Clever, but from what I've seen of the Golarion setting, orgy really does mean orgy-porgy.
One god is a drunk who became a god BECAUSE he was drunk.
One is an elf whose temples double as brothels.
One is an undead hedonist.

Just as an interesting side note... Golarion is basically not-Faerun. Faerun as we know it was made more family friendly before it took off.

  • Prostitution is the main industry of Forgotten Realms, "sex workers" are everywhere and there are about 100 different names for different kinds of prostitutes.
  • Incest is normal way for families to "indulge feelings of mutual affection"

All of this is confirmed by Ed Greenwood himself, from Ed's responses to fan queries on the Candlekeep forum. So Saith Ed here, here, and here. It's also all completely, 100% canon thanks to Ed's ludicrously favorable contract; other writers can try to dance around the creepy shit, but they can't outright contradict anything or else the whole setting falls into Ed's greasy, sticky hands.

The degeneracy is coming from inside the house.

And as much as I complained about people complaining about the spider swarms, I also see where they're coming from. Again, in BG1 terms, imagine that when you got to the Friendly Arm Inn there was a questgiver who said "I seem to have misplaced my precious necklace! It's not worth much, but it belonged to my father. Can you fetch it for me? I think I dropped it a ways east of the Temple of Lathandar in Beregost." It sets it up as a nice, low-level quest for some easy XP and a tiny bit of cash, and then WHAM! You get immediately turned to stone by Basilisks. And Basilisks are easily handled if you know what you're doing, but if you aren't familiar with the ruleset, then you probably don't. The Spider Swarm quest is a bit like that - it's less that it's difficult, and more that it's just kind of sadistic. It sets you up to think that it'll be an easy romp for XP to ease new players into the game, and then smacks you with enemies that your weapons can't damage and that do permanent ability damage. Again, not an insurmountable challenge, especially if you know your D&D/Pathfinder, and overall maybe even a good design choice as it smacks players in the face with "Look man sometimes you just won't be ready to complete quests when you pick them up." But I can understand how it would be frustrating. It's a very oldschool approach, which I appreciate, but not everyone will.
Not really because you can't even escape from that encounter and regroup. And I don't mind immunities (not to mention that the game explicitly states there will be enemies like that) but that swarm is just retarded. Firstly, why is there a giant spider too which can be easily dealt with? WTF? Secondly, such small spiders should be easily trodden. But OK let's say they're magical, in that case let the player deal with them by some other means. I've bought Alchemist's fire from Bokken just for that and that didn't work at all and none of my companions could harm them. Trying every possible thing just isn't fun and wastes too much time. Not to mention it's illogical. At least let my party escape, why wouldn't they?

Anyway, after playing for a bit I find Pathfinder more entertaining than Tyranny (which I've quit after 2 h) but still not that enjoyable. The RTwP is just tedious and everything is too slow (but that's a common trait in contemporary RPGs, e.g. D:OS has the same problem). I like the time limit though and wish more games would start using it.

I'm 10 hours in and had like 2 pathetic cosmetic bugs so far - party walked on top of the bush and weapon didn't show up being held inside inventory until I reopened it.
There's no unfinished feel.
Also, I really dig the kingdom management part!

There's a bug with confining mouse to a game window (which forces you to alt-tab after every zone transition), on two monitors at least. It crashes for a lot of people when you alt-tab in fullscreen mode. There was a gamebreaking bug (that was thankfully fixed with 1.0.2) in Season of Bloom part of the game. There are memory issues (game eventually swells up from 3gb ram to 8+, if you play long enough). Transitions are long as it is, but also save folder is on your system drive, which pretty much defeats the point of having the game on SSD, since half of your waiting time is saving and loading (unless you are playing story mode). Bunch of items are not working properly (nature weapon bonuses and the like, might be fixed in the recent patch). Some areas in the game fail to load background textures, so you are essentiallyl walking in the void (everything else still works though, it's just a visual bug). There's a quest breaking bug in Lizardfolk village (don't bother with it till you get glitterdust spell ready).

I probably forgot some bullshit along the way (and I just listed what I have encountered during my run) + some of it is being fixed at steady pace (props to devs in this regard), but the game is VERY unpolished and that's just bugs.

As far as UI/UX is concerned, It desperately needs a switch to speed up time, option to skip resting reports and banter, option to leave from your throne room to the outside/tavern. Meld all of the layers of kingdom management into (N)ONE loading screen, not fucking THREE... you should also be able to access your journal from management screen. You should be able to (again, make it optional) make rations on the fly, being stuck with 30 potatoes and ham in a dungeon without being able to rest, because "you need a speshul ration that you can only buy from traders" is straight up retarded. As far as quests are concerned, markers aren't needed but at least SOME information in quest journal would be nice, same thing with general information about the world, creatures and shit. I.e. when I fight against spriggans, what kind of protection from alignment do I use, why the fuck I have to google this shit, instead of having some sort of Monster Identification skill in the game or just a simple (optional) tooltip when you mouse-over during pause in fights.

Despite all that, like I said somewhere before in the thread, the game is very fun (and worth a punt even in current state), but don't diminish the issues it has, they are very real and very annoying.

The rites commonly held throughout history did not exclude sexual activity. Among other things, people bathed in blood, were strung from trees by their feet, drank seed, etc.
Crealy it's an adept of some chtonic deity talking down to a bacchic degenerate.

I found a Firebelly spell bug. It lasts 1 minute per caster level and each use of it is supposed to reduce its duration by 1 minute. But it does not. So you can use it once per round instead while its duration ticks down slowly :D

If you want to argue that Trolls shouldn't be targetable by the Hold Person spell for gameplay balance reasons, then that's fine, but arguing that they aren't humanoid by definition is ridiculous.
Btw the truth is a lot simplier - boss carried +3 club with permanent Free Action. Which you can loot from him.

I think it's the later that's bugged--with the campaign being so long, 4th level being more than enough to defeat the stag lord and all that. Or maybe that's a built-in cheat for challenge parties with less than maximum companions...

If it's not a bug, it should have been properly explained.
fact: the game need a manual

fun fact: the manual will be around 950 pages, nobody will read it.
Well for non pathfinder type of player ( me ) nmanual would be nice as in terms what's in the game and does it or does it not stack. I had to run cheat engine to get a proper idea of my char build. Least they could do is add more elaborate descriptions to feats, spells and classes. ( weapons to ). Like whole CMB, flat footed and touch spells are completely new to me.
For Example I found a guide on char build, right, and he just says " it depends on DM if those effects would stack, ask before game". How should I know if they stack? - Cheat engine.
For example: I did DD build around claws. I assumed that Dragon style's (roar and just style) stack with claws. But they are not. Claws are actually natural weapon. When in PnP I can totally imagine situation where DM give's it a go.

Greenwood has a fetish for women running around nekkid. Read Crown of Fire. All of his female main characters are naked at one time or another. The problem is that he spends so much time on it that his writing becomes a steaming pile of shit. The entire Elminster series, where good ole El went two steps further and became a full blown tranny, is a dog doo-doo piled on cat crap piled on sheep shit piled on all other farmyard animal feces.

I stumbled across some FR audiobook or another and listened to it for a while. Something about a young wizard accidentally drinking a potion of strength and turning into a muscle girl and growing so huge her clothes ripped apart. I turned it off after that. That's not my fetish. :?

Here it is. It's from the damn Pool of Radiance novel of all things.

Greenwood would have her run around the town soon after being chased by a mob only to have his Gary Sue save the girl and bone her.

Also I say don't fuck with XP. I have "who takes on skill gains XP" which gave Lindzi extra level in the long run which feels nice, but overall XP gains feel extremely well balanced (on "share with everyone") and every level up feels earned, and you gain exact levels, competence & abilities you need during story i.e. 4th level is perfect for Staglord, level ~7ish is perfect for trolls and south-west areas etc. And having all companions top level means if you feel like you need particular one they be there to help.

Yeah it sucks when you get like 60 xp for something that feels hard but what is important is that you don't get overleveled too much even if you vacuum clean everything around. (btw I Evade ALL random encounters)

For magus players - how do you use spell recall? I can't find it among abilities.
There should be a small arrow above the ability on the quick access bar. You can open it and use the ability. Works for spontaneously converting cleric spells to heal/cause wounds as well.
Got it, thanks.

I have to say, I'm over six hours in the game, and I think only about halfway through chapter 1. 1 of 6. Feels pretty damn good.
