Weird. According to a post in the game's steam forum, the development team is actually from the UK? Very strange, because that trailer and the game itself kind of screams "I'm made in China."

Well, this excellent-looking Action RPG installment of the Gujian series

looks to finally be getting a long promised English localization very soon, according to this update (as auto-translate on Chrome reveals)! You can also see some screenshots of said localization there. Apparently the localization is done and they are reaching out for partners for western promotion.

I'll be watching it closely and purchasing day-one for some of that sweet, sweet fantasy wuxia action.

Pathfinder: Wrath

From the screenshot it seems combat in the next Heluo Games' game will be back to Tales of Wuxia simpler top down perspective. And it seems there will be elemental rock paper scissor in form of Chinese 5 elements.

Hey Abu Antar, did you end up playing the Way to Nether DLC for the Tale of Wuxia Prequel? Looks pretty cool, but I'm wondering how substantial it is in terms of content and if it's worth checking out after the main campaign.
I've tried it out for an hour or so. It's more or less a TRPG. You get heroes, but also generic recruits that you can train. There's a world map but you do not explore it. You get points of interest that you get to visit. There are main battles, side battles and free battles. I have only fought in main battles and free battles. The ones that are "free" seem to be there if you need to gain levels. Yes, in the DLC, you gain levels and there's a skill tree for the heroes. The generics only has an upgrade option, though. You can't build those in any preferred way. It's still very early, but I like what I have played so far. My only "glare at the screen" moments are the evasions of enemies. They seem to happen every other attack, and I keep hearing myself whisper swear words.

I will take a photo of the world map and some spoiler free stuff after work, tomorrow.

Love Esquire, a dating sim/RPG from Philippine:

Erotic Steam game created in country with anti-porn laws gets rescued by fan
Love Esquire developer is based out of the Philippines

At this point, seeing a sex game on the Steam charts isn’t particularly noteworthy — there’s clearly a huge market out there that is hungry for adult games. But Love Esquire isn’t quite like most erotic games sold on Steam.

The visual novel, which was released earlier this week following a successful Kickstarter in 2018, follows a lowly squire who is trying to lose his virginity. The game has a mixture of RPG elements, as well as management sim mechanics that scaffold a story-heavy title where the player can romance five different characters. The idea is that by raising your stats and becoming more powerful, you’ll be more attractive to the women around you — and perhaps eventually, you’ll be able to bed them.

Curiously, Love Esquire was made by Yangyang Mobile, a small indie developer based out of the Philippines, where there are strict anti-pornography laws. No surprise, then, that while the game is heavily suggestive — footage shows explicit scenes that are cut off, and the store description warns that there are panty and breast shots — there’s no full-on nudity.

Then again, this is the case for plenty of games on Steam. Developers release sex games, but the actual sex will be hidden away in an easily-accessible patch. Yangyang Mobile did not return a request for comment, but it’s interesting that the store page notes that the game is moddable in a way that implies, while the developer won’t go there, it can’t stop players who want to.

Right on cue, today the game’s news feed was updated with an announcement surrounding the explicit content.

“We had to remove some [cutscenes] to avoid being classified as an ‘adult only’ game,” Yangyang Mobile wrote, noting that a patch is now available on Love Esquire’s Steam workshop page. This developer-created patch is more suggestive than explicit, Yangyang says, “because our country’s laws prohibit us from doing a full-blown [sex] patch.”

But a super fan known as Teófilo, who donated to the Kickstarter, recently created an uncensored mod of those same cutscenes. (You can find it in Love Esquire’s workshop by searching “Hip To Be Squire Uncensored.”) Which is to say — this studio got around harsh laws by relying on a fan mod.

“When you’re playing the game and experiencing man’s greatest pleasure, you’ll know who to thank!” reads Yangyang Mobile’s news post on Steam.

As of this writing, Love Esquire has an overall “positive” rating on Steam, where it is currently outselling titles such as Rust and Skyrim.

Great news. What I don't understand is why this is apparently always-online and stores your save files on the server instead of locally.

Just found this out myself, and was pretty pissed off about it.

You can't play the game without an internet connection apparently. Tricky Chinese DRM bullshit.

Still, played the game on Hard difficulty for a couple of hours and love it so far. Translation is one of the better Chinese -> English I've seen too, though of course with plenty of errors. Just wish it wasn't tied to these terrible practices.

I'm holding off on a purchase because of always online. Read that their previous games were heavily pirated and this is supposed to be the reason behind this online requirement.

I probably would have thought twice before buying it had I known too. Though, I've been looking forward to the game for a long time and have enjoyed the first couple hours a lot. I feel like I would have caved eventually anyway, unfortunately. And something tells me they're not going to be changing this any time soon.

Cards is a mini game. Base is a series staple. But I don't think there's stamina. It's more Ys than Souls.
