished the first chapter, and I want to share my impressions.

I imposed on myself the following limitations:

- playing Ironman. A death is a death, failed skill check is a failed skil check.
- difficulty: challenging, but with normal enemy stats. Death door is on.
- 4 party members. I used mercs.
- no animal companions
- only core classes, no multiclassing. I'm new to pathfinder. I want to keep things simple.

Overall, the difficulty feels perfect. It is hard, but it is fair and very enjoyable. Ironman brings tension to the game. You need to think differently than in normal mode, think about consequences, and change strategies to less rely on rng. You need to invest into non-combat skill, because a triggered trap is a triggered trap. Basically, Ironman gives Kingmaker a chance against you.

Also, it is much more enjoyable to control a party of 4 than a party of 6. A party of 6 feels like a crowd (especially with animal companions). A party of 4 feels like a squad. It forces you to keep your inventory clean an tidy, because you have less carrying capacity. It is harder to spread non-combat skills among all party members in a party of 4 than in a party of 6. You are limited in different types of classes, so you will not cover all the buffs.

In my opinion, Ironman and party-size of 4 make the game more interesting. Harder, but more interesting. I think I found a sweat difficulty spot for me.

However, not everything is so bright. Today, I sat in front of my PC. Launched kingmaker. Selected my save. Pressed load. And during loading, my PC crashed to bsod. After I reloaded the PC, my save file was corrupted. After all, pathfinder is a bugfinder)

After I finish mourning my fallen heroes, I will probably want to play more. But next time, I will need to back up save file after each session.

What am I supposed to do when hit by icy prison? One of the minibosses in the depths hit me with it and I was luckily within range of the exit and had a table rest ready since some of my team could never get free and it last minutes per level.

If you're "new to pathfinder", do not play iron man. It's very easy to fuck up a build.

I finished the game once. I want more pathfinder with a little more challenge. I don't really care If I die and fail to finish the game. I try to find an enjoyable difficulty setting, and I think I found one. However, I have to deal with possible crashes.

"I'm new to pathfiner" = "I don't understand all the classes".

You wish you were the one casting Icy Prison instead of them

Then you go make 5 Wizard mercs

If you’re that sniper I built last night you just kill both bosses by yourself while your teammates not so slowly die. Looks like Ekun was chipping in too.

Better idea is to kill the wizard before he gets the spell off or counter it with sonic spells that have a stun attached.

Too bad only noobs use those.

Playing with the companions is a good way to learn all the classes.

Someone was asking about Cleave range. Enlarge helps:

Good Cleave.jpg

Pretty good Standard Action to go with her move action Freebooter's Bane. Freebooter also gave her Cleave and Cleaving Finish without Power Attack, Dreadful Carnage at ten without either Weapon Focus or Power Attack, and Lead Blades.

I do not think that it is game's fault you are getting BSOD's. We are way past the time when any game (software) alone could blue screen, with properly working hardware, OS and drivers.

I don't blame the game. It is just a bad luck. If you want to play ironman, you should be ready for this kind of things. It just a little frustrating that I lost the game not due to my stupidity or bad rng roll, but due to bsod.

I have always found Sorcerers to be far better than Wizards in cRPGs because you tend to use the same few spells over and over again. For the less used ones, there is always scrolls.

Witches on Pathfinder had access to unique at will "spell'(Hexes) and WLK on 3.5e can use at will invokations

Witches in 3.5 were based off Sorcerers. It is in the DMG.

Spontaneously casting a whole Spellbook with Mystic T turns out to be pretty sweet if not quite OP.
