Hap brother I need you in the Owlcat Alpha forums. I've been straining the brains of some InEffect fools trying to tell me that the Eldritch Scoundrel companion is bad when he's actually pretty much ideal in all respects.

I keep posting pics of him owning everything and they just can't deal.

Since I am currently playing Lawful Evil, I want to mention that the special buildings for Lawful (Bulletin Board, +2 to solving problems in the area) and Evil (Stocks, +1 to solving problems in the area) are especially nice too.

Do multiples stack?

Haven't tried it. Might check at some point.
(In the early game villages do not have many available slots for that. It is already an issue to fit Bulletin Board, Stocks, Artisan Shops (up to 2), Shrine, and keep space for Teleportation Circle. There is no space left for anything else.)

Bulletin boards used to stack in the past, but they no longer do. I don't know about stocks (never played an evil MC), but I don't see why they would.

I played a game with villages full of bulletin boards and it was so nice to be able to resolve any card without a single chance of failure. Now with those magic golden points you can do the same for important events, but they still are a limited resource.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Worked pretty well for me in the Varnhold dlc, my main was a Hospitaler.

made mine str but naked using whatever best 2hander i find, currently a +2 flaming earth breaker. maybe gonna stick to earthbreaker, there is one good at varnhold and varrask makes a masterpiece.
whats yours?

Think I was stuck with a greatsword +1 throughout the dlc. Have to check my save, but don't think I found anything else good for her.

How would i know if Varnhold DLC was imported or not to main campaign? I hear about choice when you get letter about Varn from Aldori, but i do not see any choice.

There's supposed to be a pop up asking you which save to import at this point. Did you not get it?

I did the Technic League quest with Reognar and Octavia.

I haven't used Orc yet, but damn I might now, he can tank with mirror image and does great damage.

Yes, Regongar is good. He can also use heavy armor form lvl13 on, in case you feel he needs it.
In the early game he is a bit of a pain, because he keeps on fighting (ie, keeps on getting beaten up) for a while after his health drops to zero, which makes him a prime candidate for costly "Raise Dead". But after he gets some mirror images, he is fine.

Not heresy just gimping yourself.

probably, but i want to try out different classes and as many weapons as possible to fit in the party. many times i restart trying a different class or respec.

I use my unholy powers to free you from this and give you permission to use the respec mod so you don’t have to start a new play through a every time you want something novel. You are welcome.

Much more efficient to try ten different builds each playthrough using existing companions. Using the merc gimps you in comparison.

Y’all are still playing imaginary games which suck instead of the existing one which doesn’t.

Go to the endless dungeon and try any builds you want. You can even model several variants of the game party.

And when you're ready - play the main game.

At least that's how I would have dealt with restardation.

I don't use mercs and I agree that you can explore most archetypes with some creativity within the constraints of the companions. And the MC can be whatever. This is the way to go if you aren't going to mod.

I did that initially (edit: with a sorc and paladin MC) and that's what made me encouraged to try the respec mod; I can get them to be plenty powerful following the constraints of the game so it doesn't feel like it's significantly warping the challenge to let myself change their base class, too.

Frankly, other than a few minor things, the only thing that building with the companions base class really bar is the cheeky monk dips for everyone InEffect style stuff. While I think that the game sort of encourages this derangement because of it's heavy emphasis on touch attackers making armor less effective, I don't think it's necessary and just means you are always your class - 1 lvl which is kind of anti-fun.

I don't change the base stats or alignment of the companions and don't allow myself any of that. I guess I can do whatever with the MC and went ahead with a monk level for this Slayer but I might just spec him into heavy armor and onslaught or something after some more playtesting.

Off the top of my head, without modding anything:

Valerie:
- TSS/Stalwart tar pit
- Feyspeaker shifter pounce team
- Bard archetypes
- Kinetic Knight
- Sorc, Cha based gish
- Probably a million more martials

Amiri
- Barb
- Freebooter
- Sacred Huntsmeister / ranger
- 2HF, Slayer, etc

Linzi
- Bard
- Sorc
- Feyspeaker
- Finesse martials, cha gish
- Archer archetypes

Jaethal
- Inquis melee or ranged
- Cleric
- Martial anything
- Arcane
- Pretty much anything her alignment allows because she has 14+ everywhere. Uhh I guess grenadier Jaethal could be a thing?

Haram:
- Cleric
- Druid
- Inquisitor
- Martial with full plate

Regongar:
-Magus
-CHA based gishes

Octavia
- AT
- Wizard
- Finesse gish
- Ranged martial/gish

Really the only things you are kind of lacking are Paladins and Monks.

Nok-Nok, Ekun, Jub and Kalikke are kind of boxed in but they are also some of the most powerful archetypes in the whole game so that's probably intentional.

Tristian is fine as a cleric and quite powerful although his ecclessitheurge primary domain is less fun than it could be. I am also personally triggered by it and you might not suffer from such autism.
