steam is same shit how do u kill spiders, I barely lasted there for a few months.

We improved it. They’ve got a good thing going now. You’ve just got to smack down the faggots who want their bitching validated to make space for people with genuine questions/valuable input.

That's over 10 posts a day, every day, since he joined just shy of 4 months ago. He'll be back.

Nah, like Shad said at some point you take your life back. My boys are reading now. Time to put down the phone.

Considering all the praise I've been hearing about this game, one thing I did *not* expect to find in it is enemies dropping in from the air mid-combat, Dragon Age 2 style.
Which enemies did that? I only know of Spiders that do that in PnP all the time. Others use stealth to get close and while it might look like they teleported they are actually there if you got good Perception skill to notice them.
There are some "ambushes" where enemies come out of nowhere. Even some wolves are smart enough to "ambush" you sometimes. Out of mid air, yeah i think mostly spiders.

Holly fucking shit, that traitor SOB...

Tristian just killed one of my favorite companions! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
Well, it serves me right for keeping him alive despite all his failings.

Forgive me, Jaethal, for I have failed you.

Only ambushes I know are those where wolves come from near by caves or from outside the map or that Silent pack where they come behind you from the direction of the entrance into that cave. I don't know any where they drop from the above or spawn next to you out of thin air.

You let her sacrifice her own fooking daughter, man. Don’t play all innocent with us.

Super Trollhound add will ambush you if you try to leave Trobold early after going in with Jazon.

Does anyone have any experience with 9th level spells? Is Tsunami any good or should I just use mass icy prison?
Mass Icy prison is breddy good. Tsunami is like a AoE that does damage. I'd go with Mass Icy prison.
I was considering picking up both, also Tsunami is Conjuration which is my specialist school (Arcane bloodline, +2 to DC) and also it's a Fort save which is a weakness for late game enemies right?

Or should I just stick with MIP?

Also does anyone know if Spell Specialization works with Icy Prison?

Tsunami is a mass DMG + knockback IIRC, the range is huge and the beam pretty wide so it's solid as far as hitting the whole screen at once, but it's pretty vanilla/meh for lvl9.

MIP is great, though I think part of it don't work on Monarchs n shit.

Sadly I've found the majority of lategame spells underwhelming, ending up almost never casting 'em and sticking to my trusted 2-6lvl ones :(

Pure dmg spells there are meh aside from Wail but you need to be a profile necro to pump its damage with items and spell spec.

Overwhelming Presence in the hands of Fey Sorcerer is actually brutal, so is Weird in hands of evil gnome from Arcanum, Fiery Body is obvious as a precaution. Energy Drain would be cool but sadly when you get it enemies you want to try it on are immune to Death magic.

Yeah sure they are pretty brutal in the hand of dedicated/specialists, sadly a saint|kine|slayer are somewhat as brutal with much less positioning issues, friendly fire consideration or ressource management :/

I have only done 1 floor of one reality as of yet (gathered all the companions I could), but for the time being HateOT is great. I don't know why you guys were telling me it sucks, maybe it is going to go to hell on the rest of the floors? As for my companions' fate:
I lost Linzi and Jaethal, the rest were saved. Jaethal was a regular. Fuck you, Tristian. No, really.
I can see why Avellone allegedly applied more effort to this project than the other projects he has collaborated with. HateOT is very Avellonian/PSTormenty (as is Nyrissa, as a concept, and her dream). I guess he wanted to show some of the things he wanted to do in PoE, if they only let him. The whole game does feel like a mix of Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment, which is what PoE wanted but failed to be. In Kingmaker, the concept kinda works. I don't know if Avellone is going to collaborate with these guys again, but maybe he has found a worthy team.

I will speak more about this after I am done with my playthrough.

You let her sacrifice her own fooking daughter, man. Don’t play all innocent with us.

The only options I were given was to let her kill her daughter or take over her body. So I chose the former. I probably screwed up her quest at an earlier phase. Don't know if I have mentioned this before, but FUCK YOU, TRISTIAN!

If you push her away from zombie snatch throughout the quests, easier if Tristain is with you, you can convince her to let Urgathoa kill her instead of killing the daughter. If you do this she shows up alive later.

It's really opaque though. Only clue this is a good thing is the quest is completed instead of failed if you do this (like it does if you kill her). It does advance the themes of the game (forgiveness) so it might be noticeable on a second play once you've realized this is central to most companion quests.

Do you think Icy Prison and Mass Icy Prison are good enough that they might replace Chains of Light as the go-to 'Disable that fucking cunt' spell? I went Conjuration specialist because Grease, Glitterdust, Web, and Chains of Light are just absolute gold for CC, especially early on, but even later on with CoL. But if Icy Prison is better lategame, I might be tempted to get Evocation instead, both for my Spell Focus feats and for the Arcane +2 DC selection.

Of course, I can always Extend and/or Heighten CoL in order to use it in those 7th, 8th and 9th level slots, so Conjuration still feels pretty strong, even if Tsunami turns out to be meh.

Thoughts?

This is my current spell list, just FYI:

Spells (+1: New Arcana, *: Bonus spell from Arcane Bloodline, Bold: Important spell):
1st: Grease, Mage Armor, Shield, Expeditious Retreat, Enlarge Person, Magic Missile*
2nd: Glitterdust, Web, Cat's Grace, Mirror Image, Stone Call, Invisibility*
3rd: Haste, Displacement, Stinking Cloud, Communal Protection From Arrows, +1: Communal Resist Energy, Dispel Magic*
4th: Greater Invisibility, Enervation, Bestow Curse, Remove Curse, Dimension Door*
5th: Animal Growth, Icy Prison, Echolocation, Vampiric Shadow Shield, +1: Cloudkill, Break Enchantment*
6th: Chains of Light, Sirocco, Acid Fog, True Seeing*
7th: Legendary Proportions, Joyful Rapture, Greater Polymorph, Banishment*
8th: Seamantle, Dragonkind III, Sunburst, +1: Frightful Aspect
9th: Tsunami, Fiery Body, Mass Icy Prison

Edit: actually I think I might stick with Conjuration. I just found out that Rod of Power Source exists which gives an insane +4 to Conjuration spell DCs and isn't that difficult to get. And Conjuration is just more flexible over the course of the game.

deuxhero,

yes, I probably shouldn't have let her turn that other girl undead. When the daughter moment came, I was trying to convince Jaethal to let it go, but she turned me down as a hypocrite, because I had previously supported her in turning that other girl undead. So I was eventually given only the 2 options offered by her faith.

Iirc, the quest didn't fail, it succeeded normally. I think that the only companion quest that failed due to my choices was Valerie's one, which I then reloaded.

As for the themes, I have noticed the forgiveness and the "what does one story matter" (as shown in Linzi's, Shaynih'a's, and the Storyteller's cases) themes. I am sure I am missing lots of other themes that will become clearer in the following playthroughs. The game is very rich in more ways than one.

It takes some work to make them good, but the potential is there.

Alternatively you can just let your Bard be your principle offensive caster (30DC AoE disabling targeting weak save + high level Dispels) and wreck house with your other six toons.

Which Bard spell are you referring to there?
