It helps early game, and gives the game more variety. Vindictive Bastard is also more fun than straight Tower Shield specialist and Warpriest is also more interesting than straight cleric with melee combat stats/feats.

They look like they make the characters worse, not better. Val's early job is to tank and make Fort saves vs poison before you get Delay Poison communal (high CON and decent DEX help).

Harrim ends up having decent channeling with his companion quest helmet so CHR isn't really a dump stat for him. His main job early is to mess up tough foes with Touch of Chaos (huge effective hit to AB and saves) then land debuffs (especially Archon's) so the -1 WIS is awful, the extra STR is a waste and the DEX is one AC. He's Heavy so doesn't need even that by midgame.

More modding before understanding. Dude should have stuck to adding classes and the like.

looked at that Mystic Theurge concept for Tristian
take most basic noob friendly support char in game
make him worse
build complete.

Tristian's not noob friendly, lol. Doesn't even have Simple Proficiency. Most noobs get him killed over and over trying to run around and touch heal everyone. More negative theorycrafting. Ho hum. Let us know when you've tried it. Roahin goes into pretty deep detail about the build in debate with InEffect. Care to tell us where he's wrong? I'm not a nuker, so not a good judge.

a 101 guide on how to use Tristian:
get channeling feats
get hat that improves channeling
heal people with channeling

Get one shot on Unfair. Complain game is unbalanced.

Next.

Healing in combat in bad. Dead/disabled mobs deal (a lot) less damage.

you know that you don't have to keep him standing right next to you in melee, right?
channeling has a fairly long range

Obv.

Don't get hit, don't need to be healed. Not complicated.

Broke: touch healing

Woke: channeling

Bespoke: not getting hit

Healing is good, even on Unfair. Endgame your cleric should just fill all slots with Mass Heal since it tops you, your pets, and kills off ghosts in HATEOT.

As for weapons, even if Tristian had same script as Fall From Grace when you try to give her weapons, he still would be a great companion. The only weapon he needs is his Touch of Good on Ekun's butt to see enemies pop.

That's not healing, that's an emergency reset in case shit goes terribly wrong.

He's talking about wasting feats + helm slot on some shitty pbaoe heal.

The damage mitigation/absorption is wayyyyy better than healing as a rule in DnD/PF, and if you have some spontaneous caster it's very hard to get caught off-guard by AOE with the multiples communals.

Btw @ Mystic Theurge, imo it's far from a newbtrap.
I don't remember exactly the details as I erased my BTSL save by mistake while testing a mod, but iirc it was some Cle/Sor/MT/MK and it was fucking insane (on unfair).
Granted the DCs of offensives spells sucked (I dont care I never use them), but he was kungfu fighting left and right buffed to high heaven, shit's was cray

Are you going to run after all your pets and feed them pots in combat?

Also, all pots go into treasury anyway to mass build Mage Towers.

Healing is damage mitigation. PK is not TB, you can do things like move fighter to enemy while healing him with Theurge, i.e. RTS-like simultaneous things.

It is though.

If you have party under say 10/resist to lightning, get hit by will o wisps multiple times, who each do x damage, and then cleric heals all of that damage in a channel, you mitigated said damage. Then multiply said amount of damage by idk, 6-8 encounters and you mitigated a lot of damage on the party and saved yourself a hundred or two extra clicks on potions and did not lose any sanity points.

Call it QoL feature if you want, but having Cleric in party for most of the game makes for an easier game than not having one.

All right, I finished Chapter 7. I cheesed the final fight, as I was more interested in finishing than fighting by that point. Looks like it may be a good fight, although as usual I prefer such fights to not be on the main path.

The good of Chapter 7:
- Good job bringing the allies I have made throughout the playthrough to my aid. Good stuff!
- The curse reinforces the theme of the bond between a ruler and his lands. Good job.
- Reinforces the theme of "Rightful Owner" of lands. There were hints of this theme before, but here it comes to the forefront. As a Greek myself, having grown in and surrounded by lands that have changed hands countless of times, this theme hits close to home. Pun intended.
- Lantern King is great. I also liked his presentation just before the final fight. I know I have met him before, but I wish I had seen more of him throughout the game. I really like this character.

Not sure what to make of it:
- The Storyteller. He is part of the "What does one story matter" theme, but other than that I am not sure what to make of him. Looks like he embodies a metaphor for the creators of the story. He is also kind of a Deus Ex Machina in Chapter 7. Maybe he is supposed to be a combination of both.

The bad of Chapter 7:
- I liked the themes and the points made, I loved the Lantern King, but I think this Chapter at this point of the game is too long. It also involves hordes of similar enemies over and over. The execution leaves some things wanting, imo. The game didn't need further challenges at this point. The important question is: Is Chapter 7 inviting? Or is everyone going to be stopping in Ch 6 in their replays (well, the ones that made it that far)? I think that Ch 7 is mostly uninviting, after the 1st playthrough.

A simple SHORT linear dungeon would have worked better at this point. Here is how I would imagine it: A few (~5) fights in a row that are tough, but made extremely easy if you have the right ally with you (ally that you met previously). Each fight lifts part of the curse. Then meet the Lantern King for final showdown.

Such a design would have supported the themes of Chapter 7, and it would have been more inviting imo.

Definition: Mitigation means reducing risk of loss from the occurrence of any undesirable event.

Mitigation definition, the act of mitigating, or lessening the force or intensity of something unpleasant

Mitigation is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters.

Mitigation: the process or result of making something less severe

:shredder:

Instead he can now heal himself as a free action, others with a standard and still has AoE heal which like before he can only use outside of combat since he is quite a few charisma points short for selective channeling and outside of combat healing is nice to have but far from vital. I got no idea what your problem is here, he is much more flexible now since he is now a better tank since he can buff/rebuff instantly, gets more feats, more strength means he actually hits something from time to time and when switching to heavy flail can dish out respectable damage. More dex also means better touch AC in case you have forgotten by the way. 17 wis means he is still equal for half the game compared to before and still reaching 22 by the end of the game. I guess it is nice to hit 22 at 16 instead of 20. I find this hilarious that you rag on this considering that just a post before yous say that base stats do not matter much.
How is Valerie worse? The 19 con was hilariously oversized and not useful at all. -1 con saves and Delay Poison is sufficient early on if you play a little careful, DP,C is nice but hardly needed. Even with "only" 16 con she saves against poison 90% of the time instead of 95%. Bu hu. 18 strength means that she can now hit and deal damage actually alongside tanking. Her 15 strength score was plain awful for a fighter type.
Never mind that Octavia, Amiri and Linzi are straight up buffed, good to see you overlooked that completely. Even more hilarious how you rail on this while promoting bard of all classes for Valerie, one of the most retarded choices in terms of rpg you can make for her considering how much she loathes art and bard is all about art but hey who cares about such things if you can munchkin to the wazoo because Unfair/Derp difficulty is the only difficulty in existence even if the choices are completely and utterly immersion breaking.
Overall complete overreaction and I doubt you have really read what their new classes entail, just looked at raw stats.

For all the pushkinturgenev, you're quite judgemental, aren't you?

I wouldn't take Extra Channels, but helmet you can simply swap when needed.

Yeah, if you want to lose your extra casts.
can't you just put pre-buffs in last slots?
