Deadfire got a huge boost in review score from the autumn sale.

Recent reviews are 95% overwhelmingly positive, 165 of which are from the past three days. Overall user review score jumped nearly 2%.

Has the games difficulty been adjusted since launch? Put about 20 hours into the game but got bored because PotD was such a cakewalk

There's a few intriguing details in there. I wonder why there are multiple versions of Llengrath, for example. Presumably if you killed her in the first game you get a different one now, but why would there be a third one? Is Bekarna really alive, or is this some kind of dream/memory of her? As I recall, the figure in Ageal's mask isn't labeled as Ageal. Is it a different character, or was the character renamed at some point? Well, we'll find out in a couple of weeks

This might mean they have broken new ground with sales - casuals with no taste for writing quality

I'm only seeing Very Positive 94%. Still a big improvement though. Might augur well for the final DLC if they can hold onto it

If the winter sale gives it a high enough boost, they could break 90% total review score with that average.

200 of those reviews are from the past 3 days the game has been on sale. The winter sale/goty edition could easily make the total review score go up 9%, as long as the average stays above 90%

The DLC isn't enjoying the same surge in review scores- Beast Of Winter is managing a "mostly positive" but poor Seeker Slayer Survivor is stuck at exactly 50%. A surge in sales would probably result in a surge in reviews which may increase the user score, but right now it looks like people don't like the "focus on one aspect" philosophy of the DLCs as much as they like the "more of everything" philosophy of a full-on expansion

I predicted SSS would get mixed reviews. An arena DLC is already niche, and this was designed intentionally for people that thought PoTD was too easy.

Beast of Winter is a high quality adventure, and should have a higher score. Apparently a lot more people find puzzles boring though.

SSS plays to this franchise's strengths, though. The rewards might not be well implemented and conceived, but the overall idea of progressively tougher encounters is a good one in this particular case. Sure, it's hack and slash design, but since they have trouble with creating a lot of maps, an arena map is a fairly inoffensive compromise. I don't think the low score is due to a focus on one thing, but that one thing being the combat. Don't forget people were clamoring for a lower difficulty than easy in PoE1, and many people don't play RPGs for the combat, in fact they actively hate the combat. So, it's not really surprising or mysterious why SSS has a low score.

I'm looking forward to returning to this game when all the DLC and patches hit. I was skeptical of Woedica's Challenge but it seems like the game could have meaningful resting restrictions when that challenge is played alongside the Eothas and Rymrgand challenges.

Only trouble is that the game's existing encounters and systems (including the beautiful custom AI programming) are tailored toward per-encounter abilities, so it's going to be back to the old "Auto-Pause after every action to imitate Turn-Based" routine in PoE 1.

The silly plot and sillier characterization are the only things which prevent this game from being strictly better than The White March (though it's definitely strictly better than the base PoE 1).

You can't possibly finish the game on PotD, I'd say not even on Hard, with Eothas' and Woedica's challenges both on. I challenge you to try :)

If they don't change the amount of uses per rest, yeah, most likely it would be impossible. I guess you could have an all-martial party with the least amount of active abilities and just rest very infrequently, but eh.
