You'll never understand this Vic but when a woman looks into your eyes and says "I love you", there is nothing in text that can express that. But you'll never have it so you can tell us how text is the superior communication method.

Ah, you must be that guy who pays all those e-thots on twitch.
I don't think I've ever donated to a streamer.

Then I fail to see how does this "wuw u" crap fits into a discussion of text guides being superior to JOOTUBE VIDEOS. Sure, feeling woman's lips on your cock beats reading, no shit, Sherlock. What does it have to do with jootube, though?

text was, is and always will be the superior method of communicating ideas.

I was responding to Vic's stupidity in how text is teh best communication ever. Love is an idea, a concept and you cannot communicate it with text. Tone of voice, body language, the way someone handles themselves is all missing from text and can be an essential part of communicating. There's a reason why high charisma people make more interesting videos than your average sonic fan.

rip to 50 shades of gray, rip to this timeless classic:

but seriously, you should read a good romance novel, and then you can come back and say that you can't communicate emotions via text, you'll be crying like a puppy I betcha.

Also you just CAN'T communicate scenes via film as well as you can with text, I don't think it's possible to convery inner monologue and all the details and sensations etc. Movie buffs feel free to prove me wrong but I don't believe it's possible.

Posting disgusting pornography in a public forum is definitely a red flag.

also, there's a limit to what can be shown on screen, even with modern CGI, but there's no limit to your imagination :smug:

The old black woman pornography you're posting isn't just text. Are you seriously so triggered you have to post bestiality images in a thread? If that's the kind of porn you watch I understand why you think starfield's GOTY. Looks like the NPCs in it.

I don't watch any porn actually because they are "body actors" and there's no feeling or horniness on the woman's part.

Now, reading porn... :smug:

1: Shoehorning memes at a lightning pace. I despise this attempt at humor. It might actually be my least favorite element of modern Youtube.

2: Breathy speech. Very close second. 99% of the time if the speaker sounds like a trauma victim I'm closing the tab.

3: If I don't get some kind of answer in the first minute I'm closing the tab.

4: if I see the creator's face in the thumbnail. 75% of the time it's unwatchable garbage.

5: Exaggerated AI art memes in the thumbnail. This is a relatively new one, but I'm seeing it more and more. Found a channel called Clownfish TV last year that does a lot of Pop Culture bullshit hot-takes, and their thumbnails are these vomit-inducing AI art memes. I figured it was their schtick, but no, this seems to be a trend now.

6: if the creator is surrounded by merch or candy-colored lights. 75% of the time it's unwatchable garbage.

Here's a Venn diagram for ya:

(distance between circles not up to scale, because horizontal scrolling is haram)
check out this list

https://reedsy.com/discovery/blog/best-romance-novels

Anna Karenina
Pride and Prejudice
Jane Eyre
The Princess Bride
Tess of the D'Urbervilles
.....

I don't think your two circles make a convincing argument.

I'm convinced you're an autistic woman with the sort of drivel you post. It's no wonder you think Bethesda games' writing is worth defending.

Back on track.

A big red flag is people saying they care about mental health. They absolutely do not give a single fuck and all the dishonest wankery hurts real people who need help. They end up on places like Better help or turning to the streamer to play therapist rather than engaging in their real world and solving the problems causing issues/seeking suitable treatment. I wonder how many people have an heroed because of e celebs acting like they care, someones desperate and tries to take them up on the offer and it obviously doesn't help. Or they end up on better help and unlicensed assholes fuck them over and they an hero after that instead. A big part of therapy is actually going some where and seeing a real person, not just video calls or phone calls which are obviously not structured the same way and don't bring much of the benefits of a 1 to 1 face to face chat.

I for one, definitely find that a video guide to a game/video game review is comparable inexperience as making love to a beautiful woman. When DariaxButthead6969 complains about being sent back to the start of a 3 hour RTS mission, it's definitely important that we get all the rich texture of his voice. No text could ever match the ARGH he says.

As to the actual topic, I find it annoying that when I'm forced to use a video walkthrough, said walkthrough features the voice of the guy who wrote it. If I'm here to see how to win the game, I'm not here to hear your voice. I suppose it could add something, but I have never seen any such walkthrough that wasn't just someone being barely competent. You're making a walkthrough, we don't need to see you flailing around for twice as long as it takes to solve the puzzle.

Agreed, that's one more reason why cutscenes and full voice acting in games is inferior (a little can be OK, strictly for ambience).

You can technically display more detail on a movie screen though. Most writers won't describe an environment (or everyones' voices) in minute detail; instead writers focus on the important details, leaving the rest to the reader's imagination.

The youtuber showing their face rather than just having footage of the game. Even worse if they have some virtual/animated avatar of themselves displayed in the footage.

I think a lot of fantasy writers do because they create alien landscapes that simply need that description. It can be hard to imagine if you grew up on youtube videos tho

absolutely, I always think that voice acting takes away from the immersion, but if it already has voice acting I never disable it because I don't wanna miss out on that extra content :despair spongebob:

If text is the superior communication method you should be able to understand my emotional state while writing this post. Or it's an inferior communication medium outside of long term preservation because it cannot express emotion the way saying a single word can

Why would anyone's emotions be important in a search for a factual location of an item?

You'll never understand this Vic but when a woman looks into your eyes and says "I love you", there is nothing in text that can express that.

If my wife said "I love you" to me, I'd respond by asking what she messed up. Literally just type a bunch of random gibberish, same thing as a woman opening her mouth to talk about feelings.

You miss the point Vic. Some things cannot be written they can only be experienced. You can read a thousand books on having your first child and it will not compare to actually holding your first born in your arms. There are things words can never properly express no matter how good a writer you are.

A video can't express that, either.

Would you really watch a video of a dad witnessing his son being born and get a better understanding of his experience than a quick text blurb "he was happy" could express? The video can't give you his exact feelings by transferring his brain chemicals into your head. You either had the same feeling before and the visual makes you recollect those emotions, which may not even be his own particular feelings, or you are clueless and guessing. Either way, text could serve equally well or better. A smile can mean a lot of things, but "he was happy but worried about sudden responsibility and confused by an oddly dark hue to the infant's skin tone" is so much more expressive.

In fact, emotions themselves aren't very expressive. You can run around all day being angry and acting like an emotional bitch, but that doesn't express the source of your irritation. Emotion is actually a very imprecise and crude way of communicating. Were you acting like an irate chimp because of burnt toast for breakfast, not being able to find the receipt to a defective butt plug, or learning that you have three months to live? No idea.

I really don't get why people these days think some ephemeral brain chemicals are so important. And even then video is a horrible way to communicate those chemicals.

I genuinely think there is some serious autism with some of the posters here. Basic human interaction is less understood than reading shitty 80's fantasy novels..

Most of human history wasn't particularly concerned with emotions. The De Bello Gallico isn't filled with Julius Caesar trying to figure out what Vercingetorix was feeling inside. Emphasis on emotion is just a recent fad tracking with increasing effeminacy of western civilization.

I don't have any particular point to make in this spirited discussion, but can't help but join in the literature cherry-picking game:

King Gilgamesh said:
I weep for my friend Enkidu;
like a grief-stricken woman, I howl in despair.
The shaft at my side, the bedrock of my strength,
the sword at my belt, the shield before me,
the clothing for my festivals, the sash on my pleasure:
A fiendish force sprang up to snatch him from me.

I prowl the wilderness because I’ve become afraid of death.
What happened to my friend was too heavy to endure,
and so I prowl the roads, world-weary.
What happened to Enkidu, my friend, was too heavy to endure,
and so I prowl the paths, world-weary.

How could I keep quiet? How could I, of all people, fall silent?
My friend, the one I love, has turned to clay.
Enkidu, my friend, the one I love, has turned to clay.
