I had myself, Lann, Kamallia Harris, the paladin, the autist girl, and the tiefling. Two of us were (are) level four, the rest level three.

This fight wasn't optional. I had just come back from continuing to attempt to clear out the marketplace, which drained a good number of resources and demanded a rest. I wasn't about to rest in the field, so we hauled all our looted shit the hour hike back to the tavern. It was completely logical and SOP for a computer roleplaying game. You go out on sorties, you fight, you expend ammunition and resources, you go back to base and replenish.

It appears that the game tracks how much time you spend resting in the Old Folks Home. It wasn't really a surprise the fight was sprung on me; the game warns you not to 'go too far' from there because demons might eventually attack.

Look, I won the fight (although I still don't know how or why). I'm not new at this. The game is just janky as fuck in some regards. Enjoy the fact that I regaled you with the story of my victory.

And fuck you, mediocreposter.

Having done this shit at level 3 it was the worst and most unfun fight of the game of me. It coloured a lot of my early negative impressions of this game.
The fight triggered for me before I had the chance to level up Nenio even once, and teach her grease or even any spells which are not her garbage starting spells. In hindsight I should have purchased scrolls and teached her that way, but i was too tilted to think of that.
On Core level 3 winning that with even a single structure left alive without Grease is borderline impossible.
Killing the minotaur is fairly easy as you can cheese him into the militia rows, but after that so much trash is spammed at you from all gates, that your dps is just not enough to get through the rows of fodder and kill the arsonists in time.
Obviously doing this at level 5 with haste and higher BaB for 3 attacks per turn as opposed to 1 makes it a stomp.
They really should have hardcoded this to trigger at level 4 or so, it triggers on your fourth rest in the inn I believe? Which can be at wildly different levels.

I've done it at levels 3 and 4 never level 5, and I have never used Nenio in it. I have used Woljif for some arcane spells though.

Grease the first gate, set most characters with ranged weapons to pick off gate invaders and guys coming in from the roof, set up a tank and reach weapon character to fuck up anyone coming out of the gate grease - if you don't have grease but have a druid's entangle, this will probably work almost as well since the main idea is to slow down guys here so you can manage them and destroy the arsonists quickly. Use your ranged characters to fuck up the arsonists when they appear. If you have a grease left, use it on the minotaur when he comes in and try to tank him inside it so he eventually falls, use Seelah's smite evil on him, and go ham with meleers. Between smite evil, aoos, and sneak attacks, he should explode pretty quickly. Easy peasy.

Edit: Crispy Aww, muffin. I'm sorry.

Yeah, no. 10 more arsonists spawn on all gates after you kill the minotaurus.
I killed the minotaurus with 0 structures burned, before I could clear the newly arriving 10 arsonists every single structure got scorched.
Mayyybe if you know about the second arsonist wave you could place your own archers on the roof so that they can pick the arsonists off easily, but winning the fight is not that hard. Doing it with any structures remaining is.

I believe you, I just haven't seen this because I'm sure I'd remember that. I'm not sure why that would be since I agree that that would be hard to deal with. What difficulty are you playing on? I've played it on hard and core with additional enemy behaviours enabled. Also, 41.9% of players have the achievement for it and much of the playerbase on Steam is full of retards, so ... +M

Tinkering with builds does pay off! Finally managed to get over 1k per spell cast! Costs a 9th level spell slot and a use of a Maximise rod.

fHRNcY3.jpg

The AoE version of this spell loses either Empower or Bolster, but still deals ~800 damage to each target.

And a lot of guys said that Negative Burst(tier 9 lich spell) is "overpowered"...

Since this is a priest/divine spell, nobody cares about "overpoweredness"...

On kingmaker, by maximizing/empowering disintegrate(rod obviously) and making obtavia a Arcane trickster, I managed to deal over 700 damage in a round. But she scored a critical.

Core. Hmmh it seemed a little suspect to me aswell, the dialogue really made it sound like the fight should end after you kill the minotaur. Maybe I ran into a really exotic bug or something of the like, once the fight ended I didn't bother to to retry it since I was sick of this games bullshit.
It sounded for Crispy like the problem were arsonists after the death of the minotaur aswell.

Now that I think about it, the game probably uses a check to end the fight if all arsonists and the minotaur are dead. If you kill the minotaur fast enough before new arsonists show up the fight ends, if you take your time kiting him you damn yourself to a battle of attrition against ever more reinforcing arsonists. Can anyone confirm that?

But, guess what? For some weird reason, even though there were still at least ten or so enemies left and zero structures left "alive", I got a cut scene and suddenly I'm back in the tavern with the mute orc finally deciding to speak up, telling me we won! What the fuck?

Quoting myself:
Woke writing in a nutshell: won't let you progress the conversation until you congratulate the NPC which has been totally useless in the battle, for the victory which you've won for her.

That lich burst is a bit shit tbh. It requires a save(!!!) and is subject to SR. 50% of the damage can just get gone. Fuck that.
Bolt of Justice/Storm of Justice are saveless and ignore SR. Require a bit to get going tho, but it's not a lvl20 build. Does alright at ~lvl 11
I also made a Electrical version of this. Uses the Stormlord gloves from Blackwater. The extra damage from bloodlines still get added. It's weaker, but doesn't require a wizard dip.

Guys, I'm playing on Core difficulty. If I change any of the settings, will achievements related to difficulty be disabled? I'd just like to have respec option, but also get Core achievements.

I think the only one you can change without having it go to custom is the enemy behaviours one. You can play with it in the opening options menu when starting a new game. See if it stays on core or if it moves over to custom when you change things.

Uh, I did rest. In my own room. With that stupid elf retard chick in there. She's too young, so don't even think about it.

Resting is specifically what triggers the fight. Hello? McFly?

cleric bias yes.
anyone can make a caster out of angel & azata.

Anti wizard bias. AS my master Zacharius said "common folk have never been able to appreciate those above then"

That lich burst is a bit shit tbh.

It can be used for AoE damage and AoE heal at the same time, your spell is a single target spell.

-----------------

Talking about Wizards, did anyone here made a arcane trickster transmuter using sneak attack and disintegrate + metamagic? I'm thinking on making a build around it.

Lol the option to disable character respec literally does nothing. Go to Hilor, ask him, he respecs your characters for free at least five times, and it does not lock you out of core. I respecced my main and Wenduag twice and Daraen once already, still on core with respec disabled.

You also need to kill all demons, if some are present. That said, I've never seen 10 of arsonists together. 4 did spawn... maybe 6?

Does someone know how to fix the bug where your character portrait turns white ? I found some suggestions to go to Hilor and retrain but Hilor is gone in my game. Is there another way to fix it ? The bug was so powerful that affected even multiple old savegames reaching back hours, so reloading an old game is also out of question.

I think I was level 4 when I did the tavern defense. I did not bother with grease or pit spells, I just rushed my PC, the paladin chick and the rogue to the gate, right to the spot where enemies spawned. PC and the paladin tank and provide flanking, while rogue pops spawning enemies like blood balloons (they really should have moved the spawn point further out). Rest of the team held the roofs, with Lann sniping whoever gets through my defenses as well. Did not lose a single building that way. It was pretty fun actually. So much so that I now regret avoiding it the when I restarted the game later.

I this happens if the file at C:\Users\(Your PC Name)\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous\Portraits gets fucked. Find out which file is used, delete it and insert a new one, and you should have a working portrait again. Can also be used to change portraits mid game without respec. At least if it is the same bug as in Kingmaker, didn't have it in Wrath yet.
Windows+R > enter %appdata% to get to the hidden AppData folders, if someone is not a techie and nonetheless has the bug.

Resting is specifically what triggers the fight. Hello? McFly?

The fight triggers when you reach day 3. You can easily clear majority of available locations before that if you're careful. The trick is that for some reason the game recommends you to sleep for some ridiculous amount of time which will trigger the fight sooner. You need to uncheck "rest for recommended period of time" and only rest for the minimal time available.
