I got Hambeard working on a new mod for Tristian
  • changes his domains to Fire primary and Glory secondary
  • initial feats changed to Spell Focus Evo, Greater Spell Focus Evo, and Elemental Focus (Fire)
  • stats changed to STR 10, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 10, WIS 19, CHA 14
  • skills changed to 3 Per 3 Lore(Religion)
Based off the code from Call of the Wild so it should be absolutely solid
nice to see you're dead set on taking all the fun out of the game :kingcomrade:

Here's something, with first glance, can you tell which potion is what?
bZI3CSz.png
sorting by type gets sorted by name also so first one is alchemist flask.
Nah, the Alchemist's Fire has the little flame thing and has a different cap. The first one is Heroism, the second one is Lesser Restoration. The other yellow ones are Mage Armor (more "rectangular") and Remove Blindness (with the "elixir" shape).
Mage armor is always easy to remember. it's rectangular and blue. I think it's the only one like that.
Don't fuck with the potions master. Mage Armor is the yellow cylinder, while the blue ones are:
- cylinder: Vanish;
- rectangle: Blur;
- small sphere: Invisibility;
- elixir: Displacement.

I can't remember if there is a blue "big sphere" (the same size as Heroism).

Teach me your ways oh potion master. I too wish to gleam such information from generic potion icons!
You need to admire your potions. Revere your potions.

You must respect and cherish them so much that you shall not find any situation worthy of drinking one.
You must endlessly accumulate your potions in your inventory without ever tasting a single drop of their divine liquor.
This is the only way to become a potion master.
This is the path of the potion.

But don't despair, young potion monk.
Before the hardships of my potion training, I too believed the blue one to be Mage Armor.

He has no idea what the fuck he's doing. He admitted that he ruled Tristian out the moment he saw him and has no experience playing him as is. The build Tristian comes with is slightly stronger in subtle ways than the build Yosh recommends, but it looks like a fun alternative since Archon's Aura is Evocation.

I got it right but it was a lucky guess. I'm a super slacker when it comes to consumables. There are so many different ways to own this game you can't even get to all of them.

Probably shouldn't be as psyched as I am about finding a good use for the steady stream of Acid and Fire Bombs the game gives you, but Alchemical Weapon doubling up Grenadier Bombs feels real so good. Arrow pointing to damage done by Acid Flask from inventory attached to regular Bomb. Er, arrow I guess, also works for Bombs. Note that the preceding attack missed, so you know that damage is from the Alchemical Weapon attached to the following attack.

I fought that horse just a minute ago. I was completely out of spells, but a single Bestow Grace was enough to take him down with a use of Smite Evil.

A good Pal can more or less solo most of the boss fights in the game, which are in fact mostly Evil, especially the optional ones. Another good fight for Crusader's Edge.

So even after breaking into Vordokai's Tomb with a Bane wand bypassing all the Sisters and Barbs,

Bane opens door.jpg

Valerie still blurted out her name.

Val's name.jpg

Even tried using Bane on the Raven - no dice. I'm going to try to fast forward through the Tomb to see what happens with the Bard camp on the other side then go back and do the chapter in the conventional order.

I don't get your meaning at all

How does it take fun out of the game to make Tristian not bad

People would make fun of Valerie for being "bad". Steam fags also made fun of Jaethal for being "bad". Then I realized it's not the companions themselves that are bad; it's how you build them. Jaethal can make for a pretty decent tank, and a good damage oriented fighter. As my friend Desiderius proved, on many accounts, Valerie can make a decent anything.

No, Tristian is objectively a badly-built character. His Ecclesitheurge archetype is almost entirely useless. Because of reasons I have already explained in detail.

It does not reduce 'fun' to make Tristian an actual well-built character, mechanically. It might make the game less pure, or whatever, but I do not accept that it makes the game less fun.

If you break into the Tomb, MC doesn't have to fight a Soul Eater, only the two blurters. And when you're done with the Tomb the Barb Camp has already moved on so you miss all that experience, and your quest log erroneously thinks you've met the Defaced Sisters already.

So I get to clear Tomb twice in the interest of science.

Guess it's best to do the camp then.

Says the dipshit who admitted to never even playing him. Filling your whole Cleric spellbook up with non-Cleric spells isn't the only use, or even the best use, for an Ecclesitheurge. If you want a pure Nuker, roll a Sorc. Same as Feyspeaker wisely using the Illusions/Enchantments they need along with the Druid spells that are core to the class instead of trying to be a shitty Illusionist.

I would really like to understand how to make a useful character out of jaethal while keeping her archetype (which in my opinion is a judge). My One True God suggested making her a cleric, but while it keeps her devotion to Urgathoa it kind of lacks the judgement aspect.

I don't have any companion builds, sorry. I usually wing it as I go along. Jaethal always ends up as a 3 Inquisitor/ Rest into fighter for me. Every time... I like her as a fighter.

Valerie is bad presentation. She also made a long lasting feat investment into exotic weapon, and decisions like that are better left to the player. And then there's that CON which is supposed to help. A more well rounded stat base would be better for everyone.

Also blonde with 9 int, come on.

Compare to say Minsc in BG2. He comes with high str, and 2 stars in: 2 handed sword, mace, bow. That's super versatile way of presenting a fighter companion to player.
u might say: well she's like dazzler n shiet. but nothing in her feat selection actually implies that - it's all what designer thought constitutes more survivability aka moar hitpoints
or: you can stack shit or multiclass. but the most important impression is first one; and then add her flat personality and everything and you get the fact that Owlcats aknowledged themselves in their own memes: Valerie gets 0 fanmail
