Is ‘feature creep’ a worry? Sure… it’s always a worry, and we are well aware of it. However, building the game to the stretch goals embraced and endorsed by the community is not feature creep!

However, building a product to the constantly shifting specifications embraced by the client is not scope creep!

Sounds like this is going down in flames.
If by flames you mean dollars then yep!

Currently the game is at: $85,194,909 donated.

On Monday (when I think that post was made) they brought in just under 36k - in that single day.

Moral of the story: Chris Roberts should post more "updates" like that one.

That's just fucking insane. Part of me wonders where the money comes from but I remember Blaine paid $10,000 for some digital ships so I guess there's lots of people like him floating around out there.

If the day comes when my loved ones ask this question, I will kill myself. Because that will mean that my life failed and this is one of the most important things I achieved.

Now, now ... this is wrong, if this ever happened the only acceptable decision would be kill everyone because mankind have failed.

Not that it will happen because lets be honest here, he doesnt even have a publisher ... does he really think without a distribution network he will have any kind of impact? PC gaming will do just fine without him and considering his pledges this is nothing but a game for the 1%, does he think people can afford to spend $10k on a single game?

That is just propaganda, he should be careful because if this crashes and all points to yes people will throw that right back at him.

You don't need 10k, fucking retard liar.
You need a good machine but not an liquid-nitrogen-cooled ubercluster either.
I'm a latinfag and poorfag and I'm a SC backer, I can run the alpha decently and I didn't have to sell a kidney for that.

Money is being used for the game, only retards and trolls can claim otherwise. The point is whether it is utilized correctly or misspent because of bad management.

Of course you do, pledges are showing exactly were hey are going with this if its released ... remember the whole "no subscription" on Kickstarter and how now it have a subscription?

Do you honestly think that after selling ships for hundreds they are going to stop after launch? All you retards show is you will throw money at them and they sold ships that dont even exist outside of a concept, they have no reason outside morals to stop and if they had morals they would have stopped after Kickstart and create the game with the existing funds, not continue with "give us money" campaign that continues into today.

You fully deserve what you will get, I am really waiting for the other shoe to drop so when you idiots come here and complain I can say anyone, ANYONE with a shred of basic common sense would have bailed out.

And not just ships, one thing CCP missed out in EVE is making ground toons ... think of the possibilities of selling clothing for toons, plus ground module means armor and weapons as well.

The structure for Premium is being set, now personally I dont mind then doing cosmetic things but they have sold ships, thats not cosmetic since they have different stats, its a very easy lure to go down the path of selling power and fact is, how will they keep in operations after release and how they are going to maintain their "persistent universe" server? The answer is clear ... cash shop.

They tried but its only the Captian's Quarters as you cannot walk a Toon in social areas in a Starbase, this is what CCP missed out ... they attempted but the engine could not handle such system so the system as implemented ended up being pointless.

Agreed, but it's a matter of taste I guess. The game art books are quite good, though.
The point is that those are not subscriptions to the game, it's like being subscribed to Reader's Digest...

I haven't been paying attention to this and don't have particularly high hopes for it, but I have a question.

Is the single player only gonna be this Squadron 42 thing where you go through scripted missions like wing commander or will you be able to play around in a dynamic open world(universe) in a single player game mode? Without needing to be online in any shape, form, or fashion?
It will be like Wing Commander AFAIK.

Reminds me when one of our local Gaming Magazines gave Smarts Battlecruiser Millenium the title "worst game they ever reviewed".
Nice to see that little changed regarding him.

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW
This is one of the worst games I have ever played in my entire life. The graphics are terrible, the controls are just awful, there is only one map you can play on and even that is terrible. The good part about this game was unistalling it. I just find it funny how the lead developer of this game griefs another game because it is taking a long time to develop, Which it would for a game of it's requirements may I add, when he can't even develop a game that is actually worth playing, another thing, he calls this game, which I am not saying but you probably already know, a cash grabbing game because you can spend a lot of money on something that you can't even use yet, even though you don't have to actually pay for it it's completly optional and it will become available with in game money when it comes out, and yet line of defence has DLC worth up to £120.96 for a game that is not even out yet (WTF). All I can say Is Derek Smart your a arrogant and pathetic prick who just needs to retire from making games, All your games have just been ♥♥♥♥ and your so full of yourself.

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW
Typically I can find something redeeming about any game. However; this game is awful, plain and simple. NOTHING has been executed correctly. I spent ~15 minutes trying to get it to launch past all the antivirus false positives, missing dlls, and crashes, and then ~10 minutes in game dealing with poorly designed menus, antiquated graphics, mouse smoothing I couldn't turn off, fov locked to what I can only assume is a number in the 20 neighborhood, npcs awkwardly standing in neutral pose with no collision, no direction of what to do, nobody in the server, a jump button that doesn't work, and a buggy movement system that teleports you to the ceiling when you walk into a wall, before giving up. Running Windows 8.1 x64 on a 4690k and gtx 670 I got choppy framerates INDOORS with NO OTHER PLAYERS IN SERVER (the game markets itself on "massive outdoors vehicular combat" which I can only assume compounds the problems more).

If I worked at 3000AD I would be ashamed to have this game released, and would currently be looking for a way to cut our losses on this game and move on to a project with much more realistic goals for our studio size and budget. It is clear that almost a year after early release this overambitious mess is still way in the hole and that it will never be playable.

Actually, scratch that. If I worked at 3000AD I'd be looking for a new job.

This game is an abomination and is completely unplayable. This shouldn't be in steam early access at all. I have a high end system and I get 20FPS. This game looks and plays like it was made in the 90s. 2.9 Gigs of RAM usage just when I start it up????? HOW?????? Completely unoptimized and no one is ever online.

Gotta love those 10 minute playtimes.

The least they could've done is tab out and idle in the game for a couple of hours before writing their review.

:1/5: low effort troll.
