Make the Codex Great Again!
Holy fucking shit, ANOTHER really promising game to pay attention too. I like the premise and setting and the combat looks like something I could really get in to. Possibly the Jagged Alliance 2 successor we have been waiting ages for. :salute:

In reading some of the feedback in this thread, I think it's a very good sign they decided to to not release this year. They got something good here, but it's still going to need a bit more work. Wishlisted! Also happy to see a dev presence here. We are most definitely part of your target audience.
Wouldn't be surprised if the game has another demo released within the upcoming months, so that's something to keep an eye out for ;)

When I left, there just was not fucking ANYTHING RPG wise that was really grabbing my attention.
There is a lot of attractive stuff in the Indie pipeline at the moment at least for me:
  • this
  • Kingsvein
  • Urban Strife
  • Code of the Savage
  • Call of Saregnar
  • Kriegsfront Tactics
  • Underrail Infusion
  • Mystic Land the Search for Maphaldo
  • The Jovian System
  • SKALD: Against the Black Priory
  • Prometheus Wept
  • Heatwave (maybe, if it ever comes out)
  • Deep State (on itch)
Stuff you might have missed more recently to semi recently like A Legionary's Life, Voidspire Tactics, Caves of Lore, Brigand Oaxaca, and Titan Outpost. I am assuming you haven't slept on ATOM RPG + Trudograd and Colony Ship of course.

YMMW: Dead Monarchy, Wandering Sword, Back to the Dawn, Space Wreck, Heads Will Roll: Reforged, and Wartales. Stuff I've yet to check out: Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion (ignore the super generic name it's a probably a direct translation from Chinese).

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
This had an extremely short presence at the Guerilla showcase, but they gave it the wrong name. And they used the game's name on another project.

It's good for stealth to be a factor in a game like this, but this level of misdirection might be a bridge too far.

One of the commenters in that stream said that he/she not sure if the granularity in controls work well in practice, and that's something that's always puzzled me as I've heard others say the same thing too. Yes it does slow things down, in a sense that you need to spend more time on each character's turn fine-tuning their positioning and firing cones, but in a game where you have to use tactics to defeat odds stacked against you, that's never been a bad thing to me before.

Conversely, nuXCOM's condensing everything down to abilities, binary bonuses (eg cover), discrete probabilities, and streamlined action points has never sat right with me because it removes a lot of agency and introduces inconsistencies (why doesn't that barrel 1 square away give me cover?). Yes things happen faster, but if I wanted them to happen faster, I'd just go play an action shooter. It baffles me why people will want to reduce player agency in a game like this.

Because freedom includes the freedom to fuck up and most people can't wrap their heads around that.
Yeah if I'm gonna fuck up, at least let it be my fault. I really hate it when it's a result of some dumb shit game design.
