I've only read up to page 34 so far, and should qualify that I have yet to play the game. But the suspense is killing me.

I want to know if Darth Roxor found POE better than Might & Magic X

I thought the review was good. It listed pretty much every single flaw of the game and expanded upon it.

I guess butthurt fanboys can't handle the cold hard truth that their favorite developer made a game that is just mediocre.

Nah, we just happened to have fun with it is all.

Tim Cain is beyond your reproach peons.

Why?
The sun rises in the east, sky is blue, rain falls down, water is wet, and Tim Cain is beyond reproach of peons. Some things just are.

So far as you know the sun has risen in the east whenever you have bothered to look. Everyone you have had any contact with has noticed the same thing. The sky looks blue. You think your blue is the same blue everyone else sees. You have some notion that water is wet and think other people experience the same.
These may be reasonable assumptions. Doesn't stop em from being assumptions though. Come on Hiver. Raise some points rather than assumptions.
edit : also 'down' is just a matter of perspective.

In my humble opinion, PoE is a much, MUCH better game than BG (which was a generic and shallow game; if not for the pretty art, it would have been instantly forgotten as design-wise it couldn't be compared to role-playing juggernauts like Darklands, Realms of Arkania, and Jagged Alliance). Fortunately, pretty art sells like hotcakes, which explains the decline.

I'd say that PoE was a generic and deep (not in a good way, as in 2deep4u with too much text about everything) game. If not for the pretty art, if, say, it was released by someone other than Obsidian with 1990s art or indie-tier kickstarter art, it would hardly be liked by as many people or sell like hotcakes. Lots of things about BG were shallow but at least you could dual class FFS.

And now you'll soon learn why ArchAngel said "that explains a lot" about Hiver being one of the drones who spent countless hours on skyrim. Engage hiver some more. Please. I'll prepare the popcorn.

Because he made Fallout and Arcanum, he can fuck up every project till the rest of his career and log in 1000 steam hours playing the most popamole console trash available on the market as far as I'm concerned, he'll always be a gaming God for me.

Dat itemization

0_168b5d_a3c29465_XXXL.bmp

So creatures shouldn't drop their equipment? The infinite bag of holding is bad enough, but now people want items to just magically turn into copper too?

How about not having an infinite bag of holding? Or how about not having 20 copy pasted Skaen cultists encounters?

The Skaen cultists weren't identical critters, you know. They needed to drop Skaen Cultist Mage masks and Skaen Cultist Priest masks? Hell, I thought even some of the bashers liked Dyrford...

Yeah, I suppose if you're going to have an infinite bag of holding, you might as well have a "right click liquidates item, left click keeps item" looting system. But, I at least want the flavor of seeing the equipment.

I'm not saying there aren't some serious problems with the game. "Fast" and "Very Slow" are not examples of transparency, Mr. Sawyer. Gating more quests through C&C would've helped cut down on the over-leveling problem.

damn, how i hate it to be late for the party. read the whole review and all 50 pages of this thread and i have to admit i really liked the short ontological discourse. was a great introduction for the dorito ergo sum staff drama afterwards.

archangel is a pathetic dumbfuck and so are you.

dont be dumb.

Yo Hiver. I am just challenging your assertion and asking you to provide evidence for your assertion.I am not being 'dumb' I am being difficult. Also say what you like about Arch Angel but so far I like Nikaido and I don't see any reason to be going them over anything. Having a go at people seems to be a fine 'dex tradition so by all means do it though. Explaining what you are going them for makes it a lot more meaningful though.

meaningless turds dont deserve it.
Me and archangel had enough of exchanges about spirit meter and he is a dumbfuck by fact and reality.
If nikadio agrees with him and thinks archangels is some cool poster it only means he is the same stupid shit. As is evident.

You have nothing to challenge about Tim Cain, as Zagor explained. Those are basics that should be self evident. Not a matter of anyone's fucking perception or opinion.

FO/FO2 and BG/BG2 were created by young guys full of energy, working seven days a week, poorly feed, unwashed and without a care in the world beside playing more games. POE and W2 were made by oldfarts that develop games for a living, have wives, mortgage to pay, kids and another million distractions that suck most of their energy. Do you want more classics? Take a good look at the guys that are making their first games. They have the necessary passion to achieve greatness.

Damn right.

I want an RPG with world design by Tim Cain, Jason Anderson and Leonard Boyarsky.

These guys did some solid work. They are also getting balder and porkier. Looking around, it seems that the best creative work is often done by those under 30. Not as a rule or anything, but as a tendency. Got this feeling that the next F1, Arcanum or PST will come from some unknown in the next generation, maybe someone who grew up in the rpg golden years. Or Styg.

I agree, I think this is the true core of the issue.
Aging but true masters of their trade can still hit with a surprise flick of the tail now and then, but most of the time they stay dormant.
