Any hints on how to open gold safes in Like A Dragon? Is it tied to the main quest, a particular side quest/minigame?
You need golden keys that you can buy from two of the secret shops hidden behind breakable walls. You need to have the Foreman class unlocked with Ichiban to be able to break the walls the shops are hidden behind

Yea I don't recall the Gold Safes having anything all that important in them. But you might as well have the key, and then stop worrying about the respawning Gold Safes in the repeatable dungeons.

I forgot how fucking archaic Yakuza 3 is.. the jump up to 4 was ridiculous looking back
why are people whating my post?
I recently played Yakuza 4, a year after playing Yakuza 3, and, aside from the gimmick of playing four different characters rather than only Kiryu, the two games were virtually identical. Hence, my bafflement as to why you consider Yakuza 3 to be "archaic" relative to its immediate successor. :M

An oasis of love and friendship.
Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
if you think the UX/UI/ the Map is the same then what yourself. if you think the controls in Y4 are as loose as they are in Y3 then what yourself. if you think the overall presentation isn't entirely more polished in Y4 then what yourself.

and yes, I even stated that the jump to Y4 was big looking back. nice "gotcha" faggot. "hurr hurr sequel to a game can't be better than its predecessor hurr hurrrrrrrrrrrr NOOOOOOOO HOW CAN YOU SAY A PREVIOUS GAME IS CLUNKY AND WAS ITERATED ON THAT IS INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Played through Kiwami last week and had a really nice experience. Fantastic to have the rest of these to look forward to.

Good news. It's coming and by the time I beat these 4 it'll already be all patched up with 8 on the horizon.

Isn't Judgment the worst Yakuza game? And didn't they have to change the cover because the dude who they based the guy on the cover on killed someone or something like that?

One of the characters in the game was changed because the actor he was based on was busted for using drugs. Not the main character Takayuki that is on the cover.

Well, it's a guaranteed paycheck for them so I don't begrudge them for that if it keeps these games coming to the West.

No and no (sorta).

Judgment is really good, easily top-end for the RGG releases to me. A lot depends on if someone likes the Dragon Engine I guess, but Judgment has probs the most polished iteration of it.

As for that thing, it wasn't the cover they changed and it wasn't because Takuya Kimura did something. What happened was basically a repeat of what happened with Yakuza 4, one of the actors whose likeness and voice were used for a major character (Pierre Taki, or in the game Lieutenant Hamura) was busted for possession of cocaine. Because Japanese society is bonkers, this basically led to mass unpersoning of the guy by the entertainment industry, and in case of Judgment since this happened just after the game had come out in Japan they pulled it from store shelves until they could release a patch that would replace Taki's voice and likeness in everything about the game.

Same sort of thing happened with Yakuza 4, or as it could be called "why Tanimura disappeared down a memory hole." Some time after Yakuza 4 was released (but before Yakuza 5), the actor whose voice and likeness was used for Tanimura (Hiroki Narimiya) was investigated for possession of cocaine, and when this became public the entire entertainment industry quickly moved to unperson him too (the big lesson from this pattern is how brutal it is; and consider the idols have it EVEN WORSE). In case of Yakuza, it meant that Tanimura wouldn't even be alluded to as a reference. This raised a lot of questions when talk started about the remaster of Yakuza 3-5, since Narimiya had been unpersoned (despite later being cleared by the police), whether they'd just skip Yakuza 4 or something, but in the end Tanimura instead has a new voiceover and face for Yakuza 4.

Can we at least get a normal pc port of Hokuto no Ken Lost Paradise while the 132 people that still use Stadia enjoy their exclusivity deal?
