I hope they do smart level scaling where an enemy has a minimum and maximum scaled level (like Wiz 8 if I remember right)

:x They best release some kind of "ideal level to start expansion" information, don't want to go in to it when it's a weaker experience. They probably won't though as they will want to insist it's great all the time, but that just isn't how it goes.

I hope they drop enemies using a different casting system to the player (their spells are infinite and on cooldowns. At least, that's how it plays).

During the kickstarter they said they were going to do a expansion, but do it in two parts so that the first shorter part could come out fairly early, rather than making us all wait for the full one.

As for the skying is falling Obsidian talk, i don't really see any evidence PoE as been forgotten and everyone hates it, besides here.

Thought we could have a topic discussing the expansion.

I haven't followed Pillars news much. I know of two characters for the expansion and I know about some sort of multiclassing that I have asked for. Raised level cap.

Maybe not multiclassing, but choose abilities from other classes or whatever. I won't look it up now. I have a cold and it feels like my head is about to implode. New characters can be seen below.

I also read that backer will get parts 1 and 2 but I can't confirm yet.

There is an interview with Fergus Urqhart on Shacknews where he confirms that backers get both parts (don't have a link handy)

It got pretty awkward when that presenter claimed he sank 50 hours in the game and said his party was at level 15.

He said 5, I think?
I'm pretty sure it was 15, because he tried to quickly correct himself by saying it was 14 (lol).
I watched the video and the way he never paused during fights, and the way no one in the party took any damage.

Apparently popamole is the norm. Whoever honestly defends this game accepts he is a popamoler.

It was really nice they included an optional switch for the expansion areas scaling though. I only regret that it won't matter if they scale or not because the game is designed to be piss easy at any difficulty.

Or maybe he was playing on 2x speed and Easy Difficulty so he could fit the demonstration into the ridiculous 15 minute time slot he had and actually show people a variety of stuff, you absurd try-harder

Lol, Infinitron:
1. I've already played PoE, and that's the way it plays, whether you are making a demonstration or not. There is no challenge to combat at any difficulty. The video confirmed for me that being able to win in combat without pausing is intended. That's some way to catch that IE games spirit innit?
2. difficulty makes no difference with regards to enemy or party damage.

Please show us your video of, let's say, a level 4 party against Raedric on POTD, or the Skaen Temple leader battle, without pausing.

Yeah, you'd have to be pretty obtuse to not recognize the part the passive stat increases play as a result of difficulty change.

When you remember all the criticism during the beta days that pausing was needed in excess, this bit is particularly funny.

No challenge in combat makes experimenting with builds pointless. So a huge part of replayability is lost.

Want to know a really funny thing about the beta - no one was complaining about it being easy. I think there hasn't been an opinion/criticism about PoE which hasn't been expressed by someone at some point, so I don't see anything funny here. All kinds of criticism, except for the BB being qualified as easy - that's something I can't recall ever seeing.

Who gives a fuck what he looks like?

It's possible to play on PoTD without pausing through the tough early game but very risky in a couple of places such as Eothas tombs and the cave spores if that fight gets out of hand. Maybe Raedrics fight but not with story companions/ a fair few reloads.
I know they stealth buffed Xaurips to spam paralyze in one of the early patches because I could clear that beach area without pausing and post patch suddenly half my party got stun locked and killed.

Hey, turns out Josh hated the presentation content as much as you guise. :P

Josh said:
Not so sure about the encounter design and frequency of fights as shown in the footage, though.
I wrote up bugs on those encounters but they haven't been addressed yet. I also don't like the ones that were shown in the footage.

Looks like Obsidian decided that showing off gameplay they're completely unsatisfied with was worth the exposure. I imagine most people don't care (if the reception of PoE is anything to go by) so it was probably the right call. :M
