I tried playing a bit of this but god damn either my computer is dog shit (possible - I5-6500, 3060, 32 gigs of ram, ssd) or this game has like zero optimization.

I had to drop settings to low-medium to get somewhat decent performance. Still micro-stutters though. Really hoping for a patch soon. Game is fun otherwise!

Completed the game just as a new patch drops. No mention of performance improvements though, so anyone else waiting, might want to wait a bit longer. The ending of the game is extremely anti climatic, you just get some unlocks and.. that's it. I didn't know I had beat the game until I saw a description for one of the unlocks that said "Unlocked by completing all the main mission" or something like that. Lame.

I'll probably replay most of the missions to try and get a better score, once a performance fix drops. Some of the missions run flawlessly and butter smooth and others run like complete dogshit. I didn't play the early access version that much, but some of the ones I recognized were the ones that ran better. I also liked the mission select during early access much better, and it seemed to promise different scenarios for each location, something that seems to be completely gone now; Very disappointing.

Overall verdict: Wait. Let it cook a bit longer. It smells good, but it's still too mushy to eat.

Funny because it ran mostly fine on i5 6500 + 3070 Ti before the release. There were some nasty drops on the pedo villa, but it was playable.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
It's an alright game, but feels very repetitive. New mission - check under door, check door, open and clear (with a flashbang), search, check under door, check door, open and clear...

I like it but can't do more than one mission every few days otherwise it'd bore me. Good for playing once a week though.

The 1.0 release backtracked on performance, tons of people with good computers are complaining. I'm really surprised the developer hasn't had hotfixes come out quickly and patches planned. They've been mostly silent since 1.0 and i was going to wait for a patch before jumping in but that is unknown what the hell they are doing. Right now I'm playing SWAT 4 which still kind of holds up, just wish the maps were a bit bigger and the graphics not so old but I don't really have many other options for this type of game.

I think they had one small hotfix, but it didn't really address anything substantial. I have a decent rig, but had to play this on medium-low and it still stuttered. It's not like they HAVE to make big updates, so it's pretty disappointing they haven't patched it yet.

New hotfix coincidentally came out yesterday. Again, nothing substantial related to the big 2 current issues; performance and AI. They do mention the next two hotfixes will focus on those though. Here's hoping it won't take too long before they drop.

Performance is shit. Major fps drops (not stuttering), while MSI shows that neither CPU nor GPU are utilized properly. A LOT worse than what it was during Early Access.

Apparently, the game still won't compile shaders beforehand so that's why you have those big stutter spikes at the beginning of any mission. This problem with UE4 was noticed, discussed and reported in many games a long time ago.

If you try 4K, the game doesn't even scale the UI and everything is super tiny.

The game still offers you to enable DLSS and increase Resolution Scaling (to 150%) at the same time, although they do not work together. I reported this a long time ago.

The game's visuals are extremely inconsistent. At the beginning of Twisted Nerve, the SWAT truck has the shadow under him, but not a single other vehicle on the map.

This is personal, but for some reason SWAT members now have open wrists and necks, although previously they were covered. I'm not sure if you can cover it with unlockable clothes.

Icing on the cake is the AI, that for some reason even worse than before.

Overall, it would be fair to say that they need to pull their heads out of their asses and start actually polishing what they have. What's the point of calling it 1.0 if it's still technically Early Access?

For example, Twisted Nerve wasn't exactly a small mission, but they made it even bigger by adding a whole new building and it's a third mission in the campaign. Needless to say that it's a huge difficulty spike compared to the first two.

The first hotfix had a bunch of fixes, but I suspect it was a lot of fixes they had done between locking down the build for release (done maybe a few weeks or a month before release) and the actual release.

I've actually ended up downloading the last build before 1.0 from 9 February 2023.

If you're interested, be careful as it's 92gb in size.

Open Steam console by pasting this in your browser address line: "steam://nav/console"

Write in the Steam client console: "download_depot 1144200 1144201 2433351168893566336"

Once it completes it will notify you in the console: "Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1144200\depot_1144201" (13123 files, manifest 2433351168893566336)"

Backup game files and move downloaded files into the main game folder here: "Steam\steamapps\common\Ready Or Not"

Launch the game normally.

July 23rd $10 for anyone who didn't buy the supporter edition
(Only the host needs the DLC to play these new levels)

Unreal Engine 5 migration isn't ready. They'll be publishing monthly devlogs going forward.

I heard it's still not as good as SWAT.
Choose one of the following:

1. Modern games can never compete with nostalgia

or

2. Modern games are a shit and the games made in the past were created by people with actual talent and passion

What keeps it back from being as good as SWAT is enemy AI. They're all aimbots whose aiming skills are so incredible that the game rapidly turns into slapstick farce. Unlike in SWAT 4, the rules of engagement aren't fun to follow because nobody ever panics or surrenders or even fake-surrenders, you just announce your presence and get 360 no scoped through two windows and a doorway from five hundred meters away. They've also deliberately recreated the weirdest things about SWAT 4, like the beanbag shotgun which is essentially cheat mode if you want to get maximum score on every level.

The plot and scenarios in this one are also batshit, SWAT 3 and 4 were funny copaganda but RoN is just really fucking weird in a way that's not appealing at all and just ends up feeling repellent and irritating. It's still an okay game on the whole, I think they could use this engine and these mechanics to make a true Rainbow Six game.

I've been pretty disappointed with this overall as patches and content is moving at a snails pace. Last I tried it after several patches, the performance was still poor.
The replay factor is also pretty low compared to swat 3 or 4.

...why are these retards migrating the game to UE5? Wtf is the benefit?
I think it's the performance issues and also better mod support or some shit. I've never been able to play the game because of massive stutters, I hope the new engines fixes that otherwise I'm uninstalling this crap.

A New Engine for Future-Proofed Content

Upgrading our game engine to Unreal Engine 5 prior to launching DLC ended up being imperative to most efficiently future-proof new content and reap benefits from the updated engine. Specifically, the current version we’re on is UE5.3.

As stated earlier, our external partners handled the majority of the transition, allowing us to focus on developing 1.0 and new content until the final stage of the UE5 transition was ready.

Although Ready or Not is not positioned to use every new or flashy feature UE5 has to offer, there is a solid list of easily noticeable benefits that we’re confident we should be able to take advantage of. A few of these potential benefits are better PSO integration tools, PSO precaching, DLSS 3.7, FSR 3, and new anti-aliasing methods (TSR). We're already seeing positive results in gameplay from many of these features.

Better PSO integration tools means that we should have an easier time implementing PSO caching for each map/level in the future, which would reduces loading times and in-game stutters.

PSO Precaching is an automatic approach to PSO caching that could help cut down on load times and stutters even further. This technique contrasts with traditional PSO caching which may require you to load a level first before you can benefit.

Nvidia’s DLSS 3.7 offers improvements over the DLSS 3.5 currently in the game to enhance performance and visual fidelity simultaneously for RTX cards.

Meanwhile AMD’s FSR 3 suite offers similar features for all graphics cards, able to replace the FSR 2.1 in-game now.

TSR (Temportan Super Resolution) is a new anti-aliasing method that comes with UE5 that which improve anti-aliasing graphical quality substantially, especially during movement.
tl;dr - proper SDK release for modders and performance gains, including load times.

I don't think they know where they wanted to go with the story. During development they ran an ARG that had something to do with a former SWAT officer becoming a cult leader and trying to start a civil war. Yet nothing about that is in the final version.

Haven't played since the first couple weeks of 1.0 but there were mods that balanced the bullshit AI and made it fun (again).
If the choice is between having a moddable SWAT 5 with bullshit vanilla AI and not having it at all, I'll gladly choose the former.

The new DLC came out a couple days ago, the maps are pretty good. AI seems better overall - I noticed the SWAT bots are much more efficient and enemies are less aimbotty. The engine was upgraded to UE5 which they claimed would offer performance improvements, but me and many other people are getting much worse FPS than before. Not unusual for Void to break something and have to fix it later.
