Codex 2012 Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Dead State Project: Eternity Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Obsidian are not in position to pick what they work on, as long someone comes by waving money theyll do pretty much anything.

As for Fallout 4, as long there are mod tools I can hope modders will fix it.

Divinity: Original Sin
Which is why the consoles already have major issues reaching 1080p and stable FPS on top of that. With settings that look far worse than PC versions of said games do. Generation ahead my arsehole.

Codexers, what's your opinion on the possibility of Fallout 4 offering you the option of playing a Ghoul or a Mutie?

In one hand, it would break the tradition of every Fallout game having you as a human. On the other hand, it could provide a lot of replayability - think of VtM: Bloodlines, where playing with different clans changed significantly the gameplay and how the world reacted to you. Then again, we're dealing with Bethesda - we can't really expect the same level of conversations and writing as VtM:B.

Bethesda wouldn't do anything with it; every race/sex plays the same in TES games 99.9% of the time. They certainly wouldn't have anything interesting change narrative-wise. But if there's an Obsidian-sequel they'd be stuck with that design decision which would either make them do all kinds of unique narrative branches (and they wouldn't blow up their scope for something Bethesda fans are slam-dunk never gonna give one shit about) or (this is what would actually happen) make boring stories and quests where big fundamental changes in who the character is don't matter.

Outgun at what?

Social gaming?
Cloud gaming?
Worse, more sluggish UI (have you guys used the XB1 UI? Holy SHIT)?
Making the user look like a complete douchebag?

Clearly some context is missing. Chief "Technology" Officer... what a laugh.

"Buy consoles and console games so we can keep our stock above $20 please"

I see three options here:

1. He is lying.
2. He is stupid for actually believing in it.
3. He didn't have any experiance with the PC hardware whatsoever and he is talking out of his ass.

Due to the dedicated hardware edge he might be right... for out a month or so.

No dedicated hardware edge or optimization can make a GPU perform at 4x its stated power. Which is what would be required for this to be true.

And it's not even dedicated hardware at this point, just a laptop CPU and a mid-to-low range GPU with some embellishments.

Anyone expecting a system that draws ~120-150W power to exceed performance of a dedicated PC sucking at least twice that amount is a) either clueless or b) having a $$$ agenda to adhere.

You can only get so much performance for $400. That's fine, it still raises the baseline bar over the outdated 360/PS3 trash, so it's better than nothing for future PC ports. It's not like I didn't enjoy Fallout NV because it was build around 360 hardware, so the minimum standard from there can only get better.

And how many people game on an über-expensive High-end laptop with a 880M?

How is that relevent to the question of whether The One(tm)/PS4 are more powerful than top-end PCs?

You were taking a high-end laptop as an example.

Anyone who buys a $2000 laptop for gaming and then brags around that games run better than a $400 PS4 is just outright fucking stupid.

We do not care what the Wormlord kin say - they're being paid to say what their American/jewish masters asks them to say.

Bottom line is, for the price of $400 the PS4 provides excellent overall value. But that's only relevant if you're cheapo. Everyone else plays on a Desktop like a proper man.

Anyone expecting a system that draws ~120-150W power to exceed performance of a dedicated PC sucking at least twice that amount is a) either clueless or b) having a $$$ agenda to adhere.

Or they're a consoletard used to getting custom bleeding-edge hardware sold at a major loss. Xbox360 was like that at release, for instance. However, the world of tech has moved on since then, and indeed, no way can a 150W console compete with a 250W discrete GPU. But, again, consoletards wouldn't know this. There was much confusion and gnashing of teeth about this on neogaf when console specs were announced.

I hate to break the fun, but that data is wrong.

PS4 doesn't use a 7870M, it uses a custom-designed Volcanic Islands with bandwith of 175Gbps and 1,84TFLOPS computing performance.

A shitty R7 260 with API overhead is about what you have in an XBO. That's good if you enjoy 720p/30fps gameplay, but that also makes you a cheapo.

Good Desktop gaming (1080p/60fps) starts with $1000 upwards.
