Yep, and still 49 hours left. I recently noticed this, however:
I'd thought pledges cost a given amount (say, $125--the Hornet/Freelancer pledge level) mainly because you'd receive a copy of game, the physical tchotchkes, credits, lifetime insurance for your pledge ship and so on. According to this post by Chris, however, the cost of a ship add-on (say, $110 for the Hornet or Freelancer) is what the in-game cost of an uninsured ship of the same type will be based upon, according to the $/credits ratio of the cash shop. In fact, it'll be even more expensive. This therefore means that a single-seat fighter craft will be priced at $150 worth of in-game credits, and it will not come with insurance. That's for a basic hull with starter modules, mind you. There's no indication of just how the "normal" insurance system will work, either.
Now consider that the Constellation is a $225 add-on, and that there will be at least two higher ship classes than it (Corvette and Destroyer). How much will a Destroyer be worth? $700 worth of credits?
I don't know about the rest of you, but generally speaking, something that costs $700 to buy in a cash shop takes weeks or months to grind out in game currency. I try to avoid those games like the plague, but I'm pretty sure you don't find $50 worth of gamebux underneath every rock you turn over either, otherwise no one would ever use the cash shop.
I hope something about this changes and/or insurance is enough to ameliorate it.
