that Derek's own lawyers, as silly a man as he certainly is, are going to laugh off with such gusto as to warrant a trip to the local bar with beers on him.
Hey, we are talking about a lawyer who is retarded enough to represent Smart in this ridiculous case. No self respecting lawyer would take up a case about internet butthurt. I think he knows the Derek is an idiot.

I'm really surprised that the crowd-funding bubble hasn't burst already.
Why would it? With the exception of SC and Broken Age, there haven't been much high profile controversies. Some of the lower profile failures are not even represented in the press. On the other hand, there are dozens of successfull projects.

From ex-employee recollections:
Known to follow employees, create incredibly inappropriate rumors/lies about them, often brings kids into work and loads off onto someone to watch distracting multiple people from work. Brings up highly inappropriate and unprofessional topics of conversations while people are trying to work such as sex life with CEO of company, past drug use, etc. Uses work equipment and employees for personal gain in alternate career and misuses backer funds for vacations while pretending to be at work.
and another one corroborates
Management frequently discuss drug use and desire to use drugs in the office and inappropriate discussion of their sex lives in front of employees. Management misappropriate projects development budget. They have: Taken 1st class trips to Paris, Milan, London, Bora Bora, Rio de Janeiro, Australia, Venice, and several more locations all paid for using backer funds. Taken money directly out of the company coffers for personal expenses. Buy fancy clothes, expensive dinners (over $1,000), private chefs, lease three Porsche vehicles, and lease a mansion all using company money.

Fat fuck and a gold digger running a company, what did you expect?

Wow, Chris has really let himself go. He should try ditching those $1,000 meals and get his ass on a $1,000 treadmill.

I'm really surprised that the crowd-funding bubble hasn't burst already. The fall of Star Citizen could be the kind of high-profile failure it needs, OTOH gamers have shown time and again that they're too dumb to learn from their mistakes.

People are overestimating importance of SC. Nobody gives a shit about it outside of people who have backed it or follow controversies in general.

They both look like out of control sexual maniacs.

I'm thinking we might have gotten a good Star Citizen game if the crowd-founding hadn't been that successful as it is. The amount of money probably corrupted him/them, or at least it sounds a bit like that.

So it's like every company ever.

No, it's not.

With a private company (not crowdfunded), you're not going to have tens or hundreds of millions of dollars flowing in from customers expecting those funds to be applied directly to the product that has been promised them as opposed to the CEO's wife blowing hundreds of thousands of it on trips, clothes, cars, and mansions.

With a publicly-traded company, you're going to have a board of directors overseeing the company who represent the shareholders, and who have real power to do something about a situation like that, up to and including the power to fire the CEO and his whore wife.

So you're very wrong.

Haven't seen this posted here yet:

(sorry about the proper link - if someone wants to archive it and relink go for! I'm pressed for time)
This is very interesting. On the one hand, I never take anonym sources seriously, especially if they are former, butthurt employees. But on the other hand it seems that several of the sources are still working at CIG, and they are all telling the same thing.

Anyway, it is mindblowing how fucked up this project is. And the solution was so easy. Chris Roberts just should have done the same thing as Braben. Release a base, working game. Even if it is not perfect, there is something to show, and you can expand on it step by step. But no, they had to develop everything simultaniously.

i like that after so many years, people need Derek Smart and Escapist to see that this is a cash grab... I was one of the first enthusiasts, on kickstarter but after one year it was clear that this is not gona end well, you didnt need to be a game designer or have some game producing experience, to see the con... And i still see people today making videos, and being excited, about empty levels, and no real gameplay.

I think it was obvious when you checked what he did in the last 12 years before the kickstarter. If he was the a true PC bro, he wouldve developed some PC games, but he was busy at Hollywood...until he discovered the crowdfunding hype.

Wow. Roberts really buries himself with this article. His PR people should have been begging on their knees for him not to post it. He does everything as the head of a company under fire you don't want to do, multiple times -- he mentions Smart like twenty times, tries to fight claims of indiscretion with incredulous cries of disbelief, and in it basically gives credence to the descriptions of him being an out-of-control, emotional egomaniac.

How utterly hilarious that he's got Derek Smart of all people dogging his every step now. The "smartest" thing Roberts could do from here on out is to shut up, put his head down, finish as much of the game as he can, and stop replying to Twitter and all the idiots who occupy that space.

Edit: Oh, and it's also hilarious that Rex is trying to stay right in the middle of it all. What an orbiter. I wonder if he's tried to submit any of his artwork for consideration on the SC website.

judging by today's dev update, it seems it's getting exactly that from 1.5 onwards... better late than never, i guess

I now understand why Star Citizen is taking so long.

Chris Roberts said:
I would like to point out that ever since I got your email from David I have been working on this response. I worked on this until 5am last night, and a couple more hours this morning in the UK, where I am currently am in preparation for CitizenCon in a week from Saturday. Conservatively it’s taken me about eight hours to write.

Eight hours to write that response? Goodness. That's a long time just to write a response with all kinds of random things in it.

I really don't understand the gamergate reference or why so much was dedicated to that. Who cares?

However, it was an amusing read so win for Derek Smart! The entertainment keeps coming.

So the question is now. Once it fully crashes in burns, is anyone going to be pissed off enough to kill Chris Roberts? Some people spent 30K+ on this game. You can get killed for way less than that.

I'm sure they'll want to, but I don't think the kind of person who'd spend $30000 on imaginary spaceships is physically capable of killing anyone.

You'd have to ask Grand Admiral Blaine that question.
