Wow. Never heard about this Tokyo Mono even though it's spin-off of a game I played on DS(which I just learnt is a remake from a ps1 game). Downloading it right now.
Guess I should buy a Vita now, my 3DS is p. dead since the games I want to play seems to be releasing only on Vita.

i would be wary of a wizardry xth remake... they removed a lot of stuff from the 3 generation xth games in the vita remakes including mind-bogglingly important stuff such as class changing systems! but who knows, the 2 wiz xth games aren't as full-featured/complex as the gen xth games.

i have generation xth 2 and 3, jap versions, installed on my pc cos i wanted to see how viable they were for translation but they are simply massive. i mean, just think back to when you played gen xth 1: code hazard english-translation... remember how much fucking anime-dialog there was?

yeah. 2 and 3 have twice as much. ironically, unlike elminage 2 and 3 which are 100% perfectly playable without knowing a single word of japanese (elminage npcs are there for flavor majority of the time, not to serve as progression-triggers or whatever), the gen xth games are the complete opposite. lots of random moments you have to meet an npc in a specific part of the dungeon in a specific floor and lord help you if you don't know that because it was in jap.... it's why i actually have not played them much, 2 and 3, even though i have played and finished lots of jap crawlers without being fluent.

since i'm currently playing stranger of sword city i realize they have actually moved away quite a bit from that approach from the original three gen xth games, and also wizardry xth and students of the round (all of those games are carbon copies of the other in terms of design/characters/story/systems).

i'm p. sure SoSC is perfectly finishable in moon runes. yeah, there's a fuck-ton of anime-dialog but it's all exposition or info-dumping and the dungeons themselves (so far) are playable on their own. i actually pride myself on clicking as fast as possible through all of the dialog; just like with PoE i'm aiming to finish it without ever reading a complete dialog box.

unlike the gen xth games and the cut-down remake they did, i actually think a vita remake of wizardry xth 1 and 2 would be really good idea. i played around halfway through on jap versions on ps2 emulator and they're like proto-Gen XTH games; you can even notice some dungeon ideas that were expanded upon in gen xth 1-3 just from playing through the wiz xth 1 dungeons.

er, what i'm saying is that unlike gen xth 1-3 which were extremely solid crawlers and which were done a disservice by having a lot of their features removed for the remakes; wizardry xth 1 and 2 are just rough enough that a remake would be a great way to polish them up. a lot of the dungeons in them, especially in 2, are... hmm.... kind of like it was literally the very first time ever they were doing a crawler, and boy does it show.

I didn't play the remake, but I didn't hear good things. Still, for some people that's the only way they could play xth 2 and 3. I can't see anyone translate them anytime soon. Niche game and heavy on dialogue? Kinda hard to find anyone to translating. Which is a shame, 2 and 3 are way better than 1.

Exactly. That's why I want a remake. There's nothing to lost here and way too much to win.

Not sure it's been mentioned before and it's early access, but Star Merc looks sort of cool:

Star Merc is an open world rpg where player choices heavily affect outcomes and drastically change the storyline. The game is about exploring different planets, learning about the inhabitants and dealing with the different factions that like to think they control the universe.

At the very least his pitch sounds good. We'll see I guess.

This looks not real-time but rogue-like (enemies move when you do).

Well yeah. From the developer's Twitter:

"Since it doesn't look like a rouge-like people confuse it as real-time action, but it is a rogue-like. It is."

I guess Sekai guys confused the simultaneous turn system as real-time.

Deep Silver to publish Atlus games in EU:

Deep Silver to publish Atlus and Sega-brand titles in Europe
posted on 07.06.16 at 08:58 AM EDT by Sal Romano (@salromano)

Atlus, Deep Silver, and Sega of America are entering a collaboration to publish multiple Atlus and Sega-brand titles across all European and PAL Territories.

The publishing deal will cover a wide array of future titles for both physical and digital versions across PAL territories, including 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, and Persona 5.

Get quotes from each party below.

Dr. Klemens Kunadratitz, CEO of Koch Media and Deep Silver

Naoto Hiraoka, CEO of Atlus U.S.A.

“In entering this partnership with Deep Silver, I am truly delighted we will be able to release our titles in the European regions. Not only does the deal span multiple titles, but Deep Silver has a strong presence in European and PAL retailers. They have a strong passion for being able to deliver physical games to our fans in those territories, which we hold in high regard.”

We know that Persona 5 is too big not to get imported here. The big news really is that they will also publish their other games such as 7th Dragon III Code: VFD and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Let's hope they will also publish EO5.

Apocalypse is getting a physical copy in Europe? Sweet. There's zero chance that EO5 won't get ported here if they are gonna bother with 7th Dragon.

MAYONAKA GARAN (PC)

A village filled with mystery. The arrival of a saint. Resignation and delight. A merging of the living and the dead.

Mayonaka Garan (Midnight Cathedral) is a VR Visual Novel and 3D Visual Novel. The world and story by CAVYHOUSE will immerse you in 360 degree environment.

The story starts in Daiusu-mura, a village where refugee Christians have been residing since olden days. Protagonist Hamomoru Tachibana has been invited by the villagers to visits this place. A long-desired hallowed cathedral has just been built and villagers are in a festive mood.

However, the village has a tragic history of persecution. They have shaped their own religion as a result of having kept hidden from the public. They seem to honor a foreign saint rather than God. When the saint appears, the border between the living and the dead will blur. A peaceful world will lose its balance.

In the game, you are a village guide. You lead Hamomoru and progress the story by solving the mysteries of miracles. In contrast to VR games where players interact directly with virtual objects, our game aims to make the player feel dropped into the story, without a need for such interaction. In the past, CAVYHOUSE has made story-driven games such as VN + Simulation and VN + Clicker, so the development of a VN + VR game is a new challenge.

We have simultaneously developed a 3D visual novel version that does not require VR devices, and which takes advantage of camerawork unavailable in VR games. Depending on the player's environment, either version may be selected.

We are probably getting Brave Dungeon. Hopefully. I really like Legend of Dark Witch, and we got both games so, probably? Wish Dungeon and Azumatei kwaidan look cool too. Wish Dungeon + is coming out on steam as well? In English? Cool.

Reminds me of Artifact Adventure a bit, might try it out.

Fuck, Japanese indie keeps getting fun.

There's a lot of that on the 3DS store, surprisingly. Well, mostly from this small company called Circle Entertainment, but hell, better than the usual. Doujin = Funjin. Lol at VR Visual Novel though.

3DS is dead. I did unlock it but never played anything but Yokai Watch. I have it for 4 years, played only 4 games: Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei 4(these 3 I bought) and Yokai Watch(pirated). Only finished KH. All the other 3 I dropped near the ending.

There are some good games on that link:

Project Nimbus is a high-speed mech action game that
takes place in a desolated world, where players control
armed humanoid battlesuits known as "Battleframes".
In this game, you are able to fly around freely in the sky
while dodging missiles or shooting missiles down with
your machine gun. The true pleasure of this game lies in
the fact that you can engage in combat with enemy squads
using various weapons and defeating large weapons,
as well as unique ace pilots.

True horror lurks in the shadows.
From the creator of the Clock Tower series and the director of The Grudge, comes the next terrifying flight from the scissors.
Hifumi Kono and Takashi Shimizu come together to introduce a horror where true fear leaks through the whole story.
・A 3D point-and-click horror game
・3 Playable protagonists
・Multiple endings, but only 1 true ending

Welcomed aboard a luxurious cruise liner, you are spending your time enjoying this rare opportunity.
But at the height of the evening, things are not as they appear as a murder brings it all to a grinding halt. With no idea which direction to turn, blame is thrown around the ship in panic as the guests start to suspect one another.
As night falls and a cry echoes out through the ship, the true nightmare begins.
Search for the answers and save yourself and others from a terror you can't begin to explain.
