The Overthrow Heavy Flail states that it Trips on the first successful hit it lands. Here's some ultra cheese: I wonder if we can somehow get the Trip action proccing off something like Great Cleave, so that we can trip every single enemy that's around us. Now that would be amazing.

That IS interesting.
Of course, A Kineticist can already do that with Bowling and Blade Whirlwind.... much, much earlier.
He doesn't really excel at CMB, though.

You can get there. They already have a nice DEX for Fury's Fall and often don't have much else to spend feats on, so can get to Tandem Trip and the like.

Two-Handed Fighter 7th-level ability, Backswing. Attacks of opportunity? Haste? What does it work on, and what does it not work on? I wonder.

Well, it works on the Haste attack but not on AoOs. Boring.

It's funny how this game is relatively streamlined on a Baldur's Gate style level (not a AAA in 2020 level), then it randomly throws a curveball at you like a wizard who disintegrates or petrifies your party members in one hit. Also the only way to cure high level petrification seems to be a spell Octavia doesn't have, so I have to wait for a level up to get Harrim back. I'm sure some will praise this for various reasons, but IMO it's just tedious. Why not sell a scroll of cure petrification for a large chunk of money? Meh. Thankfully I'm near a level up so whatever.

The wizard even dropped shitty low-tier items. Hoorah.

It seems this Westerner means something... "streamlined", huh.. usually it means "simplified" or "made accessible", but may be he would surprise me?

A, I see. The Westerner has failed the literacy check and goes to rant about the game difficulty. Now I see what they mean by "streamlining".

So mods are fun.

Everything except True Strike.jpg

Here's your Trip build, Yosh:

Dragon Okbo.jpg

Dragon Okbo II.jpg

See, if CMs were implemented properly you could do stuff like this (CMs of Opportunity):

CMs as intended.jpg

Poor Gregz can't catch a break:

Gregz miss.jpg

That is a Zen Archer from CotW BTW, getting effectively 13 attacks a turn or something with Target of Opportunity and Greater Snap Shot.

5 levels of Inquisitor for WIS to initiative, Solo Tactics (incredible with CotW/Eldritch Arcana), and Bane Weapon.

I sympathize with your point, but there's a wide grey area on this side of Call of Duty. I wouldn't be playing games like this if I didn't enjoy complexity and tactics. Problem is, there's no other spell this complicated to remove, so it's unexpected, and from what I've read the PnP version has multiple solutions the game does not for some reason. Even the one solution it has was apparently patched in, so originally it was just a reload. I don't think that's great design, and it has nothing to do with "difficulty."

Which wizard?

Medusa something, there were two of them. Haste and DPS focus obliterated them both almost instantly, but in the time it took to get to their position they cast some insta-petrify spells. Most passed save checks, but Harrim did not.

I've also suffered a bit at the hands of the balance gods. Got the keys to the kingdom, did a bit of kingdom faff and then headed for Sorrowflow. Path to it is deceptively long due to lack of river crossings and about 50% of the random encounters on the road are unavoidable party wipes (groups of level 7 wargs, group of level 5/6 snakey bois, I am level 4). Think this might be a hint that I shouldn't be trying to get to Sorrowflow yet but I persevere a bit longer and after a few reloads I get there. The companion NPC who is waiting for me is only level 5 so I suspect that the random encounters are just tuned a bit harsh. Reminds me of early game KCD in which most ambushes are death.

Going to put the game down for a bit now, only partly because of this - mostly the problem is that unlike most people in lockdown I don't have much time to play and get interrupted a lot. Blah, blah, personal reasons.

Sorrowflow is in a zone that you shouldn't be able to handle at your level. The area itself isn't that bad, but, as you found out, those random encounters are way too much for a single character. I don't know why that mission unlocks so soon.

Despite the text, you probably shouldn't go there alone. There will be a conversation at the destination and the rest of the party will depart home (Kaessi will also part with her group).

Wouldn't you still be without companions while going back?

True, but at least with Kaessi.

Is there not some way to summon party members on the world map or something? If not, with a bit of save scumming I might well be able to get back too. I can just summon dogs/wolves to act as tanks as needed if I can avoid the warg groups

When you are in the world map, you can click the icon with the three stick figures (next to the "camp" icon) to change your party (you will waste some time, but it's better than nothing).

There is. But it takes time - proportional to travel time from capital. I guess it would take many days from Sorrowflow.
