Arcane
On core difficulty there are some incredibly satisfying encounters in this. I just beat the dragon with the dwarf assassin part. Nice touch, having the CYOA text part lead into that, with a lot of skill checks to determine where you start, injury level etc. Moments like this make me wonder how anyone can write this game off.
Also, the dialogue if you fail to kill it is quite flavourful
There's really nothing much wrong with the game other than its teething troubles, the woke infusion and the writing needing editing (a lot of it's good, just some of it's unnecessary, etc.). The core game and implementation are sound, and it'll mostly be polished up nicely in a few months, no doubt.
IOW, most of the criticism is of the order of, "it doesn't fulfil my special snowflake criteria for the bestest CRPG eva, so it's shit."
