Maybe graze shouldn't pen, you know, it would make sense and make spell casting grazes more powerful in comparison.
There is such thing as spell grazes?!

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.

Have you not played the first game?
Finished it a few times, not much of a mechanical lover here, just don't remember.

Yes... crucially, spell grazes allowed things like cc to still land, but with diminished duration. (I honestly don't know if I liked it... it definitely made CC even more powerful. A 7 second paralyze is still huge.)

I mean, would that not be better?

Yes, but some changes needed to be made. Not as drastic as making resting vestigial, though. Priests and Ciphers needed a nerf, some more general talents added, making recovery less twitchy, better AI, some more class-specific talents, restrict resting and that's it. Coupled with multiclasses it had the potential to become quite a good combat system, but alas.

you know what a good suggestion for the sequel would be?

adding more markers for map-travel.

EXAMPLE: you click on Caed Nua, and a list appears asking if you wish to fast-travel to the Inn part of Caed Nua, or to the Great Hall, etc.

would save hours of loading time.

They confirmed this, at least for Neketaka.

There won't be loading screens for sub-maps, so even if they didn't have that option it would still be faster. I think Neketaka only has fast travel points for different districts, rather than individual buildings in them, but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure that it was mentioned that there would be quick-travel to key buildings from the city map screen in one of the Deadfire streams.

the entire combat log is way too cluttered. get those fucking icons out of there. there should be a way to filter out all the shit and get it to say just:

ENEMY grazed by "Blessed Harvest": 130 dmg.

experienced players only need to pause once to get a look at the details we don't need to be reminded every line that our spear is doing piercing damage, and at least I don't personally need to see every single time the dice roll, only if it missed/grazed/hit/crits.

i dunno, I can't be the only person who feels this way.

Isn't that a combat log message that has already been expanded to display more info than usual?

It is indeed. You have to hover over the roll to see this info. You can get an even bigger window by holding shift, as it's written there.
I don't see how it's cluttered. Unless you don't know how the calculation is displayed yet, you get the information you need immediatly. Simple glance at the icon and you know which defense was targeted.

Yeah, that's a tooltip that appears on mouseover. If you look close, you can see the line underneath:

Phantom crits Sporeling for 19 cold damage.

The log is improved from the first game, as you can sort by party character. The (normally supressed) info that appears on mouseover is very helpful in seeing where all the inputs are coming from in terms of character stats and how they affect the specific attack you are making.
