Never visited 'gamefaqs' before, but it seems some of them aren't fans :|

RPG Codex is an example of the worst parts of the internet. A bunch of people that enjoy being miserable and tearing things/people down more than they actually enjoy what they are supposed to be discussing in the first place, CRPGs. Way back when I used to go there, it was/is one of the more populous places to discuss CRPGs, but the community's irrational troika worship and loathing of almost everything else eventually got to me.

Yeah, seriously, this is a great "Welcome to RPG Codex" moment. I learned to loathe them while I was following the development of Age of Decadence. What a community.

Infinitron? Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
So the butt-licking is between_the_lines official? :?

I posted this from the shoutbox archives a few posts later:

Ah, here we go, the statements from infinitron!

Apr 22, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Infinitron: there have been some accusations that certain Codex staff members have an agenda to ingratiate the forum with developers
Apr 22, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Infinitron: regardless of the validity of that, it's worth pointing out that the most recent news is in part of a result of such ingratiation
Apr 22, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Infinitron: Ubisoft paid for Grunker's trip to Gamescom and gave us a bunch of free MMX keys
Apr 22, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Infinitron: Well, a free airline flight is more than what we usually get

Lesson for the day kids: Kodex Kontent Kurators are as trustworthy as Kotaku and Polygon

Some people may accuse the staff of butt-licking. Regardless of the validity of that, it's worth pointing out that the most recent news is in part a result of butt-licking.

I think that D:OS' GOTY might have had something to do with the fact that it came out in fucking 2014. Were there even any other RPGs released besides Wasteland 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition?
Dragonfall and neoscavenger. D:OS is an amazing game tho, not as enjoyable as DF but really amazing on a technical level, elemental interaction even today blows my mind.

There were quite a few, just most of them didn't get the same hype train treatment. Dragonfall is pretty decent.
The PC port of Valkyria Chronicles was the best RPG of 2014 though. :troll:

D:OS was GOTY because of Larian BRO atttitude.

The typical codexer tries to dissimulate the fact that is a needy attention whore using edginess and foul language, but as it is the case with a special snowflake, he just wants love and attention. If Larian is a bro, D:OS is great; if Sawyer is a dick, POE sucks. Sooo sophisticated.

What about the people fearing that Obsidian won't love us anymore if we are mean to them?

I am a bit worried that going TOO critical of PoE can do rpgcodex some harm.

Besides PoE is still OK game, not 10/10 but 8/10, and is much better then most games released last 6+ months.

I find that some people are more worried about what others think of the codex than what they themselves think of the codex editorial content.

Why the need for validation of your browsing habits? Do people need others to tell them how refined their porn tastes are because you browse x-art instead of ass explorers?

I just hope Anthony Davis has enough balls to keep posting here. I like that guy.
Or is even allowed to, if you want to go into full conspiratorial mode. Though again that's not the feeling I have when it comes to Obsidian. He might have gotten enough after having discussed engagement with Sensuki though, haven't seen him around after that.

Never been asked to not post on the Codex.

As for the review, I think that if it was written in a "less flamey" way, people might take it more seriously because I do think there are some valid points to be made.

I won't lie though, "Hŵrpa Dwrp" did make me laugh.

Hmm I like the review even though I do not agree with everything! If I were a developer and someone would write a re/preview in that way I wouldn´t like the tone of it...well that is bad for the developer, but this is
:mob: For a developer expecting some Kissass skills from :mob: is just fucking insane:kfc:

Now that you mention him, I have not seen him in a while in RPG section. Sawyer might have cut off his hands so he cannot post what PoE devs think of Codex spiting on PoE in last few weeks :D

Conspiracy theories about Sawyer being a hand collector aside - the reality is that between:

1. Having a family
2. Making preparations for a road trip to a funeral
3. WORK
4. Playing PoE, Bloodborne, Hearthstone, and GTA5

I simply havn't had the time.

I don't disagree at all - this is the Codex, if isn't baiting or trolling then people will suspect the LACK of baiting and trolling as being a bait or a troll.

I am simply stating that if you expect the review to be taken more seriously, it should be written in such a way that doesn't get people's emotions up so that they can see the logic and facts of your points.

D:OS was voted number one because it's the closest anybody has ever gotten to a new Ultima game.

Anyway: I'm expecting a good for what it is™ review by Grunker and VD as well. I really doubt they'll ignore the game's flaws. In fact I expect them to correspond with most of Roxor's (valid) complaints. Just, you know, more mellow and shit.

Who cares what Tim Cain thinks of anything. This is his steam profile.

5 times more hours spent on skyrim than New Vegas...
And 200 hours in Boredlands when you combine 1 and 2.
Yeah, it is hard not to think of Fallout as a fluke, a one time thing, an accident in history.

His hours in Skyrim also are evidence that when he said positive stuff about FO3, he wasn't lying. He probably bought FO3 on console or retail, thus why it doesn't appear on his steam, since FO3 didn't use steam as its drm or achievement platform.
