i can get why people like anomaly but i don't think stalker is really meant for a game world that's just filled with endless repeatable quests and no real structured plot
The Msery/EFP/Anomaly/etc tards literally think that Stalker was meant to be a super realistic military sim/survival game and wasn't only because "the technology wasn't there".
I blame the retards who kept calling the Stalker games as "survival". Survival is when you carry 20 medkits and 500 rifle rounds in your inventory.

Horror/Atmospheric FPS with minor RPG elements. That's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Calling it a survival game is laughable.

Yeah, you always ended up with more resources than you ever need.
There was a food mechanic, but it was fairly insignificant and it wasn't as if it was hard to find something to eat anyway.

Interesting to see MAC-10 in .45 ACP included. I wasn't aware of those being much of a thing in Europe.
I see that M-14 in other screen didn't raise any questions
M-14 was a short lived US weapon. Those got handed out like candy and plenty of clone makers (including China!) exist. Plus 7.62 Nato is quite common, unlike .45 which is mostly US surplus and Czechs not being able to use hollow points for concealed carry.

Basically, you can't have meaningful food/water/sleep mechanics if the nearest vendor or safe place is 5-10 minutes of jogging away.

It was only short-lived as their main service rifle. It remained in use especially by marksmen and snipers, but I know many vets who went looking to get their hands on them that hated the M-16 and 5.56mm. One Vietnam vet I know who did special forces missions got his hands on an M-14 as he was big enough to handle its blow back in full auto. He fell asleep once with it and woke up to a short squeal as he shot a curious boar who'd come to check him out. Shot the thing and killed it before he even opened his eyes.

Which doesn't address the main question - in Eastern Yurop, M-14 is rare as fuck
and this isnt? lol

Guys if STALKER's weapon selection was authentic, it would be 98% AK74s. Even iconic weapons like the VSS wouldn't really make an appearance in 2030 CEZ.

I dont care too much about this, what I care about is those screens, with that UI, look like they could be from a far cry game. Seriously concerned about this game now.

The M14 in that screen looks more like an M1A Socom with a longer barrel and aftermarket hand guard, which would be easier for a civilian to get hold of than an actual M14.

Anyway the original games had numerous western weapons used by western-backed mercenaries so I don't think it's out of place.

stalker 2: electric boogaloo is probably just gonna be ok, but it won't ever have the same legacy shadow of chernobyl has. shadow of chernobyl will be fondly remembered for a long time because it did the same things doom and half life did. stalker 2 will probably be forgotten by most people after a year or so once it releases
I feel like it's very likely and will be kinda Metro 2033 but open world.

That said, hope dies last.

I'll most likely buy it anyway, even if just to cry.
I can think of a lot of worse things than Metro 2033 but open world.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
There have always been high-end western weapons available in the zone by the established lore. Most of the mercenaries are supposed to be westerners and there are complex smuggling lines for pretty much everything from the outside.

I would only be slightly annoyed if weapons like the M14 are commonplace and cheap rather than something in the hands of specialists and veterans.

Yeah.
Basically, you need very reliable and ergonomic guns. Guns that can stand the wear and tear and harsh conditions found in the Zone.

Well, actually it isn't.

That is an LR300, not an M4 or even generic AR15, and its absolutely a moonrock rifle. You would have trouble finding one among hobbyists in the US, let alone anywhere in Europe and certainly not in the CEZ. Point being, STALKER devs picked their arsenal based on what looked cool, not what was realistic for the region.

True, SA-80 and G-36 have zero business being in Stalker. But then no FAL and no G3 in vanilla game

Likely not those accessories, but every European sport shooter who can get one and use it in their discipline does get an AR-15 variant because they're just that good a rifle. Even in Finland, where men are required by law to learn how to use an AK or go to prison, overwhelmingly use AR-15s in sport shooting. Any special forces allowed to pick their own equipment also grab AR variants (for example, you can easily find pics of SAS with Canadian made examples).

Again, this is not a generic AR15. It is an LR300, which is rare even in the US. I imagine it would've been far easier for the devs to model after a generic M16/AR15 for which there would've been much more abundant source materials, but instead they chose an oddball because it simply looks less generic. It has a SUSAT mounted - again, unlikely, but less generic looking than an ACOG or aimpoint. At one point it even inexplicably mounted a PSO-1

If STALKER's arsenal was attempting to be authentic, it would be a pretty boring lineup for an FPS. There's a bunch of guns in there that are just sort of borderline plausible if you squint, and then threes ones that people consider to be authentic but actually aren't - take for example the AN94 and the Groza. They were never in widespread use even within the special units of the soviet military, and they aren't even produced anymore. Sure, it's kind of sort of plausible that a few are floating around Ukraine and Belarus and end up being smuggled into the CEZ, but Duty and Spetsnaz are depicted as being preferentially armed with what are effectively museum pieces.

iirc alexsky sytanov picked the lr-300 because it fits stalker's '20 minutes into the future' aesthetic like how the fn 2000 prototype does
