I don't think there was a vote in 2008, the closest thing was DU's Year in Review, which encapsulates the hiveminds opinion on Fallout 3 pretty well.
DA:O winning is still worse than a hypothetical Fallout 3 win, because Knights of the Chalice was also released in 2009. There weren't any good RPGs released in 2008.
"shrug" GOTY reflects the perceptions of a localized society of gamers, not a dictator state's meritocratic perception of worth (no matter how enlightened or correct). At the time in question, there was very little interest in the potential of the indie scene and a lot of interest in recapturing the lost glory of BG2.
But if Fallout 3 didn't win GOTY in 2008, then someone's talking smack about the Codex.

Could we just declare DAI for lols and have Vault Dweller write one a review a la, what was it, Witcher 2? I mean everyone has been bitching about shitty RPGs for well over a decade now and they're still getting money poured into them.
The codex moving forward should just do reviews of actual cRPG's. Not shitty action games (sorry Witcher faggots), since we now can PLAY actual cRPG's again....after twelve fucking years.

Very reasonable, and that's a problem. More Codexers are losing their butthurt every day because of calm logic like this. The Camilla Reign of VD worked. Codexers can't trusted to run themselves, or you'll have newfags frenzying in the street when FO4 is released.
Off topic:
Why the fuck is Damsel with the Anarchs? She's a self-described fucking commie! How is she going to redistribute wealth and power without a strong vampire state? We're talking about a populace where one guy can be a thousand times more powerful than his neighbour by 'birth' alone - merely tearing down organised capitalism isn't going to be enough here, Damsel. And yeah, I get that Marx's proposal was to have local self-sovereign communities who owned their own means of production, he wasn't at all concerned by wealth or income differences, thought the unemployed were scum and fodder for the ruling class and so didn't see the state as having any role in providing welfare other than a pension for the elderly/disabled (why hello there, horseshoe theory!) but that just makes it worse. Vampires don't get their power from owning farms and factories, you idiot Damsel - it's strictly a service-based economy! You're just lucky that Troika had some really fruity commands hidden in the game console, or you'd have eaten a flamethrower even if I had to pay Wesp to make it possible.

Fuck yeah. Before the incline of 2014, I thought that it was the games that had declined, and not just nostalgia and age kicking in, I used to point out to the 'you're all just nostalgic' crowd that the 1997-2003 golden age was actually very different to the blobbers of my childhood - but until I played WL2, I didn't actually know. Now, I'm amazed at how little my gaming obsession has changed since the late 90s, now that there's crpgs to feed it again. It's not even a matter of quality - WL2 isn't perfect, and even Dead State devoured every free minute of my time - just having new crpgs again, period. It was like coming home again, and it felt fitting that it was with a game by Inxile, headed by a guy so desperate to return to the crpg business that he (first inadvertently, then repeatedly and with relish) shat upon his own company's publishers so badly that he had no retreat if both WL2 and T:ToN failed. The last time I played crpgs so obsessively was...well, 2003, and that was before I had kids.
...fuck, I hope someone's been remembering to feed my kids during this gaming binge...

this vote will be shit and not representative of the codex whatsoever, for the sole reason that there might be twice the votes than the active forum members. I bet some fucktards from here will break the rules, too.
I'll probably close the survey this thursday... we are over 1000, but the speed of new votes has slowed down a lot. No need to let it run much more than this.
